The Susan Murphy Milano Show: Today 2:00 PM Live Samantha Duran Update: Found Safe

T

Two fathers from Sevier County, Tennessee will be on the show for the hour to discuss the details of their missing teenage daughter's now found safe, Samantha Duran and Kelsey Barrett of Sevier County, TN.

Important UPDATE: Just shortly before both fathers appear on today's show Samantha Duran was found alive and safe. The show today will be about what families must do and the hope in not giving up!

Often missing teenagers are runaways, but there are many other circumstances that need to be considered with every missing teenager who is not old enough to make intelligent life decisions. Several questions need to be asked about the disappearances of these young girls, especially were they lured by older males into thinking life would be better somewhere other than home. Any teenage runaway is endangered, whether they chose to run away or whether they were lured or abducted and often the priority to search for them is quite low.
Several agencies are involved in her search, including Laura Recovery Center and Heidi Search Center, both headquartered in Texas. And Chuck Foreman with http://www.cfsi-international.com/ who successfully investigated to bring Kelsey home. Kelsey Barrett, age 13, went missing for the second time on April 1,2012. She as FOUND safe on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

Ignorance is the Leading Cause of Murder in Intimate Partner Violence

I receive quite a few private emails blasting me for writing the truth after a victim is found dead or murdered and the boyfriend or husband ends their lives in suicide.  People that write or leave comments appearing on the blog, often defending the actions of a killer, is out of pure ignorance of the nature of the crime.  Making excuses such as mental illness, they served in the military, grew up in an abusive household, post traumatic stress syndrome, to a drug and alcoholic problems, the list of excuses is endless.

The mindset of the general public seemingly looks everywhere around a tragedy, except the obvious.  If a man or a woman murders someone with whom they had or have a relationship, it is calculated and premeditated from a state of escalation.  But, to those who profess to know the killers of intimate partner homicide, the reactions to the crime are not realistic from my viewpoint.  Having a bad day, saying the individual was driven to do it, or there is so much chaos in that persons' life is often a justification for the criminal act by those who knew them.  When you make these types of remarks you are defending a cold blooded murderer, whether it be your friend or family member. I do not intend to demean your grief or loss, only to put the crime, and the criminal, in the proper perspective.

Calling out someone, such as myself, tearing them down personally for trying to keep victims and their families alive, is a crime in and of itself.  The pattern of conduct by my police officer father, likely from the moment I came into the world, is no different than those I write about each day.  My father's pattern of conduct was the predictor to her murder and his suicide.  Unless you live behind the walls of daily terror and the unknown, you haven't a clue what it's like to know if you will wake up the following morning.  Intimate partner homicide took away the lives of not only my parents, but my brother, kid sister and me.

Writing about those victims who did not reach out to someone such as myself in time, who did not know to read the information prescribed in the book Time's Up, or were unable to prepare the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit, is my way to shout to the world that the victims mattered, even in their untimely deaths. My hope is the world will stop closing it's eyes  when innocent children like Charlie and Braden Powell die, whose mother Susan Cox is still missing, and be forced to watch that no more children are blown up out of rage from this world into the next.

I have lost everything to the epidemic of intimate partner violence. Personally, I have nothing left to lose by calling out the bloody truth.

When you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. So, instead of chastising my writing, make it part of your life to prevent the next incident of homicide in your own backyard.

The Murder Trial of Amy Sue Henslee

On January 24, 2011, Amy Sue Hanslee, 30 and mother of 2 boys, vanished from her home in Hartford, Michigan.

Four days later with the assistance of searcher Jamie Jones with "The Missing You Foundation" a non-profit organization assisting families of missing persons, Amy Henslee and Tonya Howrath were found in a shallow grave on the property of a cousin of Amy's husband, Junior Lee Beebe, Jr. he was arrested and charged with both murders.

Tomorrow, the trial begins in Van Buren District County court with jury selection.

