On April 2, 2008, Bethanie Dougherty  vanished from her home her home on Jennings Creek Road in KILLAWOG, N.Y.

The shear anguish of not knowing where this woman, mother of three, daughter, sister and friend to so many increases the anxiety and pain victims families experience three hundred and sixty five days a year seven days a week. The vanishing have no voice, but once found, the clues in their disappearance and untimely death tell often tell the story.

Her cell phone, keys and car remained at the home.   Her son was the last person to see his mother alive before he went to bed that night At approximately 3:00 AM, A neighbor heard screams and called 911. Bethanie was reported missing later that day.  A massive air and land search  was conducted but, nothing turned up

The case is registered and with the CUE Center for Missing Persons a world-wide organization working with families bringing awareness and conducting searches when a loved one goes missing. The New York State Police, The FBI, Project Jason and others have also helped get the word out. Fliers were widely distributed, not just locally, but around the state and the country. The family has also created a Web site, www.findbethaniedougherty.com. In addition, Bethanie's case was included in a program that distributes playing cards to jail inmates with pictures and information about unsolved cases on the cards."

Police continue to search for clues, and there is a $15,000 reward being offered by the family.  If you have any information, you're asked to call the Broome County Sheriff's office at 315-778-1196. "Abracadabra"

"Abracadabra" is commonly used as an incantation by stage magicians and their imitators. If you stop and think about it controlling and violent abusers do the same thing when their wives and girlfriends with whom they have lost control, suddenly vanish.

An abuser is similar to a magician, only their stage is behind closed doors. There are far too many imitators to list but they each appear to follow the same pattern. It varies from case to case, but in the end the magic act is identical. The women always vanish and usually without a trace.

More often than not, the abuser magician does not report the mother of his children or soon to be ex-wife missing. That responsible usually falls on a concerned family member. When Illinois mother and wife Lisa Stebic simply vanished did Craig Stebic contact police or was it her family? How about when Stacy Peterson disappeared? Who made out the police report? When Susan Powell of Utah went missing (more like erased from the planet) wasn’t it her family that contacted authorities? How about Tabitha Franklin, Rachel Conger, Rachel Anderson, Renee Pernice, Star Boomer, Jana Morton, Carrie Ann Monroe, Theresa Parker, Vensus Stewart, Liza Murphy or Pamela Knight. There is not enough space to list the thousands of victims of violence labeled in some detective's desk drawer or filing cabinet across the country, as the person responsible, in my opinion, plays a clever game of catch me if you can. “ I didn’t do it”. “I have no idea where they could be, we are doing everything to help police find her. But really, does anyone ever see these abusers go out on searches and look for their wives or girlfriends?

My favorite response to these “abuser magicians” who, in my opinion, commit murder, is when they retain an attorney. All you hear their legal representative say is, “my client is innocent” or “the police are only speculating at this point” or “no comment.” With the exception of one defense lawyer, who likely has his bald head shined and polished for the cameras at least once a day, if not twice, depending on how much spin he can make out of his famous dick less wonder of a serial abuser client whom is about to stand trial for murder; then you can expect a real magical act to appear in full costume in the courtroom and before the cameras.

These cases have, for the most part, turned into a tragic magical circus act with innocent lives hijacked, set briefly on a world stage, until the following day when another magician tries their hand at successfully making the mother of their children, and or wife, vanish without a trace.

If you or a loved one are preparing to leave an abusive relationship or are being stalked, please consider the importance pf creating the “Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit" and video. It is a sworn statement detailing the facts of an individual’s victimization, preserving the specifics so they are not lost, even if the victim is. It's difficult to think about speaking from the grave, but no different than any life insurance policy or living will obtained in consideration for those left behind in cases of domestic violence and stalking related crimes. [Below is the example for you to follow to create the document in the event you suddenly vanish or go missing]

Heather Mallory's Case Remains Unsolved

March 7, 2008 is a long time for the family of Heather Cole from Portland, Oregon who went missing nearly 27 months ago, to continue without answers.

For families of unsolved or missing persons ,time on a clock literally stands still the moment they receive information a loved one is missing or has been found dead.

Brian Cole, Heather’s husband, and their 5-year-old son have since moved from the Portland Oregan area and now live somewhere Idaho. Her body was never been found, but police think she is dead. I should also mention Brian, her husband, failed a lie detector test last year, but as any defense attorney worth their salt would tell you, taking a lie detector does not mean a person is guilty of a crime.

According to the husband, he informed police Heather Mallory stayed out all night partying on March 7th and came home to her southeast Portland apartment the next morning.

Her husband, Brian Cole, confronted her about her all-nighter. That was the last known time anyone saw Heather alive and Cole says she left after the argument. I should also report that she was four months pregnant. Another case, in my opinion, where a person with possible motive is the only one to have a story and the last to see the person who vanished alive. As we all know, a mother never, ever just leaves their child behind.

Police think she’s dead but have yet to find a body. Her car was found abandoned, and her cell phone has had zero activity, as well as as her credit card. Steve and Jeni Mallory—Heather’s parents—talk to police every week hoping something turns up. But. in these cases when there are no witnesses or if someone did see or hear something, they often talk themselves out of coming forward. It makes it difficult for law enforcement to continue investigating a case. It goes cold and sits in a dark file cabinet until a new pair of eyes reviews the case or a reporter does a follow-up to a story.

It is worth mentioning the couple allegedly had marital problems with the police reposnding to a domestic call for help in the home and Heather securing a court order of protection.

Brian Cole remains only a person of interest.

No one had the right to take her life and we have a responsibility in these cases to seek justice for those who are no longer able to speak for themselves. If you know anything about this case please contact the authorities at the number below. All calls are confidential. And your identity will be protected.

