The Roth Show Live Tonight 7:00 PM Eastern The War Against Women

The Roth Show: War Against Women with Barry Goldstein and Mo Hannah

 Listen LIVE: http://therothshow.com

Join Dr. Laurie Roth and Susan Murphy Milano each

Wednesday from 7-8ET

From a recent post on Time’s Up! by Barry Goldstein, he states, “Sexism is critical to the discussion of domestic violence because it causes men to abuse their partners based on a sense of entitlement and superiority. It promotes many other practices and policies that mistreat women such as the issues that led to discussion of the Republican war on women. Most people become deeply insulted and angered when called sexist, but most sexism is far more subtle than the over-the-top hateful comments recently made by Rush Limbaugh. Good and caring men engage in sexist behavior, often without realizing they are doing so. I would urge Republican leaders, as well as Democrats and independents to avoid the normal defensiveness in responding to accusations of sexist behavior.”  (to read entire article CLICK HERE)
Barry Goldstein and Mo Hannah will be on hand for the hour to discuss the politics of the war on women and offer solutions, and by taking proper actions, to improve the conditions in our society.

Tragedy In Tin Can Holler

Tragedy in Tin Can Holler" is a captivating important true story of a family's past transgressions revealing a family member who was a serial killer that got away with murder during the great depression, incest and child abuse, lies and betrayals and domestic violence buried for decades! The vicious murder of the author's mother haunted her for 48 years, but discovering the truth about her mother's murder was just the tip of the iceberg. Her story and the murder of her mother is spell-bounding as she unveils the hidden secrets that shocked the residents of three counties in southeast Tennessee.

It is about a subject caught up in a place and time where the issue of domestic violence has for far too long been swept with the broom in an epidemic that has plaged our nation since the begining of time. It wil move the reader to tears and applaud the author for a tear moving page turner.

Dysfunctional Legal System Leads To Murder

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that Drew Peterson's strategy from my favorite legal marshmallow defense team was going to be to file a motion in court asking for the removal of the Illinois Heresay law before a trial begins sometime in 2010.

And we can all be sure, similar to toilet paper out of a bathroom stall, that Peterson's defense team, if the motion is denied, will roll it all the way to the supreme court. They do not want the testimony of Kathleen's Savio's divorce attorney Harry Smith or the conversation between Pastor Neil Schori and Stacy Peterson among others to be allowed as Hearsay testimony under the new Illiniois law because the defense is claiming it is unconstitutional. I saw bravo to this ridiculous tactic that only makes the prosecutions case stronger. Consider the documentation by Kathleen Savio up to the date of her death. The order of protection, although granted and eventually dropped, was in fact initially given to Kathleen by a judge after she provided sworn testimony as to the abuse suffered during her marriage to Peterson. The defense cannot declare that the photo's of the beatings, hospital reports and letters sent by Kathleen to the Will County State's Attorney's office as inadmissible, but don't be surprised if they attempt to file a motion against that too.

This case is about a legal system that is as dysfunctional and dangerous for all women married to abusive and psychopathic men. This is one woman out of millions similar to Kathleen Savio who happen to be married to a violent offender with a badge to whom in my opinion, lost her life. A woman whose cries for help fell on deaf ears when she called the police for help from inside her home to the courthouse steps where she was turned away and then at her very own botched crime scene.

Where Is The Asylum For American Women?

Apparently, our government is seriously considering granting asylum for battered women from other countries. Now there is a concept! Curious, I contacted a church that helps those granted asylum and learned when our government provides assistance, the person is given housing, placed on public aide amounting to approximately $2,000 a month and in many cases a second hand vehicle so they can get around. And other perks depending on the individual’s needs. We cannot take care of victims of abuse in our own country. Why are we extending a hand to foreigners? Is the abuse different or more life threatening from the women in our own country?

Women whom are born in United States are living in the same conditions as those the government has offered to help with little to no options for safety and proper services to escape their abusers. I personally know several hundred women whom are beaten, raped, kept like prisoners in their own homes and forced to deal with their abusers one way or the other or else they will be killed, identical life threatening situations as the women in the New York Times article. Where is the asylum for American women?

If our government can come up with a way to house, educate and find jobs for battered women from other countries in this economy, we should first have a system in place for American women before we start offering a safe haven to immigrants.

Do not misunderstand. I am about helping battered women, but let us help those where we have the greatest need, and the highest mortality rate, right here in the good old United States.

Meal Ticket was the Verdict-Not Justice!

