Pat Brown is a nationally known criminal profiler, television commentator, author, and founder and CEO of The Sexual Homicide Exchange and The Pat Brown Criminal Profiling Agency.

Pat has provided crime commentary and profiling and forensic analysis in over one thousand television and radio appearances in the United States and across the globe. She can be seen regularly on the cable television news programs, CNN, MSNBC and FOX, and is a frequent guest of the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, Larry King, Inside Edition, Nancy Grace, Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell, Joy Behar, and America’s Most Wanted.

For four seasons, Pat Brown profiled crimes on the weekly Court TV crime show, I, Detective. Criminal Profiler Pat Brown is the host of the 2004 Discovery Channel documentary, The Mysterious Death of Cleopatra. In the spring of 2006, Pat went inside one of Florida’s maximum-security prisons to interview a child murderer for the Discovery Channel series, Evil Minds. In 2010 she profiled a new Jack the Ripper suspect for Investigation Discovery’s Mystery Files. She is the author ofThe Profiler: My Life Hunting Serial Killers and Psychpaths (Hyperion Voice 2010) and Killing for Sport: Inside the Minds of Serial Killers (Phoenix Books 2003), and is a contract writer for Crime Library.

Pat contributed special feature content included in the 2005 home DVD edition of Profiler: Season Two and the 15th Anniversary Edition, 2006 DVD release of Quentin Tarantino’s crime classic, Reservoir Dogs.

"Abracadabra"

"Abracadabra" is commonly used as an incantation by stage magicians and their imitators. If you stop and think about it controlling and violent abusers do the same thing when their wives and girlfriends with whom they have lost control, suddenly vanish.

An abuser is similar to a magician, only their stage is behind closed doors. There are far too many imitators to list but they each appear to follow the same pattern. It varies from case to case, but in the end the magic act is identical. The women always vanish and usually without a trace.

More often than not, the abuser magician does not report the mother of his children or soon to be ex-wife missing. That responsible usually falls on a concerned family member. When Illinois mother and wife Lisa Stebic simply vanished did Craig Stebic contact police or was it her family? How about when Stacy Peterson disappeared? Who made out the police report? When Susan Powell of Utah went missing (more like erased from the planet) wasn’t it her family that contacted authorities? How about Tabitha Franklin, Rachel Conger, Rachel Anderson, Renee Pernice, Star Boomer, Jana Morton, Carrie Ann Monroe, Theresa Parker, Vensus Stewart, Liza Murphy or Pamela Knight. There is not enough space to list the thousands of victims of violence labeled in some detective's desk drawer or filing cabinet across the country, as the person responsible, in my opinion, plays a clever game of catch me if you can. “ I didn’t do it”. “I have no idea where they could be, we are doing everything to help police find her. But really, does anyone ever see these abusers go out on searches and look for their wives or girlfriends?

My favorite response to these “abuser magicians” who, in my opinion, commit murder, is when they retain an attorney. All you hear their legal representative say is, “my client is innocent” or “the police are only speculating at this point” or “no comment.” With the exception of one defense lawyer, who likely has his bald head shined and polished for the cameras at least once a day, if not twice, depending on how much spin he can make out of his famous dick less wonder of a serial abuser client whom is about to stand trial for murder; then you can expect a real magical act to appear in full costume in the courtroom and before the cameras.

These cases have, for the most part, turned into a tragic magical circus act with innocent lives hijacked, set briefly on a world stage, until the following day when another magician tries their hand at successfully making the mother of their children, and or wife, vanish without a trace.

If you or a loved one are preparing to leave an abusive relationship or are being stalked, please consider the importance pf creating the “Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit" and video. It is a sworn statement detailing the facts of an individual’s victimization, preserving the specifics so they are not lost, even if the victim is. It's difficult to think about speaking from the grave, but no different than any life insurance policy or living will obtained in consideration for those left behind in cases of domestic violence and stalking related crimes. National Criminal Profiler Pat Brown :TIME'S UP for Domestic Abuse

Nearly a day does not pass without watching Nancy Grace, MSNBC., Fox News, Jane Velez Mitchell that you do not see and hear Profiler Pat Brown weighing in on a horriffic criminal case. One would not think that with her busy schedule, including her new blogtalk radio show "Profile This," that she has the time to review anything other than what new case she has to profile next. The "master decorder of truth," as I refer to her Pat Brown, took time from her schedule to review my latest book. Reprinting her words below is my way of acknowledging and thanking her when I know her own amazing book is set for release in just 2 weeks titled, The Profiler: My Life Hunting Serial Killers and Psychopaths.