Earlier this evening, on the eve of the trial James Henslee finished the arrangements for the headstone that will be placed on his wife's grave sometime next week. Since the murder of his wife the focus for James is his children and how best to be a voice for Amy. It is not an easy road to travel without the love of your life.

James Henslee will be in court for the trial. He is also scheduled to testify. Emotions will no doubt run high as the national media will be there covering the case. But, I thought it might help James if he could also write his own words during the trial that he would share on a blog. Something for his boys to be able to read when they are old enough that was written by their father during the murder trial of their mother.

There was a lot publicized, mostly negative speculation, minus the facts, before, during and after regarding the women's murders from the media. In my opinion, it was inexcusable for the media and social networking sites to attack a homicide survivor and his family.

Providing a voice for Amy Henslee during the trial through her husband James seems a good way to honor this wife and mother. Each day James will provide an insight when possible during the trial. To go to the blog we created go to http://amyhensleemurder.blogspot.com/

Let's all keep the Henslee and Howrath family in our prayers.

Earlier today o his facbook page James Henslee writes this to Amy:

My dear love, Its been 189 days since my life has changed. Tomorrow we go back to day 1. I am your voice and your my strength! With the lords hands on my shoulder I will face the devil and put out his flames! Amy Sue you fought till the end and I will do the same for you! Love you always & forever my beautiful Wife

The Media: Giving Hero Status to Killers

The days of Walter Cronkite delivering the nightly news during the dinner hour is but a distant memory. As a matter of fact, so is the family dinner hour; both replaced by "George Jetson" like technology . The cartoon, once a Saturday morning favorite in the early 1960's, featured everything from automatic buttons for prepared foods to hand held communication devices at a time when technology was in its infancy.

Although Walter Cronkite died in 2009, the integrity in which he delivered world news was important. For many Americans across the county during his television rein, he was the voice of integrity and trust. The world watched as he informed the country, removing his glasses, on live television as he tried to maintain his composure shortly after President John F. Kennedy was killed. In covering crimes like serial killer Richard Speck who killed 8 nurses in 1966, Cronkite delivered the tragic lives of Gloria Davy, Patricia Matusek, Nina Schmale, Pamela Wilkening, Suzanne Farris, Mary Ann Jordan, Merlita Gargullo, and Valentina Pasion with respect and human compassion. The victims of Specks crimes received attention, because they were important; the killer took a back seat in the news reporting of the murders. It was a time when the country cared about their neighbors. It was a time when you actually knew your neighbor and everyone who lived in your community.

With technology, our country, in my opinion, has lost everything we once held sacred. The newspapers have been replaced by the Internet and various social media sites. Criminals are now given hero like status on the major news networks. Victims who have fallen prey to killers are lost someplace in the headlines of 5 second sound bites. Talking heads have replaced serious journalists and reporters. And family members looking for loved ones or seeking justice believe that a mention or an on camera interview via Skype or in a studio from another location will get them closer to justice.

We have allowed what news we receive to be spoon feed to us without any regard for accountability. The days of Walter Cronkite have been replaced by scripted sound bites.

Don't get me wrong, a segment or a mention on CNN, HLN, the morning shows, The Huffington Post and others is great, but we need to also be more accountable in allowing that brand of reporting not to dictate outcomes and make criminals into celebrities.

How in the world do we go from watching a mother stand trial for murder of an innocent child to debating how much they will receive for exclusive book deals and appearances? In my opinion, the media opens the door for those types of opportunities and we fuel them when we watch the same rodeo circus on television, click a page on an Internet site or leave a comment of outrage.

On my radio show "Time's Up" we spoke with network television reporter and producer Steph Watts. He discussed what goes on behind the camera and how cases receive news coverage. Watts also offers sound advice for families of missing persons to receive attention in their cases.

The world of ever changing media and technology can be a vital tool in every aspect of our lives. But with that comes responsibility to us as consumers, our families, neighbors and community.

Jacque Waller and The Crime Within A Crime "Missing Mothers and Suspicious Deaths"

I watch the various news sites and social networks with hope that American's will "get the fact" when a mother vanishes, she didn't take off on her own. That when a mother "suddenly" goes missing or is discovered in a bathtub minus water, it was at the hands of the person with whom she was ending the relationship.

