Drew Peterson Trial and the Sidebar on Google?

Last week Drew Peterson's ever expanding circus act filed 9 motions before the upcoming trial scheduled for the 14th of June. Nice move by the defense team, I will give them that much, but, I am reminded of another trial in California 6 years ago, also in June headed by famed defense attorney, Mark Geragos. Maybe the Drew Peterson defense team is quietly holding weekly phone conferences with Geragos on the motions filed by my favorite legal "Marshmallow Roaster"as they appear eerily similar.

You remember Mark Geragos, he represented Scott Peterson. This Peterson (no relation to Drew except for their ability, in my opinion, to make women vanish) went to trial for the murder of Laci Peterson  in 2002, after she went missing while seven and a half months pregnant with her first child. Laci was reportedly last seen alive on December 24, 2002. Peterson's defense was based around the lack of direct evidence, and defusing the circumstantial evidence, and a hell of a lot of useless motions and paper legal shuffling. The evidence against Peterson was largely circumstantial. On November 12 , 2004, a jury convicted Scott Peterson of first-degree murder with special circumstances for killing Laci and second-degree murder for killing his unborn son.

The prosecutor prevailed and Scott Peterson is now sitting his pathetic behind on death row.

The motions filed under "seal" by the Drew Peterson team is nothing more than a way to buy time. Reminds me of too many cooks in a kitchen spoiling the soup.

There is an upside to this defense circus, each one of the team members will have their name in "Internet lights" so to speak, searched by Google with rapid speed. My favorite legal roaster will likely have his own page, hopefully minus the advertisement for the not so famous take out chicken wings, with his client's name at the top :"Drew Peterson Trial." Along the sidebar of the page will be a listing of trial documents, evidence, case summary, and each defense attorney on the team will have their name displayed in bright colorful fonts.
Looking at the Scott Peterson trial should give us a bit of hope that Will County Prosecutor James Glascow will also prevail and get a conviction. After all, he is not representing one victim, but many.

Drew Peterson Defense Adds New Members To The Already Crowded Circus Ring?

According to reporter Joe Hosey and author of the book Fatal Vows who has been covering the Drew Peterson case since 2004, the total number on the defense team is now up to six.

In my opinion, of note joining the team, or should I say "train wreck," is defense attorney and legal commentator Steven A. Greenberg. I am surprised because of Greenberg’s criticisms in the past to my favorite legal marshmallow roaster (notorious for passing out monogrammed pens and handing out chicken wings with sauce to reporters) because he couldn’t control the client

I happen to know Greenberg from other cases through the years. He is one of Illinois more skilled defense lawyers. So why is he wasting his talent and representing the former Bolingbrook police Sergeant?

In an interview over a year ago ,and as a legal commentator, defense attorney Steve Greenberg, who has analyzed the Peterson saga for national news shows--
"The second Savio autopsy is just a different interpretation of the injuries," he said. "The same injuries were documented in the first one, but what apparently happened is it was treated differently because Drew Peterson was a police officer. It's just a fact that authorities at the time took his story and didn't really look into it."
Greenberg said he doesn't expect Glasgow will undercut his own case by running from the first autopsy, however.
"He'll say, 'That was just that pathologist's opinion at the time, but it's really up to you to decide,'" he said. Glasgow will then point to the injuries noted in both autopsies and ask the jury to use common sense.
"He'll ask, 'Do you think that someone who falls in a bathtub would have 17 bruises on their body?"

In my opinion this one is all about the media gravy train. I’ll bet a dozen pair of pantyhose Steven Greenberg has taken this case pro-bono.

Regardless, Greenberg wins either way and has nothing to lose by being part of the already crowded circus act. Wish there was a way to put an attorney on the stand when they make "expert in their opinion" remarks
and hold them accountable. Reminds me of another attorney Mark Geragos.

White House Press Release Won't Stop The Slaughter

At the begining of October President Obama issued a Proclaimation as it relates to this being National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With great admiration for our President, without a strategic plan of action words in a press release do nothing to stop the slaughter of Americans' and their children suffering from an epidemic where bodily harm and murder are taking the lives of innocent victims due partially to lack of funding and services for its' victims.

Perhaps the President and his administration would consider creating a campaign asking prominent sports figures (that don't have a history of violence themselves) to participate in public service announcements during televised games sending a message that violence is not acceptable behavior, it is a criminal offense and just like drunk driving you will be arrested and prosecuted.

