"YOU DON'T OWN ME"
Maybe we might save a few in the future from headlines of their own on the news because they were killed by an abusive husband or boyfriend. See, they never got the message. Or they listened and believed the lyrics in a song by a girl your daughters age, idolized by millions, whom came close herself in February of 09 to being carried off in a designer body bag.
Today, your teenagers many are without your knowledge in harmful dating relationships listening to songs like the one Rihanna recently recorded with famed abuser and rap artist eminem the song titled "Love The Way You Lie." They (your teenagers) believe that violence is accceptable, maybe even enjoyable because a woman by the name of Rihanna a victim herself, beaten and bloodied by singer Chris Brown for all the world see, is basically saying come on its not so bad to live in fear or be beaten. What is the worst that can happen? Hey like in their video you will be burned to death by a man who claims he loves you. That is the message the song is sending to your kids. Go ahead, try it. You have nothing to lose but your life.
The lyrics in the song are deadly ..."just gonna stand there and watch me burn- stand there and hear me cry that’s alright because I love the way you lie” then the rap artist abuser chimes in and sings "I love you too much to walk away I apolioze if she every tries to f...cking leave again I am going to tie her to the bed and watch her burn." Their video you will just have to go to youtube and watch, I refuse to put a link to it.

Today's guest is Susie Kroll, an expert in teen dating violence, will discuss healthy teen dating relationships and how they translate into strong and healthy adult relationships.

Intimate Partner Homicide Investigation: Monday September 27, 2010 at 9:00 PM

The mother of two was supposed to pick up her son, Ryan, at the bus stop after school that afternoon, but in her stead an older family friend was there to meet him. Returning Ryan to his home, they found it locked and no sign of Lisa, although her car, along with a car she had borrowed, were still in her driveway. After Lisa's parents were called they all entered the house and found no signs of struggle, and the only thing missing was her purse. It looked as if Lisa planned to return shortly, even a pot of tea was on the stove, her jewelry on the kitchen counter.
Lisa was a single mother, an excellent mother according to family sources, her two children knew they were loved, well taken care of, and that she would never leave them of her own free will. So what happened to Lisa?
And on May 10, 2010 Wendy Stevens cautiously went about her day. After work, she picked up her kids and at 6:45 p.m. was at a drive-thru ATM, with her four children in the car, when five rounds of gunfire blasted into the SUV, killing the 36 year old mother 36-year-old mother from Mobile, Alabama. Immediately after the shooting, an all-points bulletin was issued for the now-armed and dangerous Berry. He was apprehended and charged the following day with Wendy's murder and held on $500,000 bond.

Theresa Parker: Can Finally Go Home

Theresa Parker, a 911 dispatcher with the Walker County Sheriff’s office in Atlanta, vanished without a trace in March of 2007. She was going through a divorce with her estranged husband Sgt. Sam Parker, a Police Officer in Lafayette.
Sam claimed as so many whom commit intimate partner homicide,” he had nothing to do with her disappearance.” And they she “ran away to start a new life.”
In September 2009, a jury found Sam Parker guilty of malice murder after a three week trial, even though Theresa's body had never been found. Judge Jon "Bo" Wood sentenced him to serve the rest of his life in prison.
Today, at news conference officials announced the remains of Theresa Parker were found off Fullerton Road in Lyerly -- southwest of Summerville in rural Chattooga County. Ironically, this is the area Sam knew very well.
In cases of Intimate Homicide when a victim’s suddenly vanishes, often when remains are finally discovered, the killer almost always goes to a place that is familiar specifically to them. In this case it was near Sam Parker’s childhood home, an area he knew better than anyone.
Today, from behind the blue wall Theresa Parker's voice, although silenced is finally going home with her family where she belongs. The discovery of her remains elimates the possibility for Parker to file an appeal (because he can no longer claim there is not a body) and ask the higher courts for a new trial.

