Beth Bentley: Fact She is Missing!

Beth Bentley, 41 went missing on May 23rd 2010. In my opinion, after viewing various documents and interviews this is a case of intimate partner homicide. Someone who knew Beth Bentley, in my opinion is responsible for her disappearance.

Earlier today Monica Caison, founder of the Cue Center for missing persons appeared on my show "Time's Up" along with Beth Bentley’s brother Ron Michelson to briefly discuss the case.

For months rumors have been circling since she vanished.

Fact: Beth Bentley is missing. She did not just pick up and leave to begin a new life. As in each of these cases a mother would never leave her children. And at the time of her vanishing she was allegedly pregnant.

Fact: When Beth Bentley did not return home, it was her son from a previous marriage contacted the police. Earlier reports indicated otherwise, but those reports are false. Each time her son called to follow-up he was allegedly dismissed by law enforcement and told “they were waiting for tips to come in.” When the son made posters and was going to hang them around the area and at the train station, again law enforcement allegedly said “don’t bother hanging posters it’s a waste of time.”

Fact: There has been no cell phone usage since May 23, 2010 or credit card activity.

Fact: A few months after Beth Bentley went missing, a “love interest” moved into the marital home with her children.

There is more twist and turns in this case then a tornado. In the weeks and months ahead they will be revealed.

Another disturbing fact is that on September 10, 2010, a special grand jury indicted McHenry County State's Attorney Louis Bianchi on conspiracy and official misconduct charges that accuse him of using county employees and equipment for political purposes. So that translates into the State’s Attorney’s office being turned upside down.

Given the players and the circumstances surrounding this case it may take a special prosecutor to move this case in a new direction.

Fact: The devil is in the details.

On the January 19, 2011, the Police from Woodstock said “their active investigation is over.”

This case is not over by a long shot. In my opinion, it has just begun.

On December 2, 2010, the CUE Center launched the "Miles For Beth Bentley" campaign. Please, if you are from the area help the Cue Center by posting this information in the community and on blogs, websites, churches and the community.

The link posters and other information is HERE.

And finally, Fact: Beth Bentley is missing and she deserves to be found!

There is a $5,000 reward being offered in this case. To report a confidential tip the number to call is 910-232-1687 (24 hour tip-line)

Miles for Beth Bentley Campaign

How is works…
You register at the site for “Miles for Beth Bentley” and navigate to the county you live in or are familiar with, search for any road way and adopt it. Once you adopt the road or street, you must register that information on the site. This effort will aid the search for Beth as it is imperative to locate information on her travels and or whereabouts. Each ADPOTED” road or street that is delivered posters door to door, will allow us to obtain knowledge on Beth and where might have been in her travels. This campaign is open to anyone who would like to help in this case.

Purpose:
The concept for this campaign is to garner the attention of the general public and media outlets in an effort to aid in awareness of a missing mother, Beth Bentley; and to help identify areas of interest to conduct future search efforts.

Objective:
To challenge citizens of the state of Illinois to participate in locating Beth Bentley who remains missing. We hope to eliminate roads, streets and highways in search of any clue or tip she may have left behind. Our ultimate goal to locate missing, Beth Bentley and afford her family a resolution.

Link to Mapquest to the routes that Beth may have traveled. In and around the area of the blue line is the possible directions of travel.

Crime Wire Investigates: Who Killed My Daughter?

Murder

Kaitlyn Arquette, 18, was murdered in Albuquerque on July 16, 1989. Albuquerque police dubbed the shooting a “random drive-by” and refused to investigate any other possibility. The case has never been solved.

Kait’s family believes she was killed because she was a potential Whistle Blower. In the months directly preceding her murder, Kait was in a position to have gained information about a number of illegal activities involving dangerous and corrupt individuals. Among those activities were the following:

  • Asian Crime in New Mexico and California
  • Drug Smuggling
  • Drug Activities Involving New Mexico VIPs
  • Police Corruption

At 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 1989, 18-year-old Kaitlyn Arquette, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who had recently graduated from high school and gotten her own apartment, stopped by her parents’ home en route to visit a new girlfriend, Sharon Smith. Kait told her parents that Sharon had invited her for dinner and had given her written directions to her house in Old Town. Kait also said that she was breaking up with her live-in Vietnamese boyfriend, Dung Ngoc Nguyen, and if he called trying to find her, not to say where she was.