Another suggestion is to create a brief message for school students delivered by President Obama himself to classrooms benefiting those whose voices are silenced because they believe violence is a way of life in their own homes.

The current admistration has the power to change the plight for victims of violence in our nation. It requires a heck of a lot more than issuing a proclaimation that most will never read because they have already lost their lives!

President Obama's proclamation:

THE WHITE HOUSEOffice of the Press SecretaryFor Immediate Release October 1, 2009 NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH, 2009- - - - - - -BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICAA PROCLAMATION

Domestic violence touches the lives of Americans of allages, leaving a devastating impact on women, men, and children of every background and circumstance. A family's home becomesa place of fear, hopelessness, and desperation when a woman isbattered by her partner, a child witnesses the abuse of a lovedone, or a senior is victimized by family members. Since the 1994passage of the landmark Violence Against Women Act, championed by then Senator Joe Biden, our Nation has strengthened its responseto this crime and increased services for victims. Still, far toomany women and families in this country and around the world areaffected by domestic violence. During National Domestic ViolenceAwareness Month, we recommit ourselves to ending violence withinour homes, our communities, and our country.

To effectively respond to domestic violence, we must provideassistance and support that meets the immediate needs of victims.Facing social isolation, victims can find it difficult to protectthemselves and their children. They require safe shelter andhousing, medical care, access to justice, culturally specificservices, and economic opportunity. The Family ViolencePrevention and Services Act supports emergency shelters, crisisintervention programs, and community education about domesticviolence.

In the best of economic times, victims worry about finding ajob and housing, and providing for their children; these problemsonly intensify during periods of financial stress. That is whythe American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides $325 millionfor the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Victims ofCrime Act (VOCA). This funding will supplement the Federal VAWAand VOCA dollars that flow to communities every year, and enableStates, local governments, tribes, and victim service providersto retain and hire personnel that can serve victims and holdoffenders accountable. These funds will also bring relief tovictims seeking a safe place to live for themselves and their children.

Victims of violence often suffer in silence, not knowingwhere to turn, with little or no guidance and support. Sadly, this tragedy does not just affect adults. Even when childrenare not directly injured by violence, exposure to violence inthe home can contribute to behavioral, social, and emotionalproblems. High school students who report having experiencedphysical violence in a dating relationship are more likely touse drugs and alcohol, are at greater risk of suicide, and maycarry patterns of abuse into future relationships. Our effortsto address domestic violence must include these young victims.

During this month, we rededicate ourselves to breaking thecycle of violence. By providing young people with educationabout healthy relationships, and by changing attitudes thatsupport violence, we recognize that domestic violence can beprevented. We must build the capacity of our Nation's victimservice providers to reach and serve those in need. We urgecommunity leaders to raise awareness and bring attention tothis quiet crisis. And across America, we encourage victims andtheir families to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at1-800-799-SAFE. Together, we must ensure that, in America, novictim of domestic violence ever struggles alone.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of theUnited States of America, by virtue of the authority vestedin me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States,do hereby proclaim October 2009, as National Domestic ViolenceAwareness Month. I ask all Americans to do their part to end domestic violence in this country by supporting their communities' efforts to assist victims in finding the helpand healing they need.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand thisfirst day of October, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America thetwo hundred and thirty-fourth.

A Walk For A Life Lost!

This October it will be 2 years since the 23 year old mother of two, Stacy Peterson vanished. While friends and family continue to look for her remains there are others out there alive whom desperately need our assistance. Funds are being cut for children, legal and shelter services for woman across the country. Agencies whom provide these vital and life saving services now depend on every penny to help its' victims.

Last week on The Susan Murphy Milano show we had as a guest Amy Leichtenberg. She is the mother of Duncan and Jack whom were assassinated last year by their father while on an unsupervised visatation. Allowed by our court system to slaughter innocent children. On the show Amy talked about what got her through the court system while her children were still alive she said it was the programs provided by the agency in her area. She talked about the counseling for her and the therapy and children's programs for her kids. "They looked forward to going each week and healing."

Whether you live in Kansas or California we all saw the news coverage for some 18 months before my least favorite cowardly"dickless wonder" was arrested for the murder of Kathleen Savio. I realize we cannot bring these women or their children back among the living, but, we can take action and support services that are providing a life line for victims of violence and their children.

