Confirmed Connection and Arrest to a Cold- Blooded- Killer in Oklahoma

Earlier today the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations held a press conference. Officially announcing Kevin Sweat has been charged with two counts each of first degree murder, and two counts each with intent to kill for the murders of Skyla Witaker, 11 and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13.

Police are still asking the public's help in locating the gun used in the murders (info in the poster). The District Attorney is also going to seek the death penalty.

Taylor Family Statement: "Michael Taylor extends his heart felt prayers to the families of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Pascal Placker. Today, a community can rest a little easier tonight in knowing the -killer- at- large has finally been named and charged in the girls murders."

On September 6, 2011, the story below about the case's ran on the blog:

The 3 photo's above are of Keven Joe Sweat. On August 3, 2011 he was arrested and charged with the murder of Ashley Celeste Taylor, 23. Police recovered her remains on August 10, 2011 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Ashley Celeste Taylor went missing on July 15, 2011, as in most intimate partner violence cases Sweat told numerous stories about his fiance' search teams combed various areas until her remains were finally recovered.

But this may not be his only murder. The activities of Keven Sweat begin with a forum he is a member of under the name "Deviant" below is a partial journal entry dated April 14, 2011.

Well america, what can I say? World's gone to shit and when you look at everything, it was only a matter of time.

Anyway, back to me, I got in touch with one of my friends that I haven't spoked to since a bad confrotation between her and my 'fiance', which I probably shouldn't of talked to her, cause she has had feelings for me, which I don't feel the same way, she's trying her damndest to get me to come to California to be with her.........NO! FUCK NO! She's trying to get me in trouble. *sigh* Guess I had it coming, but it won't matter in a few months, I'm taking every step I can to make sure I can start over in life whether people like it or not, it's my fucking life, not there's!

Your thinking, "Come on Josepi, it can't get any worse." Wanna bet?

Remember Tabby? The Tabby I've had a crush on for damn near a year? Well, I was gonna tell her how I felt before I left, least I could do even if Im not coming back. Well....she's now seeing someone...I kinda feel like an idiot cause I thought I had a chance even before all this shit...maybe I was lying to myself, try to find something to make me feel more real instead of a ghost who can only be seen on the web (no seriously, I try to speak and get cut off by someone else, even when I try to push it).

I'm not gonna lie, I fucked up alot over the years, but how many people do you know is willing to admit it. If I could go back, tell myself it ain't worth it, I would...but we both know I can't. When my brother died...well...part of me really did die, and I don't like myself even more than I did 10 years ago. Guess you can say that's why I'm leaving, to in a way...ok, not actually kill myself, but kill off Josepi. Go something, change my name to something I like (come on now, who wants the last name 'sweat'?........exactly)

People might think that what I'm doing is extreme, but how far will you go to change? To break away?

I don't know if I said this, so I'll say it now:

Last year I was at Petsmart, I was looking at the birds, and saw a lone parriot in a cage. I was just staring at it, and it stared right back at me, and that's when I realized we are all more like birds in a giant series of cages. In our own cage, looking out to the 'outside' world, and into everyone elses cage, expecting each other to do the same thing in our cage: eat, sleep, walking around, fly (if we could).

We must allow ourselves to continue this pattern, to be kept as birds in a cage. Whether we live long and 'fulfilling' lives isn't as important as the media makes it out to be, but what matters is that we choose to be free, break from our cages. Fly far...fly high...never be captured again...

Is there a connection to Keven Joe Sweat in the unsolved murders of Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, who were found dead in Weleetka three years ago on June 8, 2008? There is an aggressive investigation and according to sources law enforcement are piecing together what could possibly result in Keven Sweat being charged for the girls murders.

Would it take Ashley Taylor's murder for OSBI and the FBI to see the connection between Sweat and the girls murder(s) in 2008? We will never know if in someway Ashley stumbled onto information and Sweat could not take the chance so he killed her.

An award for information is still being offered in the girls murders that brings an arrest and conviction in the slaying is up to $160,000.

Anyone with information on the slaying is asked to call the OSBI at 800-522-8017.

A Letter To Sean

On November 28th, 2009, Karen Kahler and her daughters Emily and Lauren were shot to death by Karen's estranged husband while they were visiting her grandmother, Dorothy, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Dorothy was also shot and died a few days later.

Sean, a 10-year old son, escaped while bullets were being fired upon his family by his father inside the house, running for his life and surviving this horrific tragedy, phyically unharmed.

[As a violence expert and veteran to surviving family homicide, I was moved to write this young man a letter. Although I am using Sean's name it could have been Craig, Jennifer, Alice, Tom, Christopher, Bobby, Kathy, Lisa, Andrew, Laci, Conner, Cheryl with a list that goes on and on of children left to find their place in this world without those whom they love and, more importantly without answers.]

Dear Sean:

This is your first holiday without your sisters, grand grandmother and mother. The events that lead up to their deaths will for a very long time play out over and over in your mind as if you are watching a scary movie. You will have terrible nightmares, cold sweats, and be woken by a soft tender voice comforting you, suggesting "you to go back to sleep, it's okay. It was only a dream." But, you find going back to sleep difficult. Instead you may cry or get angry. And that is okay.

