The High Cost of Doing the Right Thing with Michale Callahan

In 2000, Michale Callahan was the newly promoted Investigations Commander over a nine county area in East Central Illinois. His first assignment, to review the fourteen-year-old murder of a young, newlywed couple, Dyke and Karen Rhoads, would change his life forever, shattering his faith in the department he had loved and had dedicated his life to. Rumblings from the Downstate Illinois Innocence Project, The Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University and an impending show on CBS’s 48 Hours were that two men had been wrongfully convicted for these murders. This attention drew deep concern from the corrupt administration of Governor George Ryan and the politically compromised command of the Illinois State Police. Founder of CUE Center for Missing Persons, Monica Caison, returns to the show to update listeners on missing persons cases. Sunshine in Sunrise Removed for Danielle Lorenzo and Linda Scudera as a Result of Intimate Partner Homicide

Over the weekend in Sunrise, Florida, a five year-old child runs out from witnessing a massacre in her own home to a neighbors door for help.

In front of the child [pictured above in grandma's arms] her step-father at close range shoots Danielle Lorenzo age 30[pictured right] her mother, fires another round at her grandma Linda Scudera, age 56, before turning the gun on himself committing suicide.

With the assistance of the neighbor the 5 year child spoke to the 911 operator in detail as to what happened. The call is very disturbing and it is below:

The child says " I need someplace to live my mommy, daddy and grandma are dead."

Today in court a hearing was held as to the temporary placement of the child. Under child services she will temporarily remain with a babysitter with whom she is familiar. But what happens to the child when these strangers who will have control of her until the age of 18, determine where to place her? Is anyone really all that concerned about another child, suddenly a number in the system?

The 911 call must be America's awake up to take action in all cases of intimate partner homicide and those left behind. Danielle had suffered prior incidents of abuse. She had enough and was planning on divorcing her husband. He responded to Danielle's request to end the relationship by killing she and her mother in cold blood.

The child will never, ever recover from this trauma. She will require services that the State of Florida will not cover due to lack of quality resources and services. Placing the child in the system will be internalized at some level as a punishment for what "daddy did to my mommy." And if you believe she will get past this or forget what happened, you are mistaken. When you witness or discover such horror, nothing erases it from your mind. Very few experts treating this type of specific trauma are not successful and often resort to medication as a major part of therapy.

The solution begins in recognizing intimate partner violence as a crime. The lives this shatters go beyond the victim and offender. It literally destroys the ability for a child to live a normal life well into their adult years.

Week after week I provide an insight into these real life tragedies, praying that the world will wake up and actually do something that changes lives. Treat these cases from the beginning with the same seriousness given to a drunk who gets in their car and drives. The offenders committing a first or second offense have no consequences as it relates to intimate partner violence. For the most part it is not dealt with as a crime, even though we have laws that say otherwise.

I am the daughter of Roberta Murphy. When she was alive, I had a brief glimmer that hope really existed. When she was murdered in cold blood by my father who then committed suicide, the sun stopped shinning in my life. And though I so readily attempt to pass hope out to the world like a piece of candy on a street corner, it is what gets me up most mornings. The possibility that I can and do keep another person alive.

Crossing Your Fingers and Living in Fear

Relationships with narcissists drag out slowly and tortuously. Narcissists do not provide closure. They stalk. They cajole, beg, promise, persuade, and, ultimately, succeed in doing the impossible yet again: sweep you off your feet, though you know better than to succumb to their spurious and superficial charms. So, you go back to your "relationship" and hope for a better ending. You walk on eggshells.

You become perfect picture of submissiveness, a weak source of narcissistic supply, the ideal mate or spouse or partner or colleague. You keep your fingers crossed. But how does the narcissist react to the resurrection of the bond? It depends on whether you have re-entered the liaison from a position or strength - or of vulnerability and weakness.