Anyone with additional information regarding the case is encouraged to call Detective Mike Weinstein, Portland Police Bureau- Missing Persons Unit (503) 823-0446.

Heather Mallory is a 5-foot-5, 120-pound white female with blonde hair and brown eyes.

There is a cash reward of up to $8,000 for information that leads to a resolution in Mallory’s case. Those who may have information are asked to call 503-823-HELP

"Mourning Mommy"

The haunting call from a young teenager nearly 16 years ago would be one of several I would receive during my career from children whose mothers were murdered at the hands of their father.

Some kids have called to ask does the pain every stop while others just want to learn the truth behind the women who gave them life. Someplace in the conversation would always be the question, Why? How could this have happened? "My mom was such a good person and she didn't deserve to be murdered.

During this particular call the young man was angry that his father did not go to jail for killing his mother. "How did my father walk from a slam dunk case" Edward asked. I comforted him as best I could trying in someway to relieve his pain with similar unanswered questions, I too, had when my own father murdered my mother. Before I ended the call I said" you and I in a private club, whose membership is growing."

Who would ever believe, years later in another state as I was ending a conversation with a women whose father had also killed her mother, Edward now a man in his early thirties with a family of his own would hear me repeat those very words as he stood before me. "Your name, what's your name" Edward demanded to know. I responded with another name that I use for safety reasons. "No, no! That is not your name. Your that women I spoke with", as he explained
his own private hell to me. "There is only one person I ever heard say what you just told that called and she helped me figure out things after I learned my father killed my mom."

The next day Edward came to me with documents from 1974, the year his mother Judy Topp was murdered. Edward had already gone through old case files, talking with officers who were listed on police reports and court files. Nothing made sense.

"I kept having these terrible nightmares-I was walking through an apartment building with so many doors-I walked through the last door until I came across my father sitting up in bed without his shirt, next to a woman with half her head blown off. It was mother he killed, my dream was real." After further investigation we learned Edwards father had hired a lawyer for $10,000 and got him acquitted during a bench trial.

Recently, we spoke. "Somedays I want justice, and other days I just want to die. I can never be close to people again. I don't feel whole-like I am incomplete somehow. No one see's the real me. I feel like I am living a lie.

I want to honor my mother, but that is not really possible. Maybe somehow from heaven the words from my heart can reach her now. Edward's mother would be proud of how her son out in the world . And yes, as long as she lives in his heart, the angels will always carry the message of his love and honor for a woman who died without justice being served. Judith Top was born on January 28, 1953 and died on November 23, 1974.
This is a topic untouched. Fathers murdering women and leaving their children behind with unanswered questions. On June 10, 2009 at 3:00PM Central time, on The Susan Murphy Milano show, we will discuss the topic of children whose fathers have killed their mothers. It is an important subject. As the lives of the children who witness violence and terror in their homes if they survive, live the remainder of their days on earth often in darkness and without hope.
Please join me for this very special hour.

A New Crime Category - "The Vanishing Voice Club"

Rosa Lisowski, 48, Mother of 4

Bethanie Dougherty 40 Years old
Mother of 3 Children

Heather Malloy, Age 32 Mother of 1
____________________________________________________________________

Three women from different parts of the Country. Each has something in common. These missing wives and mothers have vanished. Membership to this particular club has grown in numbers, during the years.

Rosa Lisowski, from SanDiego vanished after walking her son to school on March 24, 2008. She and her huband were involved in a messy custody and divorce battle. The prime suspect her husband. Actually, Henry Lisowski is the only one who had reason to murder Rosa.

Bethanie Doughtery, New York. Taken from her home at three in the morning. Neighbors heard screams on April 2, 2008 and called police. She was apparently abducted from her home. Maybe police could check into current court records with Bethanie's estranged, husband? She has not been seen since. Story link: http://news10now.com/content/all_new...n/Default.aspx

Heather Malloy, Oregon, according to her husband, on March 8, 2008, they had a heated argument. She has not been scene since. Police need to get this case moving. A good place to begin is the court order of protection Heather took out against the oh so grief stricken Husband
And she has a 9 month old child. In my opinion, highly unlikely, that she just left. No credit cards have been used and she has not been scene since he made the police report. Story Link: http://www.kptv.com/news/15629512/detail.html

Others who are members :
Theresa Parker, Georgia- Police Officers Wife
Lisa Stebic, Illinois
Stacy Peterson, Illinois
Kathleen Savio, Illinois
Suzanne, Grattan, New Mexico

I write about these cases with passion. In hopes that those considering a divorce who live in a violent, toxic environment will have the courage to leave. And prepare their new life and journey with extreme caution.

It is painfully evident, society and the legal system do not respond to victim's of family violence. You must create a plan, get out for yourself, before something happens.

As I look at the calendar , I am reminded of someone very special to me who also became a member in the "vanishing voice club." Roberta Murphy, Illinois. A woman, who each time I write about another tragedy and offer my insight and direction to others, I do so not because she was murdered. But, because I survived. And since her death, have assisted thousands of women in safely leaving the violence and on to a new life.

If you are in a violent relationship, you need to begin making plans for a life without the threat of violence. Do you live in a rural community, isolated from others? Or maybe you are married to someone in law enforcement, consider contacting the National Coalition. They have a toll free number you can call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. They will direct you to a safe place to stay, referrals for legal services, counseling for you and your children and help with a safety plan. The number is 1-800-799-SAFE.

You can also go to the library and pick up a copy of "Defending Our Lives" getting away from domestic violence & staying safe. The book explains everything you need to begin on your journey to a violent free life. You can contact me through my website at http://www.movingoutmovingon.com/

I almost forgot, Happy Birthday, Mom!!!!