Kait kept her dinner date with Sharon and left her friend’s home at 10:45 p.m. The Albuquerque police think that while driving east on Lomas Blvd. in the direction of her parents’ house, she was shot twice in the head. Her car jumped the median and came to rest against a pole at the intersection of Lomas and Arno Streets. Kait survived 20 hours in a coma and died the next evening. The police ruled that Kait was the victim of a random drive-by shooting. No one was charged and the case went cold.

However, Kait’s parents, Lois and Don Arquette, didn’t agree with the police theory of how their daughter died and launched their own investigation. The results of their ongoing inquiry are disturbing to say the least, with indications of police incompetence or possible corruption.

Tonight Kait’s case will be profiled for the full hour. Guests will include Lois Duncan Arquette, Crime Wire Consultant and Arquette family investigator Pat Caristo, and Crime Wire Consultant and statement analyst Peter Hyatt.

You can catch the show at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/crimewirebeginning at 9 p.m. Eastern.

Together we can make a difference.

“Questioning the questionnaire?”

It seems the University of Oklahoma has come with a screening tool to aid law enforcement and first responders when assisting victims of intimate partner violence. It is a step in the right direction when you take the initial call, but in my opinion, a roll of toilet paper has more value.

The screening tool has 11 questions -- designed to recognize potentially lethal situations and take action? News flash! This will do nothing but kick the safety of an individual to the curb!

According to the news article from a press conference: The tool is a screening questionnaire designed for use at domestic violence calls to help police officers, advocates and health care providers assist victims at risk of even further violence. Whenever possible, responders immediately meet the victim and take him or her to a safe place where they ask the questions. The process takes about 60 seconds and works as sort of a triage tool in domestic violence cases.“This assessment will help first responders recognize a potentially lethal situation and take action,” said Janet Wilson with the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing

After reading the article it made my blood boil. I said to myself “they do not get it.” All I continue to see is more of the same dollars directed at research instead of a prescription that saves lives. A prescription, if you will, that I brought to Oklahoma in the fall of 2010. I was there to assist attorney Jaye Mendros representing the families from the www.justiceforthedead.com site. I was invited by family members to examine the cases of the Garvin County Three (each unsolved intimate partner homicides)  that also resulted in unseating a Sheriff during the November election. My trip to Oklahoma was, first and foremost, about domestic violence and a prescription for victims during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Taking action does not include gathering information to see if the number of injuries will be reduced because a first responder circled or checked a box on a questionnaire developed in a study. Studies are little more than data gathered and collected and then entered into a hard wired computer. I have nothing against those who have worked to create this tool. My question for the “researchers” is what do you really know about intimate partner violence harm reduction and response? Have you ever been in the field during a call for assistance? Have you ever been on a crime scene before, during or after a tragedy? Have you ever spoken to a woman directly over the phone and directed her to safety? Do you have an understanding of the inner workings of an abusive and toxic individual? Do you understand the criminal element and Internet as it relates to a potentially violent offender? Has your method worked to keep victims alive?
I am going to take a guess, likely no different than the complied questions and answer, no!

In the majority of murders we are reading about in the news, the danger continues despite the victim’s attempts to get help from traditional sources, or when she informs the abuser she is leaving the relationship or marriage and filing for divorce, it is costing women the lives of women (and men) who do not “qualify” for traditional services their lives. Whatever steps a person takes to leave it often fails because the victim is ill equipped, facing numerous obstacles that require far more then a 11 page questionnaire if she is to get out with her life.