The crime that happens while still alive is in different stages for victims of intimate partner violence that leads to homicide. First, society is not all that supportive of women who stay in violent relationships. The questions always comes up" Why do you stay?" When society should really be asking why is that individual allowed to get away with acts that are criminal? They would not be able to beat a stranger. Or grab them by the hair and wipe the floor with them. Yet a person who is abusive seemingly gets away with the violence. The victim is fearful of calling the police or making a report. They feel that they can either "handle the abuse" or greater harm will come to they or their children merely by placing a phone call to law enforcement. There is no real consequences for someone who goes around terrorizing members of their family behind closed doors. The likely hood of getting arrested for drunk driving carries more weight within the criminal justice system and society. You see it is against the law to drink and drive. But it's not against the law to make someone vanish and tell the world she left on her own. Especially when you were the last person known to see them alive.

So the victim lives with the crimes committed against them, in silence, until she gains the strength and courage to leave. This is not easy for victims to accomplish as evidenced by case after case of missing mothers who are "suddenly" reported missing by family members other than their husbands. These mom's do everything in their power to give the abuser what he wants in exchange for their freedom. The abuser could care less they only want the person to pay for leaving. That can mean death.

Earlier today, on The Roth Show, with Dr. Laurie Roth, Ph.D, Monica Caison, founder of the CUE Center for Missing Persons, along with the parents of missing mother Jacque Waller; Ruby and Stan Rawson, discussed during a commercial break what may have happened in the last moments of their daughters life. Keep in mind that Jacque stood all of 5 2" inches tall and her estranged husband Clay Waller well over 6' foot in height. Clay Waller lies to his estranged wife telling her to come to the house and pick up their son. He is never in the home, but across state lines with a girlfriend in Illinois. How many seconds does Jacque have once she enters the front door before she is taken down by Waller?

Listen to The Roth Show here:

From personal experience an angry abusive partner wants to see and watch the last breathe leave the person with whom they have lost control. I would learn just how sick and twisted someone like this is when my own father audio tapped the entire murder of my own mother back in 1989, before he turned the gun on himself. Some abusers take their own lives while other play the game of "catch me if you can." In my opinion, that is exactly what Clay Waller has done.

A massive search is planned this weekend for Jacque Waller in Missouri. The Cue Center for missing person's is returning for a third week to find her, but they need the public's assistance. Teams of trained and certified cadaver dogs, horses and searchers will be combing various areas and they need the public's help with food, water and donations. If you would like to help please visit their website at www.ncmissingpersons.org.

If you have any information that could aide in finding Jacque Waller please call the confidential tip line at 910-232-1687. Or Law Enforcement with information or tips at 573-243-3151.

Gail Nowacki Palmgren: Follow the Money Trail

The case of Gail Nowacki Palmgren, 44, and the mother of two children who went missing from Signal Mountain, TN on April 30, 2011, is still without answers as to her possible location. Her case continues to be categorized by law enforcement as a “missing person’s case.” This is disturbing to me when you factor the events or “pattern of conduct” prior to April 30, 2011.

First and foremost, it is important to note, Gail Palmgren is not here to defend herself. When her husband painted a picture of a wife and the mother of his children as having serious mental health issues and taking prescription drugs, he was using the same offender playbook as Drew Peterson did when Stacy Peterson vanished on October 28, 2007. This speaks volumes to the actions and statements of a boyfriend, spouse, or former lover in all intimate partner violence and potential homicide cases.

The husband, Matt Palmgren, worked for Blue/Cross Blue/Shield as the director of pharmacy programs. He was having an affair with a woman who also was employed at the company as a director of governmental product development by the name of Tammy Helton.