California laws regarding Domestic Violence are considered strict as opposed to other states. They should be quite complex and carry with them serious conviction penalties. Perhaps the State Legislators should amend the law to include the words “crimes committed by celebrities including sports players” shall be prosecuted.

When you are charged with two felony counts as Chris Brown --(somehow the other one magically vanished in court) -- it is imperative you enter the courtroom prepared with someone like Mark Geragos, a strong defense attorney.
It should not matter that these so called strong domestic violence and stalking laws were passed into legislation because women, mothers and girlfriends found themselves in an emergency room or on a slab tagged at the county morgue.

Yes all the fans can jump up and down screaming victory for their kroner making a deal with the districts attorney’s office by pleading guilty to only one count of felony assault and provided with a free get out of jail card. But this is not a game of monopoly it is real life. I am certain if this happened to a relative or family member you would not be cheering and likely demanding justice. But we still as a society do not see this type of violence between intimate relationships as a potentially deadly crime. Blood, gushing out of Rihanna’s mouth as Brown continued to punch her while in route to the Grammy awards her head held down below the steering wheel as he told her “I am going to beat the shit out of you when we get home” implying this was not the first time Brown solved his manly issues with a young woman half his size and strength with violence.

Chris Brown in court yesterday, head bowed with hands folded like a choir boy as he pleaded guilty looking all manly in his designer threads before the judge.

It was obvious Defense attorney Mark Geragos relationships with the system that included the Judge and District Attorney in Los Angeles showing the world he knows how to aggressively pursue alternative sentencing, for his famous, yet cowardly client.

We witnessed firsthand, a verdict from an industry that sets itself apart from the realities of relationship dynamics. Chris Brown sings for a lot of folk’s suppers and that "meal ticket" was the verdict, not justice!

Husband Pretends Wife is Alive

Becky Brosnan , 32 and mother of two children was found beaten to death last week.

Sadly, her estranged husband took her life. The couple was going through a divorce.

I cannot stress enough, to anyone going through a divorce, the importance of safety. Women are being slaughtered by their husbands all on the name of power and control. Often they let their guard down by agreeing to meet their estranged husbands alone to "talk things out."

And in many situations the woman talks about divorce prior to securing a proper strategy. A strategy includes not only custody, assets, legal representation, but safety.

Before you mention the word divorce in your home, especially if your partner is controlling or abusive:
You must have a safety plan.
You must notify someone each time you walk out the door.
Send out an email alert telling folks where you are going and with whom.
Take your cell phone and have it programed to 911 when in the presence of this person.
If possible have an additional back-up cell phone that you keep charged in case of emergencies.
If the situation gets heated have the phone programed to 911 and just press the button.
Keep your keys in your pocket. If you have an automatic door lock on your key ring, sound the alarm button on the device.
Never meet the person with whom you are ending your relationship with alone.
For additional information and important tasks you will need to complete pick up a copy of "Moving Out Moving On" when a relationship goes wrong. Or order on line HERE.

After he killed her, Uriah Brosnan dumped her boby near his workplace. He covered up his crime by posting on line and texting friends and relatives prentending to Becky. In an attempt to cover up the crime and buy himself time.

He sent electronic messages from Becky Brosnan’s personal accounts, including e-mail and MySpace.com, after he killed her during a fight in his office at a roofing business.

One of the posts he wrote said “I need to find me. I can’t trust anyone right now. Getting away for some me time.”

The husband is in Spokane County Jail charged with first-degree murder. Brosnan’s bail is set at $1 million.

According the NewsTribune :”The Brosnans, married in 1997, were going through a divorce. Their children – a 10-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl – were a point of contention, family members and police say.“The more she fought for her children, the harder it was,” Becky Brosnan went to meet her husband to discuss the children on Jan. 28. Uriah Brosnan told police that he picked up a hammer and hit her in the head. When she continued to fight, he picked up a metal bar and hit her numerous times, Brosnan told police.“Before I knew it, she was dead,” he said.Uriah Brosnan then bound her hands and feet, wrapped her in black plastic secured with duct tape, and dragged her – “easily” – out of the building, according to the interview with police. He left the body behind a chain link fence among composite shingles and wood scraps, next to the business, police said. Brosnan then cleaned his office and threw away his bloody clothes, police said.