The Answer and the Prescription is the book "Time's Up A Guide on How to Leave and Survive Abusive and Stalking Relationships. Included in the book is also the "EAA" as described below:

Order From Amazon
The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and Will: A Victim’s Voice
Domestic violence or intimate partner victims now are able to provide information, in their own words, about the fears, dangers, experiences they have had at the hands of their abuser. With the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and Will, victims stories, histories, and experiences are preserved and stored on their behalf. These videos will provide answers to the many questions, allegations, and fears that arise when a person has disappeared, gone missing, or been found dead. Recent cases, such as missing mother Susan Powell of Utah and women like Stacey Peterson where the victim’s police officer husband is the person of interest is the classic example of the benefits of this type of evidence. If Stacey Peterson or any woman found murdered or is missing had done an Evidentiary Will, These women ON TAPE, from following the information in the “Time’s Up Guide book on a flash drive would be able to describe:

- threats made against her life or wellbeing, including details of how the perpetrator would carry out the threat
- incidents of past abuse that the victim has endured
- admissions or comments made to her about other victims or people abused
- where evidence or weapons would or could be located
- possible alibis that the perpetrator would make up in his defense (including identification of people who could be co-defendant’s or co-suspects)
- portray visible injuries or marks

Researched and Developed
Example: After the disappearance of Stacy Peterson missing mother and wife of former Bolingbrook Sergeant Drew Peterson in Bolingbrook, IL, and others who had gone missing or be killed by a boyfriend or spouse, these cases now required an effective legal strategy that would allow their voice to be heard. Example of recent case Synopsis: “Dwayne Giles, who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in Los Angeles, asked the Supreme Court on in June of 2010 to overturn his murder conviction because he was denied the right to "confront" her in court. (Crawford vs. Washington)"He never had a chance to cross-examine" the victim, said Marilyn G. Burkardt, a Los Angeles lawyer representing Giles. Burkardt called the prosecution's use of his ex's reports of his threats "highly prejudicial." Though it sounds far-fetched, Giles' claim could have prevailed in the high court .

The Supreme Court took up of the case of Giles vs. California to test the outer limits of the so-called confrontation right in the 6th Amendment ( a.k.a. Crawford vs Washington). It says, "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right... to be confronted with the witnesses against him." Until 2004, judges usually allowed jurors to hear "reliable" secondhand accounts of what witnesses said if the witness was not available. For example, a police officer could report on what a missing witness had said. But in a case that year ,Justice Anton Scalia insisted this "hearsay" violated the defendant's rights under the 6th Amendment. "Where testimonial statements are at issue, the only [test] of reliability... is the one the Constitution actually prescribes: confrontation," Scalia said at the time in Crawford vs. Washington.

Hearsay is an out of court statement "offered for the truth of the matter asserted" and not subject to cross-examination, typically because the person or speaker is unavailable. Such statements are deemed unreliable because of the obvious fact that they can easily be fabricated and cannot be tested through cross examination in a court. But, when a victim in fear that her partner will kill her she prepares the “EAA” document, has is witnessed, then notarized, she will read her document in a video she creates from her computer, cell phone etc so if something does happen to her, the video and document are provided to authorities and the person is arrested. If Stacy Peterson had completed this “will statement document” the person responsible would have been arrested.

The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and video provides solid admissible legal documentation and answers, for victims such as those murdered in any State and all unsolved intimate partner violence and homicide across cases the county. Allegations and fears that arise when a person has disappeared when they announce the relationship is ending, gone or have been found dead.

In the name of saving lives, I will gladly email a pdf copy of the book "Time's Up" to the University of Oklahoma in hopes you will use a method that has kept victims safe and more importantly, alive. Please email me at murphymilano@gmail.com

JFK once said, "Tragedy is a tool for the living to gain wisdom, not a guide by which to live." Violence is one of those tragedies. You either gain wisdom enough to leave, or you continue to live with it and risk your life."

Krishonda Leanne Townsend: A Victim of Intimate Partner Violence ?

What does an abandon 1997 Toyota, a karate school, social networks and specific friendships have to do with the disappearance of Krishonda Townsend, age 19 who vanished from Mineral Wells, Texas on July 4, 2010?