Blue/Cross Blue/Shield has since terminated both Helton and Palmgren. I found it odd that the girlfriend has consulted with a criminal lawyer. I can’t recall anyone, so early in a case doing this before, just because they were having an affair. In my opinion, it sends up a red flag. Hopefully the powers that be within the company have taken their computers and are holding them waiting until police come with a search warrant to retrieve conversations and perhaps information that could be important in the disappearance of Gail Nowacki Palmgren. This also should apply to cell phones and any other electronic equipment that was turned in to the company after termination. Expenses, receipts for gas, car or truck rental, and possible toll booths they could have used from the beginning of March thru May 3rd need to be captured. If they had company cars was there a GPS system on the car?

The police department in Signal Mountain, TN, should consider bringing in a more experienced team within the State to help them with this case. Time and potential evidence are all but vanishing. In cases of “intimate partner missing” you have to set aside professional egos. If Gail was in continuous contact with detectives by cell phone as she returned from the cabin in Alabama, why didn’t they meet her at the house? Why did detectives believe it was important to provide Gail with numbers to a shelter if they did not feel she was in danger? Gail allegedly reported to detectives from her cell phone on the road with the kids still in the car that she was scared and being followed.

When she dropped off the kids at home the husband was suppose to be there waiting for them. That did not happen. So she allegedly makes the appropriate call and leaves the home knowing an adult will be with them within a few minutes. But, with whom does she leave when she returns to her jeep? Is the person in the back seat of the jeep? Is it possible that someone is in the home waiting at the time she drops off the kids? Is she threatened?

When the neighbor tries to see how Gail is doing, she speeds off quickly. Was someone in the vehicle with her?

Detectives knew she was in fear, why didn’t they do a wellness check on her, or ask that she meet with them at the station or another location? Clearly someone dropped the ball.

The fact that the private investigator hired by Palmgren is a former law enforcement officer from Signal Mountain adds up to, in my opinion, smoke and mirrors for this case.

This is about money. If you follow the money and property at stake, the affair, in my expert opinion, you have motive.

So far the only ones acting responsibility have been Blue/Cross and Blue/Shield. Perhaps they would consider offering a reward for, what I feel is an individual and family member, if you will, of a company that insures millions of lives across America. To offer a reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible is important.

Law Enforcement needs to obtain a court order and go through 60 days prior from the date Gail vanished of cells phone records, including work and the kid’s phones. This also should include anything that could have been accessed during while they were employed at BlueCross and Blue Shield. Go to the post office and check the change of address done on April 30, 2011. Interview the private investigator hired by Gail.

A high powered executive’s wife from a fortune 500 company has vanished. Time’s Up!

Description of Gail’s Jeep

Gail drove a four-door maroon 2010 Rubicon Jeep Wrangler with a black soft top. The wheel cover on the back has the words “Life is Good” and a daisy painted on it. The trailer hitch has a picture of the Disney character Goofy on it, and the Jeep has Alabama tags that read “EAZY ST”.

Gail is 5’8” and weighs 135 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information about Gail’s disappearance or her whereabouts you are asked to call the Signal Mountain Police Department at 423-886-2123.

A Facebook page, "Bring Gail Home Now" has been created as a support for family and for news updates.

The Murder of Joseph DiMare

Over five decades, the murder of wealthy produce merchant Joseph DiMare — shot in the head in his white Cadillac in North Miami on March 24th 1961 — has faded into obscurity amid South Florida’s rich crime lore.

But one man won’t let it go. To Richard DiMare, the victim’s 69-year-old son, the murder probe is a cause championed only by him. For the better part of the past three decades, he has flooded police, prosecutors and politicians with angry letters demanding justice.

Our guest, Richard DiMare will highlight this 50 year fight for justice for his father.

Passage of The Chanda Turner Bill in Oklahoma

Little did Donna and Joe Turner realize that justice for the death of their daughter would be such a long road. Chanda Turner was shot in her home on July 12, 2000 and her death was originally ruled a suicide. Despite repeated requests, the family was denied an autopsy for almost 10 years. Knowing they would never give up fighting to get justice for their daughter, her parents buried her in a sealed casket inside a sealed crypt to preserve her body for the day when they could finally get an autopsy.

