Brittanee Marie Drexel: A Prayer for Answers: Holding Onto Hope for Their Missing Daughter

The worst nightmare for any missing person's family is waking up each new day without answers.  For three solid years the family of Brittanee Drexel, 17 have prayed to God their beautiful doe eyed ray of sunshine would be found.

On April 25, 2009, Dawn Drexel, her mother received news her daughter was missing. Immediately from her home in Rochester, NY she drove to Myrtle Beach, SC.,looking for her daughter.

Brittanee had gone without her parents permission or knowledge with a group of older kids to Myrtle Beach for Spring Break.  Like most teenagers her age she'd thought her parents would never find out.

The kids secured rooms together at various hotels on the strip.  Approximately four kids to each room.  Brittanee was with her group at the Bar Harbor Hotel on Ocean Blvd., when she vanished.  She was captured and recorded on the Bluewater Resort video camera around 8:15 PM, and it was assumed she was returning back to her hotel the Bar Harbor.  But, she never made it back.  And all the kids that talked her into taking the trip and watched out for her by making sure Brittanee had money for food and always knowing where she was, suddenly threw another dagger at a distraught mother, the kids refused to take Dawn's calls when all she wanted information about her daughter.  Instead, the kids packed up and headed back to Rochester, NY, refusing to provide any information or cooperate with law enforcement.

This Saturday, the Drexel family returns to Myrtle Beach to plant and dedicate a tree in her memory.  Hopefully, they won't have to wait out another year of keeping their cells phones charged around the clock for when the call finally comes in to say Brittanee has been found.  You can bring her home.  This has been their prayer since April 25, 2009.  And the CUE Center for Missing person's have worked from the beginning enlisting their trained and certified search teams, working directly with law enforcement on numerous large scale searches to bring Brittanee home.  The Cue Center a national not-for-profit organization, is the light of hope for so many missing persons families across the county.  The Cue Center will also be in attendance at the tree dedication this weekend.

Shining the Light Brightly for Missing Loved Ones and Their Family

In Rochester, New York  hundreds over the weekend attended the vigil for Larie Butler, 17, found  murdered in a swimming pool.  Her life was stolen by a someone she trusted, a family friend.  When Larie was reported missing on March 24, 2012, the CUE Center for Missing Person's sent in their top volunteers to assist the family shortly thereafter.

Dawn Drexel, recently named New York State Outreach Coordinator for the CUE Center for Missing Persons, brought forth the efforts and support for the family.  One wonders how a mother gains the strength to help other families as she still waits for word everyday on her own child, still missing, Brittanee Drexel, 17, who suddenly vanished in Myrtle Beach during spring break on April 25, 2009. This years marks the third anniversary of her disappearance and the family will return to Myrtle Beach for a tree planting ceremony in Brittanee's memory.

Not every family has the opportunity to bring their loved one home.  It can take days, months and often years until remains are recovered.  One agency has been the guardian, or the "keeper of the flame" for families of missing persons, since 1994.  The CUE Center is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to burning both daytime and midnight lights brightly until a loved one is found.

The agency provides support and hope for families at a time when answers just are not available.  They are an amazing group whose expertise includes, current and former law enforcement, many volunteers who are parents and friends of missing loved ones, and teams who are trained and certified in search, rescue and recovery.

What is Missing in Brittanee Drexel's case: The Truth

All a missing person's family asks is for answers when their loved one goes missing. Some missing cases, come with no answers at all. Perhaps it was a random abduction or criminal act. Or law enforcement simply has no suspect or clues. The family continues to search and maintain contact with law enforcement while continuing to keep the case in the public eye.

But what happens when there are answers in a case and those involved or know what happened and flat out refuse to cooperate?

One case in particular comes to mind, Brittanee Marie Drexel. She was 17 years of age, traveling with kids older then she from Rochester, NY to Myrtle Beach, SC, over spring break. On April 25, 2009, she went missing. Those who arrived with her to Myrtle Beach, made sure she had enough money for food, took the underage teen to clubs and basically watched over her.

Yet, they pack up leaving Myrtle Beach, without her? It simply does not compute. Unless of course out of fear, they are not coming forward. But still, who would put a family through such hell? I also wonder about the parents of those kids. Wouldn't you question your daughter or son who went on a trip with a person who did not return? Or is it better to live under a rock with the truth hoping nothing will ever come of it?

In this case, the kids in my opinion, hold the answers for Brittanee's family. They refuse to talk. They refuse to assist police. They refuse to look her mother in the eye. They refuse to act like adults and tell the truth.

And they refuse to give Brittanee Marie Drexel's family the peace they so rightfully deserve!