We all watched the news coverage on MSNBC, Fox News, ABC, NBC, CNN, HLN, our local stations as they brought the horrific plight of two women's lives across our television and Internet screens Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson as their abuser strutted on screen saying "Stacy took off with $25,000 and a red bikini or she left with another man."

We need to send a message of hope to the surviving children of Stacy Peterson whom will never see their mother again by either participating in the event below or making a monetary contribution in honor of Stacy Ann Peterson. The information is below, please a moment to donate whatever you can.

Safety is an Illusion

As a nation we would receive a failing grade in the war against violence in the home. Twenty years ago I had tremendous hope that violence would be a battle won when I signed on to change the world and the stop bloodshed. I was wrong. The magnitude of murder, rape, parental alienation, fear, power and control is an epidemic consuming the lives of families.

Over the weekend an article appeared saying “domestic violence laws need review.” How ridiculous I thought to myself, to review what has never been effective, waste more time and in the process more women will continue to die in their own homes. All the studies are a waste of valuable time that many as I write this simply do not have. An order of protection if you are lucky enough to get one means little without the police, prosecutors and a no tolerance community enforcement of that piece of paper. Granted a court order has saved lives, but in my opinion not enough to fill a gymnasium. I can give a long list of those who did not make it and died because we do not have answers. Instead services are like a patch-work quilt poorly sewn together because there is a lack of commitment and most importantly funding for those in the trenches who are fighting to keep women and children alive, barely, one at a time.

You have women gathered on the internet desperately seeking direction, support advice or help for a lawyer to represent them like human beings or to keep their abuser away from the kids. How about the mom who stayed home to raise her children and cannot even scrape together gas money or car fare to attend a hearing for a court order or a divorce hearing where if she does not show up she defaults like at a spots game losing her home, kids and any financial ability to move forward. If it is a divorce she is the one who must pay child support and continue going to court for issues that are nothing more than a game of clear abuse. With ill skilled court personal playing a game that as of late in leading to death.

Then yet another article appeared “the war at home: domestic violence takes a shocking toll”. What rock has everyone been living under? Where are the articles following the woman pleading in a court of law for an order of protection when she is denied? Where are the reporters asking the important questions to the prosecuting attorney’s , judge's and so called mental health "experts" whom are not doing their jobs? Where is the follow-up after the murders of Jack and Duncan Connelly? Why aren’t the people who investigate and bring us our nightly dose of news demanding answers in a dangerous legal system instead of following live coverage of 30-minute car chases?

Cases such as Drew Peterson have generated lots of dollars for networks and advertising sponsors and will continue to do so when his trial begins sometime this year. Why not gear up and send reporters out to the war torn court houses of America and report accurately on the conditions in which women alive and dead are fighting for their lives.

It is upsetting to see troops rally in the form of doctors and public officials when the media reports the onset of reported flu outbreaks in a few states usually amounting to about 20 people causing folks to take action. And yet we have hundreds of thousands of women murdered or terrorized in their homes and they can not even get carfare to save their lives!

Family Court and the Judicial Murder of Children's Lives

Yesterday, on the Susan Murphy Milano Show we highlighted mothers who have lost custody of their children because the court system in this country is ill equipped to properly deal with family issues involving the safe placement for custody of minor children.

Mental health experts prescribed in court by a judge on a “short list” mandated to determine the fitness of a parent and the well being of the children. What is often not determined is the safety of the child, especially when there are serious issues including sexual abuse, as we heard from Taylor’s mother a case in Virginia that wreaks of cover-up all in the name of winning a sick game called “Maternal Deprivation Abuse”. Imagine a legal system who determines financial matters and legal property disbursements using the same method on human lives under the age of 18 with total disregard for the safety and mental wellness of a child. A legal system taking on the burden of proof and yet throws it in the waste basket under their judicial bench. Sadly, with no regard for human lives and more importantly children unable to defend themselves from two evils the courts and their abuser parent as discussed in Lundy Bancroft latest book.

The switchboard was inundated with calls from across the country from mothers asking for solutions on behalf of the silenced, their own children. After the show the email box filled up quickly because we were unable to get to all the callers woith questions.

