This week was the one year anniversary of missing mother Susan Powell. She vanished from her on December 6, 2009, without a trace.
As we have seen in others cases of women, wives and mothers who are murdered at the hands of those who profess to love them, the story the suspect, or the only person responsible, tells is always the same, each exhibiting a pattern of conduct weaved in deception that resulted in murder.
My skin crawls each time I hear someone, whom I believe is responsible for a victim of intimate partner homicide formulate information, as if they were pulling a rabbit out of a hat on the national stage to speak these lies as if it were actually the truth. Cowards each of them for murdering, in my opinion, women and mothers who wanted to simply end the abuse by ending the relationship and move on without these obsessive controlling individuals in their lives.
This past week Josh Powell and his father Steven Powell created another layer of lies about where Susan Powell is and, possibly with whom, during an interview on the NBC Today show. Let us remove any doubt, Susan Powell is no longer alive. It is now up to us the public to help her parents and the children of Susan Powell to keep this case alive and in the public eye until such time as her remains are located or the person(s) responsible are arrested for her murder. I never thought Josh Powell acted alone, now I am convinced of it.
Both Josh and his father spoke out in November claiming Susan Powell just up and left with another man, I wrote a 3 part series (linked below) on the interview they gave to the Salt Lake City Tribune. The series was based on facts not disclosed in the pending investigation and the knowledge gleaned from not only a couple decades of working on intimate partner violence cases, but being a child once myself in a war torn environment between a husband and a wife no different then Susan Powell and her own children. You learn to see what others looking from the outside cannot. You learn as if the abuser is an enemy from another county and for your own survival you study and disarm the danger that lives in your home as if it were a permanent member of the family. If you are fortunate to be one less casualty as I was in 1989, on the crime scene that would forever alter your life; you do something about it, if you can, so that another child does not have to witness another drop of blood shed all in the name of power, control and, ultimately, murder.
Let's stop giving national media time to the abusers and more media attention to those who have vanished, they are not here to talk-no different than when they were alive.
Let's make 2011 the year we implement comprehensive safety systems such as the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and video making it available in courthouses, schools, shelters, communities and churches.
If Susan Powell had been aware of the steps to take before she vanished, while she was preparing to leave her abusive husband, either she would still be alive or Josh Powell, in my opinion, would be charged with her murder because of the evidence she would have prepared and left behind.

I believe that perhaps the father wants to believe his son is innocent. I read all of your breakdowns and you did a really good job on all of them. I hope her body is found soon. I hope there's evidence that nails her murderous husband.
So if what they're saying is lies, that must mean you know the truth? Ah, right, I didn't think so. I guess it makes sense to assume the male is guilty despite the fact that there is nothing but hearsay available as evidence.
I'd also like to know how you dispose of a body in a blinding snow storm. A lot of people don't believe he went camping due to a blinding snow storm at the time, but then want to believe he disposed of her body in a mine. Seriously? How to you lug 100+ lbs of dead weight in a blinding snowstorm, find a mineshaft without falling in yourself, and then find your way back to your car?
Stop profiting off other people's misery. That is all you're doing. You're basically full of shit.
From what I have read, the father is a complete psychopath. He created the monster that Josh is. Fortunately he's the only one who believes his bs stories which are truly pathetic and completely absurd. He also seems to troll the internet commenting on sites like this...hmmm...anonymous or daddy dearest? You have their number and they don't like it. Soon I hope LE has their number too and both suffer for their crimes. Poor Susan, caught in the web of this psychotic family, failed to get away in time. At some point someone really needs to rescue those children. It shouldn't be that hard to prove that Daddy Powell is a danger and no children should be around him.
Wow-this is my first time reading some of this info and it screams guilt and murder. I also visited the Powell's rumor spreading site that they claim has the 'real' story and it is ridiculously contradictory and pretty much a joke. Although not a very funny one considering the damage they are doing to these boys who they continue to encourage to draw pictures and send messages in efforts to lure Mommy home...she's dead and they are sick for messing with these children's minds, making them think that anything they do could bring their murdered mother back. I hope weather they find her remains or not that charges are filed against Josh...it's a circumstantial case but convictions have been won with less.