We hear the term, "Domestic Abuse," thrown around quite a bit and it is worth taking a look at what it really means in our own lives. Is it physical, mental, or both? When does one spouse's treatment of the other cross the line from just imperfect humans struggling in a relationship to one partner mistreating the other? After all, we know that marriage can be "work" and issues have to be dealt with and ironed out. We are going to disagree, even argue and be mad at each other, and, sometimes, we are not going to actually be able to kiss and make-up before bedtime. When should one start to worry that there is something really wrong with our marriage partnership?

I would say it is when the "partnership" becomes a boss and employee relationship and the boss is someone we would like to fire. While everyone wants power and control in life, a spouse must be willing to share that power and control with their partner, work together to achieve a balance where both parties are satisfied with the equation. Doing so is not a problem for those who love their spouse and want to see their spouse happy and want to achieve a positive and pleasing family life. Working together is an expectation for a committed couple and being good role models for the children is a natural desire for caring parents.

When one spouse becomes the master, putting his or her needs and desires above the spouse's, doesn't care how his/her mate feels, ignores the impact of this imbalance on the children, this is abuse - whether it is in the form of emotional manipulation of physical domination.

But, let's suppose you have already blown it and you are stuck in a nightmare; you are being mentally or physically tortured with regularity and you fear your mate instead of feeling safe in their company. It's time to make the decision to leave. Susan Milano-Murphy, one of my fellow bloggers at Women in Crime Ink knows well when someone should make a break for it and titles her new book on escaping abuse, TIME'S UP: A Guide on How to Leave an Abusive and Stalking Relationship.

Until the horrific news of the murders on the South Side of Chicago hit the airwaves, Jennifer Hudson's life was many a girl's dream. Ms. Hudson, American Idol contestant and Dreamgirls star, had made it; well, more than made it. She had risen from the streets of Chicago and made the type of choices that eventually brought her fame and fortune.

However, Ms. Hudson couldn't choose which family to be born into, and even though she loves her mother and siblings, she can't force them to make smart choices for themselves. Sadly, each one of her family members appears to have played with fire and ended up getting burnt by it. Mom Darnell Donerson and brother Jason Hudson ended up being shot in their home. Sister Julia lost her son Julian King (pictured right), found dead the back of his uncle's stolen and abandoned SUV; someone had no problem pumping a number of bullets into a seven-year-old boy. All totalled, this horrific crime left in its wake three homicide victims and two grieving sisters. In my opinion, however, the only truly innocent victims were the little boy himself and Jennifer Hudson. The rest aided and abetted the alleged killer. Go to Women and Crime to Read More.

Gunslinging Texas prosecutor Siegler has much to say on the subject, having tried her share of intimate partner homicides. Two of Kelly's most notable cases: Susan Wright, who was convicted of binding her husband to the couple's bed and stabbing him hundreds of times; and David Temple, whom a jury found guilty of the shotgun slaying of his pregnant wife. WCI's Kathryn Casey is working on a book about the Temple case.

Today, Kelly (pictured above) will give her take on two husbands who are prime suspects in their wives' deaths: Drew Peterson who has not been arrested for the disappearance and presumed murder of his wife, and a computer programmer currently on trial. Englishman Neil Entwistle is accused of murdering his wife and baby in 2006 . Women In Crime Ink's, Michele McPhee, whose book about the case hit bookshelves last week, is covering the trial.

Joining Kelly for the broadcast is Dr. Maurice Godwin, a forensic expert, investigative psychologist, and author. WCI's Violence Expert and author Susan Murphy-Milano will also participate in the discussion with her co-host Levi Page.
