Drew Peterson Trial and the Sidebar on Google?

Last week Drew Peterson's ever expanding circus act filed 9 motions before the upcoming trial scheduled for the 14th of June. Nice move by the defense team, I will give them that much, but, I am reminded of another trial in California 6 years ago, also in June headed by famed defense attorney, Mark Geragos. Maybe the Drew Peterson defense team is quietly holding weekly phone conferences with Geragos on the motions filed by my favorite legal "Marshmallow Roaster"as they appear eerily similar.

You remember Mark Geragos, he represented Scott Peterson. This Peterson (no relation to Drew except for their ability, in my opinion, to make women vanish) went to trial for the murder of Laci Peterson  in 2002, after she went missing while seven and a half months pregnant with her first child. Laci was reportedly last seen alive on December 24, 2002. Peterson's defense was based around the lack of direct evidence, and defusing the circumstantial evidence, and a hell of a lot of useless motions and paper legal shuffling. The evidence against Peterson was largely circumstantial. On November 12 , 2004, a jury convicted Scott Peterson of first-degree murder with special circumstances for killing Laci and second-degree murder for killing his unborn son.

The prosecutor prevailed and Scott Peterson is now sitting his pathetic behind on death row.

The motions filed under "seal" by the Drew Peterson team is nothing more than a way to buy time. Reminds me of too many cooks in a kitchen spoiling the soup.

There is an upside to this defense circus, each one of the team members will have their name in "Internet lights" so to speak, searched by Google with rapid speed. My favorite legal roaster will likely have his own page, hopefully minus the advertisement for the not so famous take out chicken wings, with his client's name at the top :"Drew Peterson Trial." Along the sidebar of the page will be a listing of trial documents, evidence, case summary, and each defense attorney on the team will have their name displayed in bright colorful fonts.
Looking at the Scott Peterson trial should give us a bit of hope that Will County Prosecutor James Glascow will also prevail and get a conviction. After all, he is not representing one victim, but many.

"Arresting Developments"

In North Carolina Prosecutors announced they will be seeking the death penalty for the murder of Kelly Currin Morris, 28, the mother who vanished without a trace from her home in September of 2008.

In November of 2009, police recovered Kelly's remains and her husband was immediately arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Meanwhile the remains of Bolingbrook, IL, mom Stacy Peterson who would have turned 26 years old yesterday has yet to be found. Friends and family continue to look for the mother and wife of former police Sgt. Drew Peterson. Today court continues while a Will County Judge is holding hearings and decides whether or not the hearsay evidence will be allowed in the trial for the murder of wife #3 Kathleen Savio for which Peterson was arrested and charged last May.

It seems my favorite legal marshmallow roaster was outside of the Illinois courthouse doing a public relations stunt by handing out pens with his name emblazoned on them.

What’s next, boxes of free chicken wings printed with the name and address of the law firm?

Rejection Ends in Murder?

After ending her marriage three years ago to what sources indicate was a violent and abusive relationship Melissa Bridgewater moved on with her life.

Over this past Christmas Melissa received a present from her ex-husband. He was offering a peace gesture in hopes the couple would get back together.

When she would not accept the gift, it only added fuel to his rage. Like so many of these "cowardly lions" who feel as though a dagger has been thrown at their non-existent feelings Jerry Hudson was going to get back at his ex-wife once and for all.

After a night of celebration of ringing in the New Year at the Doubletree Hotel in Oakbrook, IL, her cell phone rang and allegedly it was Jerry Hudson on the other end interrogating Melissa demanding to know who was there with her. Hudson then "lured her out to the parking lot on a ruse that he was actually at her home in Bolingbrook" and destroying her property, according to the State's Attorney's Office.

As she tried to leave the hotel parking lot Melissa struck by another car and boxed in and greeted with a blaze of gunfire. She was shot a total of 5 times. Police say Jerry Hudson was in a rented car and his image was captured in a photo as he went through a toll booth shortly after the shooting.

Police obtained a search warrant for Hudson's residence. They located a note.

"She used me for 20 years I don't need to suffer anymore"

The note police found alleged Hudson planned to kill her and then commit suicide:

"She Has Taken My Manhood."

On Tuesday, with his attorney, Hudson turned himself into police. In a statement made by his lawyer he said "the note doesn't mean Hudson killed his former wife." And goes on to say he cared for her deeply and that a note doesn't prove anything."