The narcissist casts all interactions with other people in terms of conflicts or competitions to be won. He does not regard you as a partner - but as an adversary to be subjugated and defeated.

As far as the abuser is concerned, your return to the fold is a triumph, proof of his superiority and irresistibility. If he perceives you as autonomous, dangerously independent, and capable of bailing out and abandoning him - the narcissist acts the part of the sensitive, loving, compassionate, and empathic counterpart. Narcissists respect strength, they are awed by it. As long as you maintain a "no nonsense" attitude, placing the narcissist on probation, he is likely to behave himself. If, on the other hand, you have resumed contact because you have capitulated to his threats or because you are manifestly dependent on him financially or emotionally - the narcissist will pounce on your frailty and exploit your fragility to the maximum.

Following a perfunctory honeymoon, he will immediately seek to control and abuse you. In both cases, the narcissist's thespian reserves are exhausted and his true nature and feelings emerge. The facade crumbles and beneath it lurks the same old heartless falsity that is the narcissist. His gleeful smugness at having bent you to his wishes and rules, his all-consuming sense of entitlement, his sexual depravity, his aggression, pathological envy, and rage - all erupt uncontrollably.

The prognosis for the renewed affair is far worse if it follows a lengthy separation in which you have made a life for yourself with your own interests, pursuits, set of friends, needs, wishes, plans, and obligations, independent of your narcissistic ex and unrelated to him. The narcissist cannot countenance your separateness.

To the abuser, you are a mere instrument of gratification or an extension of his bloated False Self. He resents your pecuniary wherewithal, is insanely jealous of your friends, refuses to accept your preferences or compromise his own, in envious and dismissive of your accomplishments.

Ultimately, the very fact that you have survived without his constant presence seems to deny him his much-needed Narcissistic Supply. He rides the inevitable cycle of idealization and devaluation.

He berates you, humiliates you publicly, threatens you, destabilizes you by behaving unpredictably, fosters ambient abuse, and uses others to intimidate and humble you ("abuse by proxy").

You are then faced with a tough choice: To leave again and give up all the emotional and financial investments that went into your attempt to resurrect the relationship - or to go on trying, subject to daily abuse and worse?

So much of what goes on in leaving an abusive relationship has to do with fear. What will happen to me? Who will take care of and love me? These questions are in everyone’s mind as they remain hostage in the abusive relationship and they prevent anyone in these situations from seeking help. Recognize that if abuse happens once, it happens again. So, know it and get away from it. Someone will be on the other side to help you. But most importantly, learn to love yourself.

Ken Huber Police Chief on Trial For Murder

Ken Huber, 42, is the former Chief of Police charged with the murder of his wife Pam Huber on October 28, 2007 (pictured above the prison stripes is a photo taken at the time of his arrest the other was taken just today as jury selection began in his trial for the murder of his wife, Pam.

This cowdly, tin, badge Chief, charged with first-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, shot his wife Pam, once in the head with a .40-caliber pistol on Oct. 28, 2007, in their Highmore South Dakota home while her 11-year-old daughter slept next to her.

A criminal complaint obtained in October of 2007, outlined a series of complicated relationships including an affair between Ken Huber and a Hyde County State's Attorney by the name of Jennifer Lowrie that ultimately led to a conflict of interest in the case.

It should come as no surprise Ken was an abuser of physical and emotional abuse.

The night of the murder, according to the complaint, Jennifer Lowrie spoke with her "lover" Ken Huber about 10 p.m., for about 50 minutes on Oct. 28, 2007, on the night of the shooting.

Ken Huber waited until midnight and then the coward called 911 and reported that his wife had been accidentally shot while he had been moving a gun.

How can a trained expert in Glock guns and Chief of Police use the excuse "accidental shooting" as a defense? Basically, Huber is a coward.

Jury selection began today. It is likely Ken Huber will rot in a jail cell, as he should for the murder of Pan Huber.