In the midst of the bloody event, Brosnan’s boss, Tom Wilson, stopped by the business and noticed a light on, police said. Brosnan refused to open his office door for his boss, claiming to be alone and doing paperwork. The next day, Jan. 29, when Becky Brosnan failed to show up for a family gathering, her stepmother called police to say the absence was extremely unusual.Meanwhile, Uriah Brosnan had hacked into his wife’s e-mail and MySpace page, and used her cell phone to send text messages, police said.Police tracked the IP address to determine who had made the post on her MySpace page and determined it came from Uriah Brosnan’s computer.

He accessed her MySpace page 38 times from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6, a forensic expert determined. On Feb. 2, a text was sent from Becky Brosnan’s cell phone to her stepmom saying, “I’m OK.”One text message was sent to Bascetta saying she was out of town and that her car was at her husband’s house. When Becky Brosnan had been missing for five days, the Spokane Major Crimes unit began investigating. Detectives interviewed Uriah Brosnan and his girlfriend, Crystle Sellers, on Thursday, and they grew suspicious when his “story” varied, said Spokane police Officer Jennifer DeRuwe.Brosnan was fired Friday, police said.Police searched Brosnan’s workplace Monday, where they found blood on an office chair and drag marks. A forensics team collecting evidence there early Tuesday discovered the body among the debris about 2:30 a.m., said Spokane police Sgt. Joe Peterson.Becky Brosnan’s boyfriend, Bascetta, said the family was worried about the struggles she was having with her divorce. “This happening was all in the back of our minds, but we never thought he was capable.”

Who Murdered Mary McGinnis?

Texas-Mary McGinnis Morris, a nurse, was murdered on October 15, 2000 and her body was found by a tow truck driver on October 16, 2000. Mary had been abducted, beaten and shot in the head. The scene of the crime was staged to look like a suicide, but evidence at the scene and the autopsy report showed that Mary had been gagged, restrained, and viciously beaten before being shot in the head. Mary had put up a fierce struggle for her life that left her clothes torn and bruise marks on her body. Blood was found on the passenger door, which was open and the keys were outside the car. Police do not suspect robbery in this crime.

Mary and her husband, Michael James Morris, were having marital problems and law enforcement cannot eliminate him as a suspect. Mary's life insurance policy was for $700,000 and he was the beneficiary. Another fact is that two hours after Mary's death, Mike Morris placed a call to Mary's cell phone that lasted for 4 minutes and the call did not go to Mary's voice mail. The call showed up on the cell phone bill as "completed". Mike Morris denies any involvement in his wife's death. Mary was also having difficulty with an ex-employee who also cannot be eliminated as a suspect.

I know someone out there has information or saw something that day. Please go to authorities and tell them what you know. Mary McGinnis deserves our help!

If you have any information about the unsolved homicide of Mary McGinnis, please call Crimestoppers (713)222-8477 or Sgt. Parker of the Harris County Sheriff's Department at (713)967-5810.

A $10,000 reward is being offered in the case. The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation, based in California, offered $5,000 on top of the original Crime Stoppers reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in Morris' murder.

"All But My Soul" Abuse Beyond Control

If you are a battered woman entangled in, or recovering from, divorce proceedings with an abuser, this book is a must read! Order it now at Amazon.com Or go to your local library. http://www.partners-in-prevention.org
http://www.preventabusiverelationships.com

It could save you-your life, your children, your job, savings and your home. ...And if you've experienced any of these losses, it WILL help you heal!

You wake up and find yourself reaching out for society’s aid to help you protect yourself and your children. And in many cases, they show up before you realize that you invited them.

Your emotions are mixed, your day-to-day reality clear and your future fuzzy. You want to believe your attorney is working for your "best interest," but this belief can't be supported by the proceedings, especially when his/her fees are funded by the marital estate which your controlling spouse controls.

The financial social politics are crystal clear, but you cling to the ideal of "social justice" and human decency, until you hear your counsel and the court throw a deaf ear to your child’s self-mutilating in the face of being forced to live with someone who abuses him (sometimes before and WITHOUT a custody trial).

And you may even find yourself desperately struggling to have contact with your children after they are denied access to you...for days, weeks, months and for some protective parents for years.

You recognize that life, as you once knew it, is vanishing ...your children, your home, your savings, your career and, for many domestic abuse survivors, your health.

Far too often, domestic abuse survivors go from the "frying pan" to the "fire" on their way out of an abusive relationship. And they wonder how this can happen. While it doesn’t always happen, it’s more common than most people realize.

If you are a living domestic abuse, either on the inside of the relationship or on your way out of it, being informed about systemic abuse is essential to your survival.

Victims of domestic abuse can avoid being mothers without custody by recognizing, and not falling prey to, systemic abuse before it spirals out of control.