Is her case a random abduction? Or a carefully planned out intimate partner homicide?

An intimate relationship is a particularly close interpersonal relationship, and the term is sometimes used euphemistically for a sexual relationship. The characteristics of an intimate relationship include an enduring behavioral interdependence, repeated interactions, emotional attachment and need fulfillment. Intimate relationships include friendships, dating relationships, and marital relationships and there are individual differences in both the quality and quantity of these relationships.

In my opinion, after reviewing new information on Krishonda’s case, one or more individuals who knew her are also involved with her being taken 4th of July night staged to look like an abduction.

On January 12, 2011, Monica Caison, founder of the Cue Center for missing persons, featured Krishonda Townsend’s case on www.therothshow.com. The following day on the "Susan Murphy Milano show Time’s UP" on last half hour of the broadcast, the case was again featured HERE. The date of the broadcast was the 13th of January.

I strongly suggest those with knowledge listen to the entire final half hour, we do everything but say the full names of those involved. Even if you have knowledge of the crime, you can be charged with obstruction of justice for not coming forward.

I am hoping that those “with information” will listen to both shows and step forward by placing an anonymous phone call to either the Cue Center or law enforcement the number listed below. Until her body is recovered and or an arrest is made, coverage will continue on this case.

I would like to send a special message, more like a code, for those in the know on this case-is this really worth free karate lessons? And please take note of the tag words associated with this post.

Details of Disappearance
Krishonda was last seen on July 4th, 2010 at 7:p.M.

She left home in Perrin,Texas and went to a friends house on US Highway 180 West in Mineral Wells Texas. She was driving her gray and purple 1997 Toyota.

"Not In Our Hands"

Since the New Year I scheduled journalist and author of Fatal Vows, Joe Hosey on The Roth show and each time a snow storm or other last minute glitches prevented this from happening.

I kept my fingers crossed today, checked the weather, confirmed an hour before the broadcast with Joe he would be on the show. Great, I thought, finally. We begin the show and Joe Hosey had not called into the station, it was 7:04PM. Thinking he was delayed we opened with the missing mother case of Stacy Peterson. During the station break Dr. Laurie Roth and I agreed to discuss cases of intimate partner violence and homicide.

During the show I happen to look at the date. On the air I said "Oh my God," it is January 19th, a date that for me has great significance. The date and the year of 1989 is recorded in the Cook County vital statistics office in Illinois It is the death certificate of my mother Roberta Murphy, 47 yrs old.

Although she was killed on the 16th, her body was not discovered until the 19th. She was murdered. A victim of intimate partner homicide. The shooter, my father a decorated Chicago violent crimes detective, who ultimately took his own life.

My mothers murder is how I began working with others around the county. This was not a career choice. For the little girl whom was unable to save her mother, hundreds of thousands of women and their children are alive because of her murder, today.

I had planned over the weekend to somehow acknowledge the anniversary of her death, but I was on the road myself working and lecturing on this subject and literally landed at the airport an hour before the show.

Clearly, tonights crime segment for the hour was divinely guided by God. And likely a little nudging from my mother. It is also to say that everything good or bad in our lives, happens for a reason. Here on earth those answers, are found in the word of God and the kingdom he promises us when we leave this life. I myself have questioned, struggled often kicked and screamed with the whys and how come things happen the way they do since 1989. But again, it is not in our hands.

My mother's death would eventually be the key that opened doors for those affected by violence to leave safely. Because of her, the book "Times' Up: A Guide in How to Leave and Survive Abusive and Stalking Relationships" takes those from the "State of being controlled to the "State of being in control." This means from the moment a person decides to end their relationship or file for a divorce from a toxic and perhaps dangerous individual. Learning the steps necessary to protect yourself self is key. That key to the door opened up to the world when an amazing woman, lost her life.

A day has not gone by that I am not reminded of her love and strength. Somehow she managed to pass on to me what she could never do for herself, fight. And that fight lives on in me for it is what has clearly, with the help of God, allowed others to live.