Domestic Violence During The Holidays

The Circus Returns

Drew Peterson is resurfacing, this time he and he legal marshmallow roaster will appear on the CBS Early Show to discuss an upcomming book by a self-published Canadian businessman to be released later this week.

The front cover of the book has 2 photo's one of Peterson hooked up to a polygraph machine and the other is a family portrait with Stacy, Drew and all four children taken a couple years ago.

Will County is no closer to charging and arresting Drew Peterson on either Stacy Peterson or Kathleen Savio. And as an important side note to this circus lets not forget Lisa Stebic.

In this game of catch me if you can, with the one anniversary of Stacy's vanishing act at the end of October one wonders if James Glascow's Prosecutors have presented enough of a case for a grand jury to even indict Peterson?

Too many questions and not enough answers in domestic violence,vanishing, murder, stalking, and felony cases not only in Illinois but across the Country.

If nothing else this should be a wake-up call to the Department of Justice. This is your front row seat to real life tragedies within our legal system .

The above photo is of Amy Yager, taken from her myspace page. She is not so lucky, on September 12, 2008 in her home, Jeff David Yager, a Federal Officer, beat the luckiest woman in the world. Then he finished her off and fired 2 rounds into her body. One to the torso, the other at close ranger to her head.

This big tin badge coward, murdered his wife. He sits in a Texas jail. Could he or someone post the $25,000 cash required to get out of jail until his trial? It is a possibility.


A news story appeared in a Texas paper on the murder and I was outraged by commentary left by readers claiming to be friends or realted to the couple here is a sample:

"i think a lot of you that have wrote these blogs should be ashame of you're self .you don't know how it is to come up with nothing and try to make something of you're self DAVID GREW UP WITH A HARD LIFE .I KNOW BECOUSE I WAS THER TO SEE HIM EVERY DAY .I KNOW WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG BUT THERE IS A WEAK SPOT IN EVERY ONE OF US .HOW MANY RICH PEOPLE HAVE KILLED IN A BIT OF ANGER? THIS COULD HAVE BEEN YOU JUST AS WELL AS AMY CLEAN UP YOU'RE ON BACK DOOR THEN WORRY ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS HE HAS TO ANSWER TO GOD NOT YOU. YOU DON'T KNOW THE WHOLE STORY. DAVID IS A PART OF MY FAMILY SO I KNOW HOW HE GREW UP . THINK WHAT YOU MAY IT COULD BE YOU NEXT TIME."


Blaming, making excuses, all because we know the person arrested for the crime has become common in our society when a husband or an ex murders their spouse or significant other. Sorry but the friend or relative has not a clue about violence in the home or what a woman similar to Amy endures. And if you would like to send me nasty words in an email or on this blog I suggest you do your homework on my background, first.


When the tragedy was broadcast by the local media , a plea of sorts was sent out asking the public for any information they could provide in the case. Seems very clear cut to me. I was stumped as to what other information they [the police] are seeking? And this is what most of the news organizations asked: A motive for the crime was being investigated. Anyone with information should call the special crimes Tnit at 378-9468. The police are asking the public for a motive??? Again, you have the shooter, the weapon, and the body. Is there any question about that? If they are so concerned and wish to wast manpower begin by checking the police department phone call logs just two nights before the shooting. Didn't Amarillo Police respond to a domestic disturbance call at the home of the Yager's?

There are no room for questions, doubts or stone throwing in this case. It is simple. Jeffrey David Yager Murdered Amy Yager in cold blood.

Today, Amy was laid to rest. It is important to me as the daughter of a law enforcement officer who murdered his wife, and my mother, that changes on how these cases are handled, charged and reported come out of the stone age and into the twenty first century.

Stop sugar coating these cases at both the felony and misdeameanor level. Redirect how they are reported in the media. Train Officers to see the signs within their own units.

Amy Yager, and the thousands before her, did not have to die because someone demanded power and control over their lives.

There's your investigation summary!