One particular note we received on face book happens to be in my neck of the woods in Will County, Illinois. The same county where the trial for Christopher Vaughn is yet to begin for the brutal slayings of Kimberly Ellen Vaughn, 34, and her three children, Abigayle Elizabeth Vaughn, 12; Cassandra Ellen Vaughn, 11; and Blake Philip Vaughn, 8; all of Oswego, were found in June of 2007, shot to death in an SUV in far Illinois southwest. "Neighbors and friends said they were a nice family and a quiet couple."

This of course it is also the same county Drew Peterson was finally arrested for the murder of Kathleen Savio and remains a suspect in the vanishing act of Stacy Peterson. And let us not forget that Lisa Stebic also from Will County going through a divorce has vanished and no one has been arrested. All of these women and in other cases across the country murdered because their abuser’s were not willing to split assets financially, pay child support or allow their wives to move on with their lives. These women fought and lost with their lives all in the name of a system that is like the storybook character humpty dumpty. It cannot be put back together again because it is broken.

The note said: "I know you are an advocate and maybe you can help - Right now in Will County Courthouse there is mother actually fighting for custody of her two little girls that have undergone sexual abuse. She has DNA evidence - Will County Sheriff's police refuse to send evidence over to the DA and she is being given run around. The DCFS case worker is friend of ex-husband's family and refuses to believe that there is anything going on - Basically they want her to recant and submit herself to intensive therapy which is unwarranted... based on her career, lifestyle and children's success from a previous marriage. The action is occurring in Room 300 in the Will County Courthouse- Many wonder how The Connelly children wound up dead... anyone watching in that courtroom can see how awful our family courts can be…."

On Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 3:00 PM Central Time on The Susan Murphy Milano show will continue the discussion on Mothers losing Custody. Returning to the show are Co-Founder of Protective Mothers Alliance and the case of Taylor and her mother’s fight to regain custody of her daughter lost to a system that denies a mother her rights.

If you would like to email your questions before the show we will try to answer them on-air. The address is kindlivingpress01@gmail.com. Please include the state and city where you live as different laws apply.

Mother's Losing Custody on The Susan Murphy Milano Show

In April, 2009, over at Women In Crime Ink I wrote about Amy Leichtenberg who filed orders of protection against Michael Connolly more than once after his repeated physical and emotional abuse in the later years of their marriage. Amy filed for divorce that year and moved out of their home. In a 2006, a petition for a protective order against her husband was filed, saying that his "controlling and obsessive behavior" included threats to kill himself and others along with a series of bizarre demands he made of her. Within a 15-month period, Connolly violated the orders of protection 57 times. He killed both children Jack age 7 and Duncan age 9.

Another form of abuse is referred to as parental alienation, but it is “maternal deprivation abuse” that is when a father makes Mommy pay for wanting to leave the relationship. It also happens during divorce in family court. The abusive husband does everything in their power to make mom crazy, unfit, insane and convinces court appointed mediators, judges and mental health experts to give them custody. This goes beyond parental alienation and the children who grow up without their mothers in these cases grow up to a world of hurt, anger, pain and destruction. Or they wind up murdered by their parent.

It is an epidemic. The legal system is enabling an abuser to continue using money, manipulation and control all because his wife wanted away from her violent relationship or to simply end the marriage.

This form of abuse is also called “maternal deprivation abuse” that is when a father makes Mommy pay for wanting to leave the relationship. It also happens during divorce in family court. Magic Jeannie Is Not an Option for Domestic Violence Victims

Jeanie White from Springville, Utah was found dead in a murder-suicide. Apparently the live-in couple had a history of domestic violence. What disturbs me is the fact that police are quick to point fingers at the dead woman. “Not only did she refuse help from a victim advocate, but also would not cooperate in prosecuting the suspect. “ Then in the next sentence it said “there is evidence the victim was trying to leave.”

She did not pull the trigger of the gun, he did. Furthermore, when these types of crimes reach the newspapers why isn’t there discussion on the dangers of leaving an abusive relationship? It is important to note that perhaps Jeanie White was uncertain as to what the offender would do to her once released from jail so at the time of a prior arrest she opted to live a little longer and refuse assistance at that time from a victim advocate. Pressing charges is not always the best option for a woman. She knows her offender and authories are at a disadvantage, they do not. And these cases are not as simple as they may appear.

Law Enforcement and Prosecutors are under the impression that arresting the offender is like a magic Jeannie popping out of a bottle after a crime between 2 people in a relationship that is some kind of “get out of dodge ticket to freedom for the victim.”