Since that time the Turners have been fighting, along with several other families, for reform of a Medical Examiner's Office in which appeals for change were not granted. Attorney Jaye Mendros of Oklahoma City was retained to help these families make changes necessary to give them the opportunity to have a legal mechanism to correct all the mistakes in their cases. The Chanda Turner Bill has gone through all the necessary judicial steps, now they await the final step. The will update the team on their journey for justice!

Brittanee Drexel: To Her "Friends" in Rochester, New York

Brittanee Marie Drexel

Brittanee Drexel, 17, vanished on April 25, 2009, around 8:00 PM. This weekend marks the 2 year anniversary of when she was last seen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Today, trained search teams from the Cue Center for Missing Persons in Wilmington, N.C., returned to Myrtle Beach, combing new areas in hopes of finding of Brittanee Drexel.

This also marks the start of a series of articles and media on this case. Beginning with Dawn Drexel, her mother, who was in studio and on the show "Time's Up" during the second hour, from 3-4 pm today. To listen to the re-broadcast here is the link: http://herewomentalkradio.com/home/archives_details/710

This first article is directed to the teenagers who accompanied 17-year old Brittanee from Rochester, NY to Myrtle Beach that weekend two years ago. In my opinion, each one of you are responsible and have important information that can solve this case. I strongly suggest that you and or your family listen to the entire second hour of the show.

It is a fact that the teen girls and young men who traveled with her abruptly left Myrtle Beach approximately 5 hours from the time Brittanee went missing and headed back to Rochester, New York, minus one very important underage age passenger.

It is a fact that whether you participated directly in any act of violence as it relates to Brittanee Drexel, you each can be charged with obstruction of justice for simply remaining silent and not coming forward. Translation: prison time.

Fact: you have each remained silent because you have possibly been threatened. All it takes is for one of you to break and all of you will be facing prison time.

You do not need to publicly come forward with the information. No one will ever know who placed a call. All one of you needs to do is contact the tip line at the cue center 910-232-1637, your call is confidential and anonymous.

Again, I urge you to listen to today's radio show for those in the "know" there is a special message for you.

All anyone is asking is for this young woman to be located so her family can finally bring her home.

Tiffany Hartley: "The Devil is in the Details!"

On the Afternoon of September 30, 2010, the national media covered the story of David Hartley on Falcon Lake while he and his wife Tiffany were jet skiing, it was reported David was shot and killed.

A time line before and after a crime is important for any investigation.  In the tragedy of David Hartley there is not much of a time line from when the couple was pulled over for expired registration on their jets skis to the time when Tiffany appears on land to place a call for help in Texas to 911.  Starting with Tiffany Hartley's Facebook page  as it shows activites prior to the 911 call.
____________________
Time Line According to Tiffany's facebook page

Tiffany Young-Hartley Entry June 20, 2010 at 10:36 PM-- Had a busy weekend, were moving out of Mexico and heading across the border to McAllen, TX. Not completely moved but were a lot closer. Got to enjoy the Jet Skies this morning then Davids skie broke, so our trip was cut short:( came home to move more stuff. Sure will be nice when were done moving and hopefully it will be for more than 7 months. June 20 at 10:36pm ·

(We know that on or about June 20th the couple moved across the border to Texas.)

Entry on June 28, 2010 at 10:31 pm Getting ready for Hurrican Alex!! This is a little weird, praying that we won't lose power and that we don't get water in the house, expecially since we just bought new furniture.

Entry on June 29, 2010 at 2:31 pm Why is it when you have service companies like AT&T coming to the house to hook up internet and phone, they tell you that they will be there sometime between 8 and 5. What... can't they give you a more specific time. Do they think I have all day to wait for them!

Entry on August 22, 2010 at 2:18 PM Who says church is boring, What a great message, our pastor had us all laughing most of the service. Praise God for pastors who aren't afraid of speaking it as it is and who doesn't mind putting his pride aside to make people laugh even if it's about himself.