A violent abuser will stop at nothing to have control one last time. Melissa Bridgewater was reacting because Hudson said he was calling from inside her home and destroying it. Her immediate response got her killed.

In my opinion, Melissa should have contacted police and asked that a car be sent to the home and had a police report filed on the incident. Then she should have remained in the hotel room until she was absolutely certain of her ex-husbands location. But, like so many victims whom fall prey to these cowards words, she had the sense of feeling safe and secure. Like my mother often remarked, "I am free from him and I don't have to be afraid anymore." My mother's new residence is the same as Melissa Bridgewater's, the cemetary!

"Fire Starter"

Today, my colleague Delilah from the Internet sites Peace4Missing, Mothers are Vanishing and Time's Up discussed how one case in particular fueled awareness and change. That case is Stacy Peterson. All rolled into one here is a case where the person has vanished, she was married to someone in law enforcement, domestic violence was a constant theme, connected a prior wife of Peterson's whom was found dead in a bathtub, a crime scene compromised and a grand jury investigation swayed towards the side of politics by a former questionable State's Attorney whom took an oath of office and buried the truth for any hope of justice in the very soil with it's victim Kathleen Savio.

In outrage over Stacy's apparent murder, sites all over Internet were born. Peace4Missing came out of a need to do more for victims and their families, Where is Stacy, Jurorthirteen, Justice Interrupted, Mothers Are Vanishing, Peterson Story, Levi Page Show on Blog talk radio, Time's Up, Justice Cafe, LostNMissing, Murphy Milano's Journal, We Want Her Found, other sites such as Behind The Blue Wall and a Candy Rose that built an amazing time-line on the entire case.

The cable network shows such as Nancy Grace, Greta, Geraldo, Larry King, Jane Valdez-Mitchell, Dana Pretzer's Scared Monkeys radio, MSNBC and others who in discussing this case brought the issue and its' victims of murder and family violence into the homes of millions of American's.

The books written by reporter Joe Hosey "Fatal Vows"and Stacy Dittrich "Murder Behind the Badge." And the upcomming book "Time's Up" was fueled and written so that victims of violence would have a fighting chance to stay alive while leaving their abusers, to be released in 2010, because of the Stacy Peterson case.

The blogs and social networking sites too many to name written by such sites as the Coalition of Crime Bloggers, Help Find The Missing, Websleuths , Women In Crime Ink.

The Illinois Hearsay law was enacted after Stacy's disappearance.

Thousands of people most whom I have never met, have changed the lives of so many others, all because of one woman, Stacy Peterson.

Think of her someplace directing traffic if you will, from the heavens. She is not sitting on some beach roasting marshmallows or eating dryed out chicken wings. Stacy's voice is finallly being heard and the world is listening.

New Meaning For Cop "Till Death Do Us Part"

"
Stacy Ann Peterson has been missing since October 28, 2007. This week marks her tragic disappearance. Friends and Family need the public's help as they continue to search for Stacy.

On the blog this week we will feature some past posts written on the case. The first is a post from October 29, 2007. It is also prior to Peterson lawyering up with my favorite "legal marshmallow roaster, from the law firm also known for their chicken wings and thighs defense. Or is it hot dogs and hamburgers?

Back in 2004, officer Petersons wife was found dead in a bath tub and for some reason the coroner ruled that death as accidential. And from the reports at the time there was not enough evidence to prove otherwise. And now, there is yet another wife missing .

Apparently, not a peep from our cowardly man, her officer husband on where his wife could be.
"Because he's one of our officers, we thought it would be better to have an independent agency investigating," Mayor Roger Claar said of the state's involvement in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.

In my opinion, do I believe he is capable of harming Stacy? Absolutely!

RELATED STORY (From the Chicago Sun-Times and reporter Joe Hosey)
It was not clear how long Peterson, the wife of Sgt. Drew Peterson, has been missing. State Trooper Mark Dorencz at first declined to comment on the matter but later said the state is handling the case as a missing persons investigation.

The Bolingbrook department said Peterson was not scheduled to work Monday. A message left for him at the department went unreturned.

Peterson's previous wife, 40-year-old Kathleen Savio, was found dead in the dry bathtub of her Pheasant Chase home in March 2004. Peterson and Savio were divorced and he was returning their two sons to their home after a weekend visit, but no one answered the locked door.
Peterson went to a neighbor's to call a locksmith. Once entry was gained, the neighbor went inside and found Savio's body in a waterless bathtub.