So while the authorities are quick to react and blame the victim they should look into directing their energies into implementing strategies that would go a long way into preventing another crime scene.

Effective methods and stratgies in keeping victims alive is what I do. Perhaps the Prosecutors in Springville, Utah can contact me and we can implement life saving initiatives. My email address is : Contact@murphymilano@gmail.com

Controlling Damage on Murder Cases

Stacy Peterson, Kathleen Savio and Lisa Stebic all lived in Will County, Illinois. Each of these women expected the law enforcement community and the legal system to provide justice against their manipulative, controlling and abusive husbands.

In particular, Kathleen Savio was a real life example of what happens as one woman attempts to get the system to listen to their cries for help, especially when married to someone in law enforcement. The public only learned after an interview with Kathleen's sister of all the letters and documentation when Steph Watts and Mark Furhman spoke with Savio's family. Afterwards, police took the documents from the reporters in an effort to minimize and do damage control.
With so many of these women being murdered by their boyfriends and spouses the public continues to not understand why these women remain or why justice is often denied.
Tonight on Justice Interrupted Investigates we will have a police officers wife on the show from Will County, Illinois. A case that mirror's Kathleen's Savio's. In an attempt to keep this woman alive, her real name cannot be used. But, the names of the judges and lawyers who have basically refused to do their jobs as if they have already affiixed their hand to her impending death certificate will be disclosed. Listen and learn how the system costs women their lives.
Tune in Tonight at 11:00PM EST/ 10:00PM CST/ 8:00PM PST

Or you can listen to the re-broadcast just by going to http://www.justiceinterrupted.blogspot.com/: turn up the volume on your computer and the show will automatically play.

Key Witness From The Grave

A key witness in the murder trial of Theresa Parker died this past weekend. But, thank God the Prosecutor was on the ball and there is now a videotaped deposition in this case.

You remember Sam Parker the former Atlanta Police Sergeant accused of killing his estranged wife, Theresa Parker, who disappeared in March 2007. He also faces three other felonies — computer invasion of privacy, obstructing justice and violation of his oath as a law officer.
Mrs. Cordell, a neighbor of Parker's, testified via deposition for Floyd County District Attorney Leigh Patterson in May.

No surprise that Sam Parker’s lawyer, David Dunn, argued that allowing a deposition would violate his client’s constitutional right to face his accusers. He said the prosecution should bring its witnesses to court as everyone else does. And if you recall Theresa'a body has never been found.

Drew Peterson Continues Slapping Victims!

This past week WLS radio morning radio hosts Cassidy and Mancow accepted a collect call from Drew Peterson who is currently in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility in Joliet.
In true serial abuser form Peterson told some jokes and answered questions about his daily routine.

This past week on Justice Interrupted Investigates we had on forma GMA and Greta Producer Steph Watts investigating this case from day along with Mark Furhman. We learned that wife #2 Vicky Connelly almost died in 1991 when Peterson came into the bar they owed one night and set Vicky home early. He had never done that before. Vicky thought it was strange.
She and a girlfriend headed home but they never made it to their destination. Instead, she and her passenger landed in the hospital, both with near death injuries. It seems someone tampered with the breaks on Vicky’s car and they went over an embankment. This was also around the time Peterson was dating Kathleen Savio.

Peterson has gone from cop to serial homicidal criminal.

I cannot recall time when the media paid so much attention to a man accused of murder, not one but twice. When you highlight this type individual and give them a forum, you are slapping the faces of all victims living and deceased.

We will discuss the barriers for women in this situations face and provide solutions to a road for safety. We will examine the facts in the Kathleen Savio Murder, Linda Yancey, Lori DeKleine Murder and others on why police departments continue conducting business as usual when it comes to investigations within their rank and file.

Guests:
Under the name Cloud Writer the Site Behind The Blue Wall has ensured the voices of police officer wives and girlfriends on crime's perpetrated from behind the blue wall are heard across the country. Police Officer Involved Domestic Violence. Lighting a candle of remembrance for those who've lost their lives to domestic violence behind the blue wall, for strength and wisdom to those still here, and a non-ending prayer for those who thought they had escaped but can't stop being afraid.

