That Badge..That Gun..No Place to Run..

Yesterday in Roanoke, Virgina, as Jennifer Agee, 30 pulled into a convenience store parking lot with a child sitting in the car seat, she was gunned down in cold blood by her former husband, Franklin County Sheriff, Johnathan Agee. Immediately after shooting her, he burned rubber in the parking lot and took off.

A few minutes later he fired at other officers, wounding one, before he was stopped by returning fire. Agee was airlifted and is in critical condition. If Agee survives he will be charged with murder The other officer is recovering from a shot to the leg. Jennifer Agee died a short time later at the hospital. It is difficult for any law enforcement community when these tragedies occur, but what could have been done to prevent the murder of Jennifer Agee? Did fellow officers see signs? Were comments made prior to the shooting or around the time the couple divorced that he was going to "take care" of the problem? Was it apparent he was angry over the ending of the marriage? Besides training in the community as it relates to stalking and intimate partner violence, what are fellow officers in the law enforcement community taught when it is one of their own? The answer is nothing. It is not part of training either at the police academy or in continuing education.

How about programs for wives and girlfriends former or otherwise? What measures are in place for their safety? The answer is nothing. They have no shield, no place to run, no training as it relates to possibly diffusing the situation. In this tragic case, Jennifer Agee was stalked prior to her being killed.

In a newspaper remark it said "It was not clear what made the 32-year-old deputy snap." In my opinion, he did not just snap! This was brewing over time. No one wakes up one morning out of the clear blue and decides to kill. It does not happen that way.

If the Franklin County Sheriff Ewell A. Hunt wants to investigate this tragedy, I suggest he begin by interviewing her friends, family and his. Talk with those they both knew and worked with on a daily basis. Obtain the cell phone, text and computer emails, records from each of them. What about where she lived? Did she call police because he was following her? Was a report written or dismissed because he was in law enforcement?

This is and should not be treated as an isolated incident. As I write this you have partners married or in a relationship with law enforcement whom are now living in greater fear for their lives. While you should always be there for your officers, consider going that extra mile as it pertains to spouses and girlfriends as they also require special attention during this time.

In memory of Jennifer Agee, it is the very least you can do, before someone else is killed.

If you are in a violent relationship the first time you are threatened, hit, stalked, questioned in a controlling way, a second chance to save your life, is no longer an option.

“If you are reading this and find yourself in a similar situation, know that there are measures you must take before announcing the end of your relationship. These safety precautions can be found in the book, "Time's Up: A Guide on How to Leave an Abusive and Stalking Relationship" by Susan Murphy Milano. Don't take things into your own hands without expert guidance.” (Mothers Are Vanishing)

I cannot stress enough, if you are in a relationship that has a history of violence, simply mustering up the courage to confront the person and say it is over, without the proper tools, can cost you, your life!

One of the major reasons women stay in abusive relationships is fear. They are afraid of what will happen to them and their children if they leave. Sadly, their fears are often justified; statistics show that a woman is at the greatest risk for injury when sheannounces her plans or leaves an abusive relationship.

The book "Time's Up A Guide on How To Survive and Abusive and Stalking Relationship" is the prescription, if you will, that every person must obtain before they announce they are leaving. Below is an example from Chapter 4, one of many unique tools provided in the book. It is available onAmazon.com, or you can purchase via e-book or on a cd. If you have questions, the email address is: timesupforjustice@gmail.com

Before you decide that you have had enough and are ending the relationship create for yourself the "Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit" and video (shown below).

If you do nothing else, please take one important step that if something does happen to you, if you do vanish like Stacy Peterson, Vensus Stewart, Rachel Anderson, Susan Powell, Lisa Stebic, or arefound murdered like Monica Beresford-Redmond, Franki Jacobson, Renee Pagel, Summer Inman,Kelly Rothwell and others where the person responsible has gotten away with murder that your voice and record of the abuse will be captured and recorded. Do it for you friends, family and loved ones. Do it for your children. Do it for you!

As the largest media event since the OJ Simpson trial begins in

Orlando, FL, we must remember that justice for little two year old, Caylee Anthony is at stake. Diane Fanning is the author of “Mommy’s Little Girl” the #1 Best Seller about the short life of Caylee and the information surrounding the search for her.

Fanning is one of the elite true crime authors and takes time to do painstaking research on all the cases she writes about. One of those cases made it's way into "Through the Window" about serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells who confessed to the murder of a little boy whose mother was wrongfully convicted and sentence for 65 years. Diane Fanning's testimony in the appeal of Julie Rea Harper led to her being exonerated.

Diane is a recent recipient of the "Defenders of the Innocents" Award from the Innocence Project of Illinois, presented by Julie Rea Harper.

Diane Fanning is not only one of the queens of True Crime, she also pens a series of novels incorporating the character of Lt. Lucinda Pierce, a tough as nails detective who was once a disfigured victim of domestic violence, and now on a mission to solve crimes and put away criminals.

Websleuths Radio

TRICIA GRIFFITH

Tricia Griffith

As a child Tricia Griffith and her friends would play "detective," trying to find all the criminals they knew were hiding somewhere in the neighborhood. However, no record exists of them ever finding any, which may be one of the reasons that she, as an adult, now finds satisfaction in co-owning one of the largest true crime forums on the Internet, Websleuths.com

Another of Tricia’s childhood activities -- which consumed a great deal of her time -- was vocalizing into her old reel-to-reel tape recorder (this was just before the days of cassettes). She loved to carry her tape recorder around with her and continuously talk into the microphone, describing various scenes and narrating her actions. Thus the incipient DJ developed her radio skills at an early age. Tricia began her broadcasting career in 1979 and continued working in radio for over 30 years.