The investigation revealed Savio drowned. Her fingertips showed pruning from being submerged in water and her hair was wet when she was found. While there was no water in the bathtub, it may have drained out over time, as the plug was down, investigators speculated.
A coroner's jury ruled the death accidental. State police investigated that case as well. No charges were filed.

According to one official, Savio was Peterson's third wife, and Stacey Peterson is his fourth.
Charges, reinstatementMore than 20 years ago, Peterson was fired from the police department after the village board of police and fire commissioners found him guilty of disobedience, conducting a self-assigned investigation, failure to report a bribe immediately and official misconduct. He had been indicted two months earlier on charges of official misconduct and failure to report a bribe. Peterson was working under the auspices of the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad at the time. Indictments alleged he solicited drugs in exchange for information about his agency.

The charges later were dropped. Special prosecutor Raymond Bolden said at the time that the charges were not provable.

Peterson won reinstatement with the department in March 1986. Judge Edwin Grabiec ruled police and fire commissioners lacked sufficient evidence to find Peterson guilty of the charges.

Drew Peterson's latest "Hemorrhodial Discharge"

For several weeks news surfaced that former ex-wife Vicki Connolly (once married to Drew Peterson) and step-daughter Lisa Ward had planned to write a book about the former Bolingbrook Sergeant now behind bars for allegedly murdering wife #3 Kathleen Savio. Officially, the announcement was made by Lisa Ward on ABC’s Good Morning America program.

Similar to a “hemorrihodial discharge” the legal team representing Peterson quickly had their media dispatchers issue a press release pertaining to the “private correspondence” that my favorite legal marshmallow roaster sent to Connolly, Ward and USA Today Journalist and Co-author, Michelle LeFort. Detailed information and news on the entire Peterson case(s) can be found over at Justice Café.

The press release included the demands likely sent via certified letter to all 3 women-below is a synopsis:

"As I assume that Ms. Ward and Ms. Connolly are not aware, Ms. Michelle LeFort had entered into a written contract to collaborate and co-write a book about the life story of Drew Peterson from Mr. Peterson’s perspective in February of 2008. Ms. LeFort breached her agreement and then withdrew from this collaboration agreement in March of 2008. In withdrawing from the collaboration agreement, Ms. LeFort agreed that any work she did concerning the life story of Drew Peterson belonged to her collaborating author, who still owns those rights."Therefore if such a book is written, shown, marketed, or published, this office will pursue vigorous legal action to protect and enforce our clients rights."We demand that Ms. Ward and Ms. Connolly cease and desist from working with Ms. LeFort regarding any part of the life story of Drew Peterson, and we further demand that Ms. LeFort cease and desist from any project which concerns the life story of Drew Peterson."
The letter concludes with “Ms. Ward and Ms. Connolly are absolutely free to tell their story, just not with Ms. LeFort as the author.”

The first question I have is why release this in the first place? The correspondence was obviously private and if the Co-Author is in some type of contractual dispute the lawyers can either work it out or file suit in a court of law before a judge, not the public.

Given the alleged abuse that step-daughter Lisa Ward endured, she, like so many others, are often silenced and paralyzed for years after being victimized. It's no surprise to me, as a former police officers daughter growing up in a violent household and working with thousands of abuse cases for more than 20 years, that she would wait until now to talk.

Think about it for a moment. Drew Peterson has been a free man since Kathleen Savio’s death. It would be 18 months and a lot of chicken wings later, before the Will County State’s Attorney’s office received an indictment from a grand jury to charge Peterson. In May of 2009 he is charged and arrested for Kathleen’s murder. If I am a victim I would immediately think that the person who allegedly harmed me is going to make bail and be released back out onto to the streets. So I would wait a bit as many victims have to be sure that the individual cannot harm them before they attempt to come forward.

Years ago I was involved in a case where a woman by the name of Gail McGrew was shot 5 times in the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago and survived. Little did we know while she was recovering that the offender had committed murder 5 years prior in the State of Ohio. He escaped during extradition, changed his name and moved to Chicago and met Gail a couple years later. Gail believed because he escaped before he could do it again. Fearing for her life and living with permanent disability after the shooting she felt if he came after her she would not be able to get away, again. I know this sounds crazy but in a clever move she married him just long enough to be sure that he would be behind bars forever. When she knew for certain that he would never escape again, she divorced him.

In my opinion, Lisa Ward and her mother remained silent until it was safe for them to come forward. Stacy Peterson and Kathleen Savio will never have that opportunity. But, if this continues to keep Stacy and Kathleen in the news then those who attempt to discredit and try every voice that comes forward, I say Bravo!