Renee Harrington worked in law enforcement and the criminal justice fields, where she authored domestic violence/crime victim programs. As a survivor of officer-involved domestic violence [OIDV], she has dedicated her time to working with victims of OIDV; advocating; educating others/the public about OIDV; authored Michigan OIDV legislation and advocated for laws to protect victims of OIDV. With the help of OIDV Network, She has created Michigan Officer Involved Domestic Violence the first website dedicated to victims and survivors of Officer Involved Domestic Violence in Michigan. In 2008, Laura Spars founded & Jennifer Aukerman co-founded the Michigan Officer-Involved Domestic Violence Corp., and it is a great honor for me to be working side by side with Laura and Jennifer. Current projects I am working on with Michigan Officer Involved Domestic Violence Corp include creating/maintaining MIOIDV's websites and creating Pam's Place for victims of OIDV. No Body, No Problem?

It's not unrealistic to think that any man, feeling threatened by talk of divorce and losing their children and property, could kill his wife. Especially, those men empowered with a uniform, badge and gun within the very community they protect. It is not so difficult to see these men eat, drink and sleep power. They snap, allowing their “life fuse” to short circuit and commit murder.

The person may appear to be a great father to their children and the first to assist anyone in trouble, this is how abusers in blue have set up their lives. Everyone has a perception they are wonderful human beings, often above suspicion. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand an abusive officer has been provided the tools in the criminal world allowing acts of domestic violence and homicide virtually impossible to trace or track back to them in cases including the mothers of their children go missing.

In the case of Drew Peterson, Prosecutors are missing an opportunity to consult with some of the top “No Body” experts in the country. One that comes to mind is Tad DiBiase. He provides not only free consultation to law enforcement and prosecutors but he also has successfully tried these cases where a body has not been found.

On May, 21, 2009, the grand jury will have reached their 18 month limit in hearing evidence and listening to testimony in the Peterson case. If this Grand Jury does not reach a decision to indict my favorite dickless wonder, Drew Peterson, the Will County State’s Attorney will have to begin with another Grand Jury from scratch. It would cost the office nothing to reach out to Attorney Tad DiBiase, he is willing to consult the Will County State’s Attorney’s office pro-bono.

All James Glasgow has to do is contact him. Currently, they are other similar cases in Will County of officers wives whose lives are literally hanging by a very thin thread, Four police officers wives to be exact, one is allegedly from the very same police department where Peterson was employed. The point is, we all hope the grand jury will bring justice for two women and mother’s unable to speak.
If not, a back-up plan should be considered as a solid alternative for a man who is still walking free because he covered his tracks.
Joe Hosey Reporter and Author of the book Fatal Vows writes at the end "Finally, I must acknowledge Stacy Peterson and Kathleen Savio. Although you are not here to tell you stories, I hope I have done you justice."

Let's hope and pray the Grand Jury is in the same frame of mind as Joe Hosey. All anyone is asking is for justice to prevail!

Manhunt For College Professor

Police are searching for George M. Zinkhan III, the 57 year old professor. He is armed and dangerous.

On Saturday after a heated argument, the professor return with two guns 47-year-old Marie Bruce ( his ex-wife and mother of their two children), Ben Teague, 63 (the senior member of the community), and Tom Tanner, 40 (actor who worked at the University of Georgia.)

It is likely he's somewhere on the hills of Georgia. If he is still alive chances are he has gone to a store out of the way in a small town that would not have security cameras and purchased a razor to shave his beard and possibly the top of his head, altering his appearance.

His resume indicates he is a Coca-Cola Company Professor, Department of Marketing and Distribution at the University of Georgia. And he is a co-author of 2 books.

He doesn't sound like a killer? But then again, they never do!

The Susan Murphy Milano Show: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 3:00PM Central Time

Controversy was abuzz when Pastor Rick Warren made the statement that he counsels women to stay in an abusive marriage and try to work things out with their abuser rather than seek divorce. On this show we will hear from a former victim of abuse and a pastor who counsels women and men in troubled relationships. We will discuss how God intervenes to rescue and heal victims and how churches are advising victims to safely resolve the issues of violence in their families.