In 1997, Tricia ventured onto the Internet for the first time, where she read about the JonBenet Ramsey case. And she’s been hooked on true crime ever since.

In 2004 Tricia acquired Websleuths.com which at the time was a small true crime discussion forum. Today she is co-owner of Websleuths.com And with the help of incredible moderators and loyal members, Websleuths.com is now one of the top true crime discussion forums on the Internet, with a membership of over 30 thousand. www.websleuths.com

Websleuths.com is the go-to place on the Internet for true crime information. Like Suzanne Smalley of Newsweek said in hercolumn May 18th 2010, “Now, when I cover any high-profile crime, I make sure to check out Web Sleuths . . .”

Now Tricia takes true crime discussion to the next logical step: Websleuths Radio. It’s guaranteed that this radio show will be unique and incomparable to any other. Websleuths radio will be lively and filled with true crime information; but be assured that the broadcasts will not allow shouting nor rudeness.

Tricia shares her house with her son, 3 dogs, 11 finches, 8 parakeets, one fish and one snake. In her spare time she sleeps.

The Murder of Joseph DiMare

Over five decades, the murder of wealthy produce merchant Joseph DiMare — shot in the head in his white Cadillac in North Miami on March 24th 1961 — has faded into obscurity amid South Florida’s rich crime lore.

But one man won’t let it go. To Richard DiMare, the victim’s 69-year-old son, the murder probe is a cause championed only by him. For the better part of the past three decades, he has flooded police, prosecutors and politicians with angry letters demanding justice.

Our guest, Richard DiMare will highlight this 50 year fight for justice for his father.

Passage of The Chanda Turner Bill in Oklahoma

Little did Donna and Joe Turner realize that justice for the death of their daughter would be such a long road. Chanda Turner was shot in her home on July 12, 2000 and her death was originally ruled a suicide. Despite repeated requests, the family was denied an autopsy for almost 10 years. Knowing they would never give up fighting to get justice for their daughter, her parents buried her in a sealed casket inside a sealed crypt to preserve her body for the day when they could finally get an autopsy.

Since that time the Turners have been fighting, along with several other families, for reform of a Medical Examiner's Office in which appeals for change were not granted. Attorney Jaye Mendros of Oklahoma City was retained to help these families make changes necessary to give them the opportunity to have a legal mechanism to correct all the mistakes in their cases. The Chanda Turner Bill has gone through all the necessary judicial steps, now they await the final step. The will update the team on their journey for justice!

Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement versus Bruised Egos in the Murder of Sheena Morris

These are photos from the Kelly Rothwell search, the police cadet who went missing on March 12, 2011. Kelly Rothwell's boyfriend was the last person to see her alive. The family contacted the CUE Center for Missing Persons and these are a few of the certified recovery searchers in the country, among them is Kelly Osborn.

When called, she braves the elements to bring those lost and missing home to their families; law enforcement often calls in those trained and with experience to do the job properly. Because every search is a potential crime scene, what is found is tagged and documented as evidence. During this particular search it had to be difficult to return to a community where law enforcement has refused to investigate an unsolved case. You would not know that Kelly herself is searching for answers that are fairly simply as it relates to her own daughters case. She is searching for justice.

On January 1, 2009, Sheena Morris was found dead in a hotel, hanging from the shower. Her then boyfriend was not arrested at the time, and would not be questioned by Bradeton, Florida officers for some 22 days later.

Sheena Morris placed a call to 911 hours before her death reporting domestic violence by her dangerous boyfriend. She even took pictures of her injuries, a cut on her neck, on her ring finger.

The people in the next room of the hotel also called 911 before her murder to report the disturbance and sound of violence coming from the room next door.

Shortly before her death, the keys to her apartment were taken and she was physically attacked. The keys are an important part of this case because Sheena Morris had criminal information that would implicate the last person to see her alive. It doesn't help that the dangerous and criminal boyfriend also has direct ties to the Genovese family and he can be placed at her apartment carrying out boxes with the stolen keys taken from Sheena just before he staged her death to make it look like a suicide. In March, her death certificate was changed from suicide to undetermined.

There were mistakes made at the crime scene of Sheena Morris, but egos of the Bradenton Police Department are stopping a mother from having the investigation opened. The bottom line is, all that is required is for another county to come and re-investigate the case. In this resort play land of a community, you have a killer on the loose.

Expert forensic reports state that the crime scene was staged, and this points directly to an intimate partner homicide. The evil and criminal boyfriend roams the streets free. Maybe residents and potential home buyers in Bradenton Beach will unknowingly hire the killer, also a Genovese family member, to lay new carpet or tile in their home. Does he bring that much revenue to the tax rolls in the community to warrant looking the other way? I think not!

Obviously, those in the Bradenton Beach police department are not getting the message that this is not going away unless it is given to the investigators in Manatee County (the Sheriff Brad Steube is also up for re-election.)

Then we have the officials at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Commissioner Gerald M. Baily who have the ability to implement a "changing of the guard," if you will, because the Bradenton Police Chief position is appointed, not elected.

This mother has given so much to families of the missing across the country, most recently in the State of Florida, and this is how those in the local law enforcement treat an unsolved homicide victim's familiy? It raises the question, what else are they not doing as it pertains to crime and safety in their own backyard?
