Abusive Parents Who Sabotage the Medical Care of Their Children: The Susan Murphy-Milano Show Thursday April 5, 2012

A mother caught up by a psychopathic former husband in a court battle involving life and death issues with their son Clayton, who was born with nephrology issues that led to his first kidney transplant as a toddler. Mother and father divorced many several years ago.

The court at trial granted the mother custody of Clayton due to the father’s acts of domestic violence (against other women as well – he also was charged with witness tampering for his threats against those involved in his criminal matter).
Ever since the modification, things have been terrible. The father does not follow instructions of the doctors, preferring to get his medical information from the internet. At one point he gave the child a pill that he purchased off the internet that was guaranteed to cure all kidney disease. Clayton’s transplanted kidney failed and was removed several months ago meaning that he survives off of hemo-dialysis. He travels to Seattle three times a week for this. Mother works night shift at a local hospital and must leave work to get the child to his appointments. Father does everything he can to prevent this – making sure the child is not available to leave for appointments or messing with the transport arrangements, causing him to be late. The is currently in the Court of Appeals The child now has the option of having peritoneal dialysis which would allow him to be treated at home rather than constantly being at the hospital. The father is objecting because if this were to occur, the mother might actually get some sleep. As it is, she barely sleeps between the conclusion of dialysis and returning to work at night. The father argues over every bit of medication that the child is given. He constantly insists that the mother is not following doctor’s orders – although he could not tell you what is ordered. His skills are in throwing rocks that make the mother’s job as a parent as difficult as possible. He has no awareness whatsoever, and would deny, that his antics have genuinely hurt this child.

Living The Nightmare

Amy Leichtenberg quietly approached the casino boat gamblers with fliers, hoping they may have seen her ex-husband, a known gambler. Three weeks earlier, he abducted the couple’s two young sons and by now all other leads had come up snake eyes. Then her phone rang.

An investigator on the case told her to drive to the McLean County Sheriff’s Department to discuss something new in the case.

Leichtenberg excitedly made the two-hour drive to the police station, allowing herself to daydream about her two boys—9-year-old Duncan and 7-year-old Jack—happily greeting her there.

Inside the station, she didn’t see her boys waiting for her. Instead, Beth Kimmerling, the county coroner, introduced herself.

"No!" Leichtenberg screamed, quickly realizing her hopeful daydream turned into her worst nightmare. "No! No! No!"

The coroner couldn’t even get the words out, telling Leichtenberg that Duncan and Jack—the joys of her life—were dead. And her ex-husband was dead, too, taking his own life after killing both his sons.

"Where are my babies?!" Leichtenberg remembers asking frantically through sobs. "Where are my babies?!" The coroner told her the boys’ bodies were with their father’s body in the back of the police station.

"I want my boys as far away from him as possible!" Leichtenberg remembers yelling, punching a desk and nearby concrete walls.

As the coroner left, Leichtenberg dissolved into a chair, crying, screaming and shaking. She felt numb. She felt empty. She felt like joining her sons in heaven. "I want to see my babies," she remembers telling authorities. No, they told her. Not yet. Not now. Not in their condition.
She begged them. They refused.

Plan "B"

Suzan Annette Sowders-Fuller stood on her ranch in Bakersfield, California, crossed her arms and shook her head in disbelief, on Monday August, 3, 2009 when her estranged husband bonded (for the second time) out of jail paying a measly $750 to be back out on the street only to continue terrorizing his wife and kids. As of Monday last week there were 8 police reports for breaking a court order of protection; slicing tires, breaking and entering; verbal threats of death over the phone; taking a container of diesel fuel and dousing the house. The kicker, on Wednesday August 5, 2009, Robert Fuller was visiting as scheduled by the courts with the couple's 2 daughter's ages 8 and 5.

Robert Dale Fuller was allowed to continue supervised visitation with his children. Why wasn't he behind bars? Where was the district attorney? Why wasn't he charged with several felonies?

Could it be that no one took Suzan's cries for help seriously because she was going through a divorce? We will never know.

On Saturday August 8, 2009 at 2:25 a.m. a frantic call was placed to the police by the 8 year-old child, "please she screamed, help us, help us, my mommy, my grandma have been shot, hurry, hurry someone please hurry."

In front of both children Robert Fuller shot to death Suzan and her mother Sharon Cannon.

A spokesperson from the Sheriff's Department told the local news reporter they responded to a "domestic dispute." What no one knew at the time and I learned this morning, was the system refused to do its' job on many levels in this case.

At the conclusion of the article it reads "Sheriff urged anyone experiencing domestic violence or abuse to seek professional help."

The system appears to serve as nothore more then a light post for your street address as they approach the crime scene, respondong only after someone has been murdered by their violent husband or boyfriend. It is obvious for anyone experiencing violence in a relationship, or going through a nasty divorce, plan "B" is a survival requirement or they may not survive to see a new sunrise.

Part 2 of this post is tomorrow.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the Susan Murphy Milano show on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 3:00PM central time as we talk about this case with a family member and Claudia Dombrokski from Mothers Without Custody, including what women must arm themselves with to survive the abuse. The question of the day is: Are you interested in planning for a funeral or a new life?

The Susan Murphy Milano Show: Family Court Crisis

Wednesday, July 8th at 3:00 PM CST- LIVE

The number to call is 347-326-9337

Silently in court houses across America battered women seeking to leave their violent world with their children are encountering the silent world of the legal system. A legal system designed to protect is arming abusers with the tools for violent fathers to use their children to punish and control those mothers fleeing in hopes of a safer environment. And all too often, the women along with the children are killed.

We say to a woman in danger “leave, go to a shelter, seek an order of protection, keep your children safe” only to be slammed and knocked to on her feet by a legal system that rewards dangerous fathers sole custody of the children. The legal system is ill equipped to handle and decide matters that often involve life and death.

Join us live on Live at 3:00 PM Central Standard Time on The Susan Murphy Milano show as we continue our discussion on “Mother’s Without Custody.” On the show is co-founder of Protective Mothers Alliance Janet Levinson and a mother who has been fighting the system like thousands of others for over 10 years.