While you are awake, during the day, something will remind you of the tragedy. A dog barking outside, a silly commericial on television or simply the closing of a bedroom door. It doesn't take much really to remind you of what happend. And in the months to follow you will probably wonder when will you stop feeling so horrible. When will the pain go away? Some days will be better than others. And sometimes the pain you feel will be with you as if it were your worst enemy. You can't tell it to go away. You are not able to run from it. It will be your companion for many months.

After Christmas and New Year's it will be time for you to go back to school. At first you will have the feeling of your body being in a kind of thick fog. And your feet will not feel as if they are touching the ground as you walk. I suggest a relative sew in marbles or a few coins in the cuff's of your pants. This will help you feel like you are weighted down in some way. At the start of your first day back you might notice mom's driving or walking their kids to school. This will make you miss your mom all the more. You might be overwhelmed by this and ask the person who took you to school to bring you back to the house. You are not ready yet. This is a normal feeling.

Once you start feeling a little better and return to school try and get involved in a sport that you enjoy. Try to make friends with other kids in your class. And if you are invited to do something after school over on the weekend, accept the invitation only when you feel ready. Sometimes adults make us feel like we have to try or do something we do not feel ready or comfortable doing. Use your best judgement in each situation.

Maybe start your own private journal. Include the times you shared together with your Mom. The trips you took or how she made a special meal you enjoyed. On holidays make your mom a special card and place it in the journal. When your mom's birthday approaches do something special that she might have enjoyed sharing with you. If she had a favorite saying remember to write it down so you will always remember her words. Keep special photo's in the journal or on a disk. If your mom's voice is on her cell phone or the house phone on a recording ask a relative to make a few copies for you so you can hear her voice when you are feeling sad.

The most important piece of advice I can offer you is that you are stronger than you may believe. When you have bad days remember that your mother, although she is in heaven, lives in your heart. And even though you are not able to see or touch her in human form, she walks beside you proudly, from the moment you awake, until the time you rest your head at night.

The love of your Mom will remain with you, Sean, every single precious moment as you grow and build your own life, finish school and someday have a family of your own.

Tracking Those In The Name of Justice

Intimate Domestic Violence Homicides is an Internet site providing a national compilation of daily news articles about family violence murder and suicides. "Most mornings I wonder when society is going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all."

This important site is the brain child of Cathy Church whom is also the Executive Director of Access Justice NOW. The site also includes a google map chart indicting each tragedy. The site is important in bringing awareness to the plight of victims after a tragedy. And sadly, it is an important tracking information site of the men whom not only kill their spouse or girlfriend, but the children.

The site also advocates assistance for those who have been victims killed.

Do Not Let a Victim Die in Vain
If you have a family member, friend or loved one who has been killed because of intimate or domestic violence, do not let their death be in vain.
Access Justice Now, a non-profit dedicated to seeking justice on behalf of intimate and domestic violence victims, may be able to help.

Go to http://www.accessjusticenow.org/ and fill out the Legal Assistance form at the bottom of the home page if you feel the death of your friend or loved one could have been avoided had authorities taken steps to enforce the law.

Chicagoland Missing Mothers

From Mothers Are Vanishing

There is more than one missing mother in the Chicagoland area and probably more than the ones pictured here. We will not forget them and will continue to carry their messages until they are found.

Over a year has passed since Stacy Cales Peterson whispered to her sister Cassandra Cales that if she disappeared it was not an accident that "He killed her", over a year since she went missing without a trace leaving behind her babies, her home, her family, her friends, and almost a year since the body of Kathleen Savio was exhumed and her once called accidental death declared a homicide. These women, one now a victim of homicide who left behind a haunting plea for help to the state begging for help before he killed her, and one who begged her sister to find her if she disappeared because she feared for her life, as different as their cases are today -do have common ground. Both women were married to Drew Peterson, both women feared for their lives, both women tried to get help and get away, and both women were too late.

We, who gathered together to remember these women, who heard their voices only after they were gone, have vowed to make sure they are never forgotten, and that their names and stories live on. We are determined to see justice served.

Both of these mothers cried for help to a combination of their communities; family, friends, clergy, the police, the state, complete strangers, and in the end there was no one who could, or would protect them. The only voice they have been given is the media who has made them headline news. And so they have become the faces and the stories of thousands of women the media has passed over, a reminder that this can happen to any of us, or someone we know.

Domestic violence is unacceptable in our society, a plague which haunts behind closed doors, sunglasses and long sleeve shirts, often a well known dirty secret that no one talks about. We are determined to let victims know that there are options, there are ways to get out safely, there is help. But we have to reach them before it's too late.

Had someone helped Kathleen Savio or Stacy Peterson, had they heard their cries for help instead of turning their heads and pretending not to see- had someone listened and believed- taken the time to find out what could be done, or to change what could be done- we might not ever have known their names. They would be here today and four beautiful children would still have their moms.

These children deserve the truth, they deserve justice and the knowledge and comfort of knowing their mothers loved them very much and would be here with them if they could be. These children deserve to hear their mother's voice. They deserve the truth. They deserve our help. They deserve your help.

Speak out for those who can no longer speak for themselves!

Please take the time to become involved in your community. Contact your elected officials, make your voice heard, make your vote count on election day. Find out what you can do to help these women and others like them. Find out what you can do to prevent these crimes. Find out what you can do to demand justice. Take action.

But most importantly find out what your politicians and officials are doing to protect you and your loved ones, and to seek justice for these women. Make sure your voice is one they cannot ignore, it could happen to you or someone you love.