Tine In: 3:00Pm Central Standard Time 4:00PM Eastern Standard Time

Today's Guests:
Tanya Warrington is a freelance writer with over 50 publications in magazines and anthologies. She was formerly a victim of incest, teenage date rape, spousal abuse, and the mother of children who were assaulted by a pedophile. Her life used to be just about surviving and keeping her emotions as numb as possible, until God rescued her and began healing her. Now Tanya inspires other victims and former victims to pursue living, not just surviving. Her blog, DazzlingWings.blogspot.com, is a warm and encouraging place where wounded hearts can learn and grow as they share their journeys of healing. She is the author of two booklets: How to Help Her: A Guide for Family and Friends of Abused Wives and Girlfriends and Shining the Light: How Pastors and Church Leaders Can Help Abused Wives.

Neil Schori serves as lead pastor of Naperville Christian Church. Neil has a Master of Arts in counseling from Lincoln Christian Seminary. Over the past 10 years, Neil has served full-time in several pastoral roles ranging from family care and counseling to community groups and assimilation. Just months before her disappearance, Stacy Peterson, called Pastor Schori for an individual appointment. Shortly after she went missing, Pastor Shori courageously stepped forward with information that Stacy confided in him about her knowledge of her husband, Drew Peterson's involvement with the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. We will learn what advice and methods are used in his sessions and how he believes God and the church works with these women during their journey. http://resurrectedheart.com/http://www.napervillechristian.org/

Full Strength Prescription For Preventing Murder

[Defense Attorney Chiquita Tate 38 Years Old]

On February 20, 2009, police disovered the body of a woman who believed in the justice system so much Chiquita Tate had a tatoo on her back. She was a good lawyer. But she let her guard down when she let her estranged husband into her secure law offices. She was stabbed 38 times.
No surprises here, her husband was arrested and charged with her murder last week.

Chiquita had secured an apartment for herself and she was divorcing her husband. With whom police found enough evidence in her murder to finally make an arrest.

Nearly 80% percent of murders involving husbands, former and intimate partners in the United States occur either when the woman leaves the relationship or shortly afterward. Usually with a 24 month period.

This tragedy is important for anyone who is ending a relationship where like Chiquita there was a history of domestic violence. Yes it's good to get an order of protection but have a plan in place with the court order. If you do not it is like receiving half of a prescripton.

Never open a locked door to a person with whom you are ending a realtionship.
Never agree to meet the person to "talk things out."

Obtain a new cell phone number. Keep the old one and let it take messages. There is no law that says you have to respond in person or verbally on the phone.

Once you say to anyone who is abusive "I am ending the relationship or I am leaving", you better have an immediate plan in place. You cannot say anything about divorcing, seperating or leaving unless you are out of the residence or in a safe place where you cannot be contacted or located.

Thousands of women are being murdered. If you are involved in a violent abusive or stalking related relationship either current or former, you better have a full strength presciption for safety.

Look for answers on how to leave with your life my new show every Wednesday at 3:00 PM Central Standard Time.

Lights, Camera, Action, Murder?

People magazine is again featuring Drew Peterson and his current relationship Christina Raines in their March 26, 2009 issue. The first time Peterson was on the cover he was in uniform just a few short months after Stacy Peterson vanished.

I have written over one hundred blogs on this endless media circus because each day Drew Peterson walks among us as a free man is a reminder to me Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson did not have the same opportunity. And when magazine and televisions shows feature (in my opinion) this abusing murdering walking talking criminal silently slapping his deceased wives in their faces as though their lives meant nothing. As they [the publishers] laugh all the way to bank selling magazines featuring a man and his current love interest as though they are celebrities.

I take personal interest in cases where justice has clearly been interrupted. I am not a cop, attorney or social worker. I am a former business woman turned advocate and author when my own world was rocked, abruptly turned inside out by my father a Chicago Violent crimes detective, after years of abuse murdered my mother in cold blood, before committing suicide.

Drew Peterson has joined a growing number of men who have yet to be charged in their wives murders.

It is evident from the people magazine article society has become immune in cases where men murder in cold blood for the sake of financial gain and we place them on a throne of power.

If you really have to buy the magazine this week, I suggest your money is better spent on finding a food pantry in your area and dropping off a bag of groceries in memory of Stacy Peterson and Kathleen Savio.

Nearly Sixty percent of battered women, who unlike Kathleen and Stacy were able to escape their violent abuser’s are now among the homeless in this country.

Battered women who are homeless would rather struggle to be free from the violence, then to live with the daily uncertainty of dying at the hands of any person who steels their freedom and threatens their very existence.

Mother's day in just around the corner. In memory of these two courageous women who struggled to escape, please send donations to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence or a food pantry in your area.