A Walk For A Life Lost!

This October it will be 2 years since the 23 year old mother of two, Stacy Peterson vanished. While friends and family continue to look for her remains there are others out there alive whom desperately need our assistance. Funds are being cut for children, legal and shelter services for woman across the country. Agencies whom provide these vital and life saving services now depend on every penny to help its' victims.

Last week on The Susan Murphy Milano show we had as a guest Amy Leichtenberg. She is the mother of Duncan and Jack whom were assassinated last year by their father while on an unsupervised visatation. Allowed by our court system to slaughter innocent children. On the show Amy talked about what got her through the court system while her children were still alive she said it was the programs provided by the agency in her area. She talked about the counseling for her and the therapy and children's programs for her kids. "They looked forward to going each week and healing."

Whether you live in Kansas or California we all saw the news coverage for some 18 months before my least favorite cowardly"dickless wonder" was arrested for the murder of Kathleen Savio. I realize we cannot bring these women or their children back among the living, but, we can take action and support services that are providing a life line for victims of violence and their children.

We all watched the news coverage on MSNBC, Fox News, ABC, NBC, CNN, HLN, our local stations as they brought the horrific plight of two women's lives across our television and Internet screens Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson as their abuser strutted on screen saying "Stacy took off with $25,000 and a red bikini or she left with another man."

We need to send a message of hope to the surviving children of Stacy Peterson whom will never see their mother again by either participating in the event below or making a monetary contribution in honor of Stacy Ann Peterson. The information is below, please a moment to donate whatever you can.

According to "Legal Roaster" Cops Held at Higher Standard?

Earlier this week a judge denied bond for the former Georgia Police Sgt.Sam Parker charged in the murder of his wife Theresa Parker whose body has not been found.

Theresa Parker vanished in March of 2007. And the couple were finalizing their divorce. So the former officer will remain in jail. A trial date has not been set.

And what about Georgia Sheriff Derrick Yancey from Atlanta who paid the $150,000 cash bond after being charged with the murders of his wife Linda Yancey also a police officer and a day laborer. They put him on a home monitoring device. Tweleve hours later it was discovered that he escaped and has been on the run for 7 weeks. Anyone with information on Derrick Yancey's whereabouts could go to the http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=64701 Web site, or call 1-800-CRIME-TV.

Then their is Drew Peterson charged with the murder of wife #3 Kathleen Savio who sits in a Will County jail awaiting another hearing on Thursday, May 21, 2009. Apparently my favorite legal marshmallow roaster made a comment on one of the talk shows claiming "cops are held to a tougher standard in domestic violence claims against them." What planet has he been practicing law? "Abusers R US?"

Fact is law enforcement officers are not held to any such standard as it relates to police perpetrated crimes in the home. For more on the subject go to part 2 of the Drew Peterson series with myself and Robin Sax over at Women In Crime Ink.

Lights, Camera, Action, Murder?

People magazine is again featuring Drew Peterson and his current relationship Christina Raines in their March 26, 2009 issue. The first time Peterson was on the cover he was in uniform just a few short months after Stacy Peterson vanished.

I have written over one hundred blogs on this endless media circus because each day Drew Peterson walks among us as a free man is a reminder to me Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson did not have the same opportunity. And when magazine and televisions shows feature (in my opinion) this abusing murdering walking talking criminal silently slapping his deceased wives in their faces as though their lives meant nothing. As they [the publishers] laugh all the way to bank selling magazines featuring a man and his current love interest as though they are celebrities.

I take personal interest in cases where justice has clearly been interrupted. I am not a cop, attorney or social worker. I am a former business woman turned advocate and author when my own world was rocked, abruptly turned inside out by my father a Chicago Violent crimes detective, after years of abuse murdered my mother in cold blood, before committing suicide.

Drew Peterson has joined a growing number of men who have yet to be charged in their wives murders.

It is evident from the people magazine article society has become immune in cases where men murder in cold blood for the sake of financial gain and we place them on a throne of power.

If you really have to buy the magazine this week, I suggest your money is better spent on finding a food pantry in your area and dropping off a bag of groceries in memory of Stacy Peterson and Kathleen Savio.

Nearly Sixty percent of battered women, who unlike Kathleen and Stacy were able to escape their violent abuser’s are now among the homeless in this country.

Battered women who are homeless would rather struggle to be free from the violence, then to live with the daily uncertainty of dying at the hands of any person who steels their freedom and threatens their very existence.