Entry on September 11, 2010 at 6:07 PM Thank you to all of you who have and are serving this great nation of ours. Today is a day of remembering and not forgetting. I love this country and am proud to be an AMERICAN. So lets all go back to 9 years ago today and remember where we were and how we felt. Lets all come together once again and be united the w...ay we were 9 years ago on 9/11. God Bless the USA.

Last Entry 4 days before David Hartley goes missing- Entry September 26, 2010 at 6:49 PM --Had a great vacation in Key West, FL. Thanks to my husband who works so hard so we can get away from life for awhile. Great pick Babe!!!! Saw a couple sharks while diving, got to pet a Manatee by the Harbor walk. Just a few of the highlights of our trip. (she includes pictures)

September 26th was a Sunday.  As we see by the final entry she is thanking her husband, publicily and, in my opinion, it seems rather out of place given there are no other such entries to be found, and because it is so close to his missing, she goes an extra mile to let us know how hard her husband works.

I am listing the details of her Facebook page to also show a "pattern of conduct" prior to calling 911.

September 30th at approximately 11:30 am The Texas Department of Public Safety released video footage of David and Tiffany Hartley. It was taken just hours before the murder on Falcon Lake. It shows DPS troopers pulling over the Hartley’s at 11:30 a.m. in Rio Grande City. That’s about three hours before Tiffany claims Mexican pirates killed her husband on Falcon Lake. Troopers pulled them over for an expired registration sticker on their trailer, but after 10 minutes ket the couple go. And DPS troopers actually pulled over David and Tiffany Hartley on their way to Falcon Lake.

The two jet skis in the police video can be seen on a trailer.  From the dashcam both jet skis are visable. The missing jet ski that Tiffany claims was the one David was riding because she said it was faster, registration number is  TX3671AX ( but that is the one she has now in her posession and that is not possible if David was riding it at the time he was shot), jet ski purchased, on June 1 of 2009 .. Her jet ski is the one that is missing.  Missing ski, registration number is TX8430KA. It was purchased on June 10, 2008 .

In a photo, after Tiffany returns without David, the jet ski on the drivers side that was hers is missing and the one David was on is in the photo in a newsclip on the passengers side and that was his jet ski.

How is it possible that Tiffany Hartley has a jet ski she claims is missing and also belonged to David?  She now has the more powerful and faster jet ski.  Tiffany returns without David and the media and the Sheriff continue to give, in my opinion, this woman a pass.

The devil, as they say, is in the details of this case. In my opinion, Tiffany Hartley played a role overtly or otherwise in the disappearnce of David Hartley.  She is not legally a widow.  She is no different than other cases of foul play where bodies suddenly vanish without explaination or killed,  women and men whose husbands or wives were the last persons to have seen them alive; Stacy Peterson, Lisa Stebic, Theresa Parker, Renee Pernice, Vensus Stewart, Lort Hacking, Laci Peterson, Christine Rudy, Cheryl Keeton, elissa Mendoza, Janet March, Michael Tapley, Matthew Houbrick, Charlie Bateson, James Nibble and Matthew Winkler, is a small sample of those who take till death do us part literally.

There is still no reward being offered for any information that leads to the recovey or arrest of those responsible for the disappearance of David Hartley.  On the http://www.bringdavidhome.com/ site created by the not-a-legal-widow Tiffany, all you read is ranting about border patrol, drug cartel and issues that do not pertain to justice for David Hartley.  When I see this garbage posted on a website created for a missing person, personally, it is a slap in the face for all of victims of crime.  There is not even a tag word on the side in yellow font listing David Hartley's name. And the site is asking for donations, minus a reward for David Hartley

A Facebook page has been created by those wanting justice for a man who has been silenced - in memory of David Hartley - please join the page and consider asking others to join.  http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bring-David-Hartley-Justice/114682475266018

Peter Hyatt, myself, and others will continue investigating, reviewing statements to uncover the truth about what did not happen per the so called account of one Tiffany Hartley in Falcon Lake on September 30, 2010.