Crime Wire Investigates: Tonight 9:00 PM EST

Gang violence allegedly claimed the life of an innocent victim in Modesto, California at about 1 a.m. on August 24, 2003. Lacy Ferguson, a 25-year-old single mother, was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
According to local authorities, Lacy and her boyfriend, John Ritchie, were in a convenience store parking lot located in an area that has experienced gang activity in the past. Suddenly shots rang out, catching them by surprise. The shooters were in a dark colored vehicle that cruised slowly through the parking lot. The police believe there were at least two Hispanic males in the car, and that their target was a gang-banger named Adrian Vega. Neither Lacy nor John knew Vega; they just happened to be passing by his parked car. John and Lacy were struck by bullets. Fortunately for John, his wounds were not life-threatening. But Lacy’s were fatal. Although there were several witnesses to the incident, no arrests were made and the case remains unsolved.
However, Lacy's mother, Boni Driskill, has not given up on getting justice for Lacy. She has worked tirelessly to keep the story alive and in the public eye. Boni is president of Wings of Protection, a victim’s advocacy group that she co-founded with Susan Levy, the mother of Chandra Levy, the intern murdered in Washington, DC in 2001, and Donna Raley, step-mother of Dena Raley McClusky, who went missing in October 1999. Dena’s body was found eight years later.
Brian Sullivan disappeared early in the morning of July 8, 2007. According to reports, the a 19-year-old Churchville-Chili High graduate had spent the previous evening watching a movie at a friend’s house, then bought breakfast at the drive-through of a Chili Avenue Burger King. Investigators found a receipt for the food stamped with the time of 5:38 a.m. in Brian’s car. The red 1995 Pontiac Sunfire was found in front of a 100-acre wooded area on nearby Lettington Avenue.
The story made all the local news outlets, and family members passed out or hung posters bearing Brian’s smiling picture and asking for help in the search. When the search didn’t turn up useful leads, the Sheriff’s Office turned to the New York Branch of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for additional help.
Joining us is Brian’s mother Barbara Sullivan and Monica Caison founder of the non-profit CUE Center for Missing Persons, which is focused on finding the missing, advocating for their causes, and supporting their families.
Offering a wide range of free services, CUE has since helped more than 8,700 families in what is often the most confusing and desperate times of their lives. In addition to providing services for the missing and their families, CUE offers college internships and youth mentoring programs.

Family Courts "Splattered in Blood"

On Friday, Norma Goher, the children's mother dropped off the kids to their father, the couple was divorced, and he was to return them back to her on Sunday. The family court knew Muhammed was not stable and yet the judge went ahead and signed the order for visitation anyway. A hearing on visitation issues and removal of overnight visits with the father was scheduled for September 27th. In my opinion, one more time of court mandated "daddy time", cost the kids their lives.
There is an automatic presumption that it is in the best interest of a child “regardless of court orders”, prior violence or threats, to maintain visitation with both parents. Victims of domestic violence face a double edged sword. Either expose their children to imminent danger, or defy the court system refusing to allow visitation. Like so many others before her, Norma atttempted to deal with a violent relationship in a dysfunctional family court environment.
In family court the two parties are presumed to be on a level playing field--law abiding individuals who have a disagreement over a private family matter. A core assumption of family law is that family disputes are not criminal disputes. As such, there are few safeguards built into the family court system to protect against the criminal dynamics that dominate family disputes in cases of family violence. In addition, the accusations the victim makes in family court, no matter how serious, carry no more authority than one person's say so. One of the most serious consequences is that when a family violence victim opens a case in family court against her abuser, the abuser is given equal opportunity to fight back against the victim's accusations, often because the abusers past is not an issue. Unless, of course, he is brought in from county or state prison sporting an orange jump suit and leg shackles.
There are lawyers and men’s groups who argue using domestic violence with a broad brush is not a reason to deny fathers visitation with their children. Accusing mothers of lying or making up stories to keep fathers’ from their children.
Under the current laws, a parent without custody is entitled "reasonable visitation." There is a high burden of proof as evidenced in this case when a court refuses to take into account dangerous abusers pose to their children.
Until we place the issue of labeling these cases as a "private matter" or an isolated incident, expect the death toll among children to rise. Expect the courts to continue to ignore obvious danger signs when a victim of violence is or has ended the relationship.
After killing his children, he shot himself in the head, but remains alive and is expected to survive the attempted suicide.