Mother's day in just around the corner. In memory of these two courageous women who struggled to escape, please send donations to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence or a food pantry in your area.

Drew Peterson "I Didn't Care Then, I Don't Care Now"

"Eighteen months said Drew Peterson, I didn't care then and I don't care now" [refering to Thomas Morphey and the immunity deal with the State's Attorney moving a body in a blue barrel]

With microphones shoved in Drew's direction. News reporters asked questions in the driveway of Stacy Peterson's home. I think her name is still on the title of to the house?

Oh wait, I am confusing this with the recently signed car title to live-in bed warmer Christina Raines. Can he do that? Was the title of the car driven and owned by Stacy in Drew Peterson's name? Or did he go ahead and sign Stacy's name anyway to the car title? You know he's good at signing people's names to documents living or deceased.

Take Kathleen's Will as an example. Yes,another media event, as Drew Peterson's legal marshmallow roaster take's the issue of Kathleens estate, all the way to the supreme court.
Send that man a bag of campfire marshmallows. Because that's the only thing that will stick to the bottom of his shoe's after he is turned down at the supreme court on Kathleen Savio's Will.

Martin Glink, one of the attorneys representing the Kathleeen Savio’s family, did not consider Brodsky’s appeal to the Supreme Court to be much of a threat to his case.
I would doubt very much the Supreme Court would find this novel enough to hear,” Glink said.“I don’t think it raises any conflict among the judicial circuits,” he said. “I think what the appellate court did and what Judge Goodman did was correct.”

Come to think of it, the bed in Drew Peterson's home belonged to Kathleen Savio, wife #3. After her death, on the day of Kathleen's funeral Drew had a moving truck and hauled everything inside the home a few blocks away to his new home he bought with his current wife Stacy Peterson. The bed was moved into Stacy and Drew's master bedroom.

But, wait, I keep forgetting the same bed occupied by wives #3 and #4 is now occupied by Christina and Drew. I hope at least Drew shelled out money for a new matress.

Now the trick is for Drew to declare in a court of Stacy abandoned him. You remember Drew said she's not comming back and he wants to get married. How would he know for certain Stacy is not returning?

Unless, wait a minute. Thomas Morphey is telling the truth!

Could it be? Thomas Morphey is not as crazy as Drew and "The Legal Marshmallow Roaster" would have us all believe and a body was carried down those stairs.

Stacy Peterson's Billboard

The Photo was taken by the Adminstrator of a blog as it relates to the Drew Peterson case.

In Bolingbrook Illinois off a very busy ramp, with perfect placement is a digital billboard which has been up for almost 2 weeks.

Any news or information that continues to keep this case generating in the media and on the Internet is important.

To date, Drew Peterson continues to walk among us, a free man. But according to Joe Hosey, reporter and author of Fatal Vows his days could be numbered. To read the lastest on the case go to the Peterson Story site, HERE.

Again, any press highlighting the murder(s) of Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson or the fact that Peterson is a self appointed dickless wonder whom women find attractive written in this weekends Chicago Sunday Sun-Times by Mark Brown.
This is another reminder, Drew Peterson in my opinion is still breathing. His last 2 wives are not!

Sugar and Spice Makes Me Shout Twice!

Drew Peterson continue's his media performance. Adding new circus performers to his caravan. No surprise , he has served a platter of burnt toast, coffee and murder for approximately fourteen months.

The media including the WLS AM Radio show Cassidy and Mancow have continued to use Peterson and his on again, off again relationship as some form of entertainment. Inviting him on the show. Taking him out on the town to dinner. I wonder what Mancow & Cassidy both family men would do if it were their daughter Peterson was dating? To Listen go here.

What those who find this so entertaining do is give this bozo air wave time promoting victimization to those who fell prey, Kathleen Savio, Stacy Peterson . Peterson has yet to be arrested because the Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow is unable to secure enough evidence in either case. A word of advice to the current State's Attorney of Will County, mop these cases up, first, before you run for another office!

By now, the only girlfriend in Peterson's life should be bubba as he hands Peterson his bar of soap in a prison cell.

And we must not forget the interview on lucky Friday the 13th as Peterson and Christina Raines served yet another platter of burnt breakfast of a new life from the very house where Stacy Peterson vanished and her name remains on the title at the recorder of deeds.

If you missed it, the Savio family won the right to re-open Kathleens estate. Here is the decision by the appellate court.