Brittanee Drexel: "Trusting and Faithful Friends"

These are photo's of missing teen Brittane Drexel sometime before she vanished from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on April 25, 2009. None of these kids in the photo's went to Myrtle Beach. And when Brittanee went missing they helped with flyers and searches unlike the kids that actually left her behind in South Carolina.

Unlike the kids who went with Brittanee and continue to claim they "did not know" Brittanee and yet the photo's from last week on the blog prove otherwise. They all go to Myrtle Beach for spring break with the underage teen. And they bolt out of town like lightening when her mother after receiving a call makes the 14 hour trip from Rochester, NY to search for her daughter.

Peter Hyatt an expert in Statement Analysis and Investigator talks about the importance of words used by those who likely commit or have knowledge of serious crimes. Their words are the window to the truth. And, in my opinion, it applies here in this case. When it is learned that Brittanee Drexel is no longer communicating via text on 4/25 to her then boyfriend who by the way is in Rochester, New York a call is placed to her mother Dawn Drexel.

It is when Dawn Drexel learns for the first time her daughter is not where she believed Brittanee was and the caller who is in Rochester tells her mom "Brittanee is missing." He didn't say we can't find her, no one knows where she is, he makes a statement of fact "Brittanee is missing." How does he know to say that, if he is not in Myrtle Beach? It is because after Brittanee doesn't text back he calls one of the girls (pictured above) and learns something has happened. He then repeats what he has been told by the girls to her mother. Bingo! How do they or anyone know at that point-- anything about Brittanne? It is not possible to say a person is "missing" unless, wait a minute, they have direct and absolute knowledge.

All criminal acts involve a "pattern of conduct," something I teach law enforcement and prosecutors when investigating or preparing a case. The circumstances, behavior, actions, reactions, motivating factors, before during and after an alleged crime are crucial for a successful conviction.

Now, I am certain that as "those in the know" read this or last weeks post on the case have recently been told:

"it's not going anywhere trust us"

"hey who has your back"

"not to worry it will blow over"

"too much time has passed they will never find her"

"as long as no one talks it will be okay"

"you better not talk, you know what will happen when you do"

That is not true. And trusting someone else's attorney who has THEIR interest and not yours is a mistake. And as I indicated last week, if you were among those with Brittanee you have knowledge. For the kids who were there, are you willing to trust others to be quiet? Isn't it better to call in a tip that cannot not be traced back to you or anyone who places a call with the truth to resolve this case?

Brittanee Drexel, 17, vanished on April 25, 2009, around 8:00 PM. This week marks the 2 year anniversary of when she was last seen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Last week, trained search teams from the Cue Center for Missing Persons in Wilmington, N.C., returned to Myrtle Beach, combing new areas in hopes of finding of Brittanee Drexel.

A special plea or message was made on the show directly to those whom were with Brittanee Drexel -- at the very least, call in a tip to law enforcement and or the CUE center providing information on what happened and where she can be found. Today, was the deadline. Again, I realize and understand that each and every person involved with knowledge has been "scared into silence." Those who were informed they "will be killed" if they talk- still have an opportunity to give the information anonymously. Remember computer and communication technology including cell phones and blackberry's is also important in unsolved and missing persons cases. Forensic data can now be extracted and is being used in criminal cases (even those dating back a couple of years).

Below are photo's of those who "claim not to know" Brittanee all taken on 3/27/2009 the month before the underage teenager vanished.

The teenagers that brought the underage minor with them during spring break had claimed they "really don't" or "did not" know Brittanee Drexel prior to the trip. That is not true. They did know her. In fact on March 27, 2009, they were with her at the house. Her parents house for a party she hosted and they all attended.

This first article is directed to the teenagers who accompanied 17-year old Brittanee from Rochester, NY to Myrtle Beach that weekend two years ago. In my opinion, each one of you are responsible and have important information that can solve this case. I strongly suggest that you and or your family listen to the entire second hour of the show.

It is a fact that the teen girls and young men who traveled with her abruptly left Myrtle Beach approximately 5 hours from the time Brittanee went missing and headed back to Rochester, New York, minus one very important underage age passenger.

It is a fact that whether you participated directly in any act of violence as it relates to Brittanee Drexel, you each can be charged with obstruction of justice for simply remaining silent and not coming forward. Translation: prison time.

Fact: you have each remained silent because you have possibly been threatened. All it takes is for one of you to break and all of you will be facing prison time.

You do not need to publicly come forward with the information. No one will ever know who placed a call. All one of you needs to do is contact the tip line at the cue center 910-232-1637, your call is confidential and anonymous.