Drew Peterson: Part 4 Profiling a Psychopath

When Stacy Cales began dating psychopath Drew Peterson, the teenager was easily swept off her feet. While they were dating Stacy received the news she was going to be a mother. Like the character Tarzan, Peterson beat on his chest shouting like an ape jumping through the forest of life , proud he had once again sired another child.
Within approximately a 30 year time frame he would show the world just how good his plumbing worked, fathering a total of 6 children.
Stacy Cales, now under the "dangerous love spell" did not to pay much attention to the drama in Peterson's life once he proposed marriage. She was too busy preparing for her own Cinderalla journey. Although not yet divorced from Kathleen Savio, Drew Peterson plowed through the dysfunctional forest in his old life to create a new palace for his future bride and unborn child. Stacy had no way to see the danger signs of being in a pathological love relationship with a psychopath. Peterson was clever and manipulative enough with Stacy to cover his scent of danger and replace it with things like a home, a nice car, clothes and jewelry. And remember she was a mere teenager, now under the spell of a psychopath.
In author Sandra Brown, M.A.; book "Women Who Love Psychopaths" she provides a checlist for Tarzan. (oops I meant Drew Peterson)
Psychopathy Charactertistics (defined)
glib and superficial charm
grandiose (exaggeratedly high) estimation of self
need for stimulation
pathological lying
cunning and manipulativeness
lack of guilt or remorse
shallow affect (superficial emotional responsiveness)
callousness and lack of empathy
sexual promiscuity
impulsivity
irresponsibility
This list applies to Drew Peterson, but it also applies to those currently involved with dangerous men as outlined in Sandra Brown, M.A., other book "How To Spot a Dangerous Man." So Peterson is an example and joins over 6 million others just like him who swing daily from the dysfunctional forest of behaviors that have already cost too, many unsuspecting women their lives.

Intimate Partner Homicide Investigation: The Sheila Deviney Murder Case- Monday at 9:00 PM EST

By Sheryl McCollum, Holly Hughes and Susan Murphy Milano
Sheila Deviney (right), 30, died on January 6, 2004, when her mobile home, located about one mile east and one mile south of Maysville, Oklahoma, burned to the ground. She was murdered. It should be no surprise that Sheila had been married to an abusive, controlling man. They had a court date over past-due child support scheduled the next day. According to eye witnesses, her ex-husband was at the home, although by law not allowed on the premises. He and another friend destroyed evidence and took items from the home.
______________________________________________________________________
In Garvin County, Oklahoma, what the heck are they trying to do now on the Sheila Deviney murder case? Escalated, threats and cover-up has heated when Intimate Partner Homicide Investigation first featured this case in August. Now, the State is trying to destroy crucial evidence in the case.

On Intimate Partner Homicide Investigation will be the family of Sheila Deviney and Shannon Kile with The Eleventh Commandment, Monday, September 13, 2010 at 9:00 PM EST

Drew Peterson: The Chicago Sun-Times "Blood on the Rocks"

Once again, without any regard for Kathleen Savio or Stacy Peterson’s family the Chicago Sun-Times has printed another letter from former Bolingbrook police Sergeant and Serial Psychopath Drew Peterson. No surprise, it was hand delivered likely over a scotch on the rocks with a splash of soda in the bar at the East Bank Club by Peterson’s head legal marshmallow roaster and chicken wing salesman.

The final blow was seeing the photo of 5 out of the 6 children submitted by a psychopath to steer the public away from the facts: Kathleen Savio the mother of 2 of the 5 children in the photo is dead. And Stacy Peterson, the mother of the two youngest, Lacy and Anthony was denied the opportunity to be there for either of her children’s first day of school, forever!

Drew Peterson: Part 2 : Profiling a Psychopath

Kathleen Savio: In 1992, Kathleen Savio accountant in her late twenties when a mutual acquaintance who happened to be a police officer’s wife set up a blind date for her to meet Drew Peterson. What Kathleen did not know at the time was Drew was still married to his second wife Vicki Connelly. But, Drew charmed her telling Kathleen he was divorcing Vicki because she was a herion addict. And what would Drew have to gain by lying? A clever psychopath always pre-sets the stage for their prey. In addition, he sealed his love bond with Kathleen knowing damn well she would never make contact with Vicki, much less allow the woman anywhere near her.
Within a few short months Peterson quickly moved through the stages of psychopath attraction (as detailed in the book) and bonding like "road runner on crack" asking Kathleen to marry him. With excitement in her voice she called members of her family to share the news of the couple’s engagement and impending marriage. Kathleen felt good about her decision knowing she was marrying a man who made her feel safe and secure. And in a blink of an eye, they were married.

Don't Wait Until It's Too Late!
_____________________________________________________________________________________
No one feels this sense of overwhelming hopelessness more than a woman who is a victim of domestic abuse. She is often overwrought with emotion, vibrating with anxiety and frozen in fear. Too often, women stay in a state of paralysis, wanting to leave but not knowing how to accomplish it.

Doing nothing is not an acceptable option. The status quo is not viable in the long term. Too many women are lost in that place, becoming victims to the ultimate form of domestic violence—homicide.
Fear is the most powerful of emotions. Its most worthy adversary is a concrete step-by-step plan. But how can a woman conceive of a workable plan when not thinking clearly? Now, there is an answer, a guide, a recipe for survival—Time’s Up by Susan Murphy Milano. It is a handbook that can save a woman’s life.
I was stunned when I read through this book. It begins with a simple and clear explanation of abuse—a thorough and thought-provoking summary that left me shaking and in tears as I recognized the emotional trauma of one of my early relationships—trauma that I’d tried hard to deny.
Susan then goes through everything you need to do in preparation for departure, step by step. With her advice, a woman can turn a helter-skelter act of desperation into a well-planned and executed course of action that elevates her safety and reduces her risk.
It is vital to keep the safety factors clearly in view because the most dangerous window of time in any woman’s life is the moment she decides to leave a relationship up until two years after she acts upon it. Time’s Up is full of precautions, tips, forms and reassurances that will guide a woman every step of the way. Susan introduces the concept of an Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit, a written document and a taped interview, that documents injuries—both physical and emotional—and can serve as a woman’s best life insurance policy.
If a woman is in a controlling relationship since her teenager years and knows nothing about leading an independent life, Time’s Up, covers the tiniest detail including how to read a lease and sign up for utilities. If a woman is sophisticated, educated and aware, this handbook fills in many of the gaps and unforeseen complications that might catch her unawares and put her life at risk.
I wrote Gone Forever about a remarkable woman named Susan McFarland who lost her life at her husband’s hand. Susan was a planner. She attended to many details about her separation from her husband. But she overlooked some steps because she did not imagine a need for that extra level of caution. Susan Murphy Milano, both through her own personal experience and her work as a domestic violence advocate, can imagine them and help a woman navigate safely through dangerous straits. I am convinced that Susan McFarland might still be alive today if she had used Time’s Up to plan the end of her relationship.
This handbook should be available at every law enforcement agency, divorce attorney’s office, emergency room, library and battered women’s shelter. Doctors and pastors should hand it out to women in need of the advice it contains.

I also think that any woman who has a concern about domestic violence should have a copy of Time’s Up in her library. We won’t all need it for our own personal safety but one day, when we least expect it, a friend, a family member, a coworker, some woman in our orbit, will need it. Time’s Up can save a life—many times over.

Who Murdered Irma Rodriquez?

“I am a family member and am extremely disappointed that the case has gone on deaf ears. I took Irma in the first time when husband tried to kill her and advised her to be strong and continue her life without him, but sometimes fear wins. Unfortunately, my dear niece is not here. Her keen spirit, those special memories, contagious smile and strength in God will live on in our hearts. I hope other women are reading this article and take seriously their current situation if there is any violence. Get out while there is time!”
In June of 2009, Irma Rodriguez, age 45,mother of three, was discovered in the trunk of her car. She had been shot dead. Just 3 days away from finalizing her divorce in Cook County, IL.
Norberto Rodriguez, is the "poster boy" of an dangerous and violent offender. During the couple's fifteen year marriage, orders of protection were filed, police were called to the home and Irma lived in fear for her life. In 1997, Norberto Rodriguez was charged with attempted first-degree murder after an argument in which he was accused of shooting Irma in the hand. Norberto was acquitted of the charges, but lost his job as a Chicago Police officer as a result. And in 2002, Norberto was arrested in connection with transprting heroin. He plead guilty and was sentenced to 52 months in federal prison and was released sometime in 2007.
As a victim of abuse Irma Rodriguez knew that if did not do as she was told by
Norberto, she would end up dead. Some people who knew her might question why she did not divorce him while in federal prison when she had the chance. It is not that easy. First she needed a plan and she was raising their children. Just because her husband was in jail did not necessarily equate to freedom. Even behind bars he controlled Irma with others on the outside. Norberto had strong ties to the street gangs and he made certain Irma knew her activities were always being monitored.
Since her murder, no one has been arrested. And according to sources authorities have no wtinesses to the crime. Perhaps if police released a photo of Norberto Rodriguez maybe someone would recognize him. Or if police decided, as they should, that Norberto Rodriquez is the only person with motive and he needs to be brought in for questioning. But to date the case is as dead as Irma Rodriguez was when her body was pulled out from the trunk of her car.
Maybe someone from the family can contact me to move this case from a cold metal file cabinet and into the light where it belongs, Irma's case could be solved. I can be reached at murphymilano@gmail.com
