Illuminations: In the Eyes of a Child, Allison West
Brief Program Description: The acclaimed artwork of a male victim of child sexual abuse provides the context for this multifaceted workshop and discussion. Through an intense and comprehensive exploration of the experience and aftermath of child victimization attending professionals will achieve new and enhanced understanding of victimization and their engagement with it. This will create the context for enhanced personal and professional skills. Non-professionals who attend this workshop be prepared for a significant level of intensity.
Police, Parents, Profilers: Investigate Criminal Profile, Pat Brown
Pat Brown is a nationally known criminal profiler, television commentator, author, and founder and CEO of The Sexual Homicide Exchange and The Pat Brown Criminal Profiling Agency. Pat has provided crime commentary and profiling and forensic analysis in over one thousand television and radio appearances in the United States and across the globe. She can be seen regularly on the cable television news programs, CNN, MSNBC and FOX, and is a frequent guest of the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, Larry King, Inside Edition, Nancy Grace, Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell, Joy Behar, and America’s Most Wanted.
Intimate Partner Violence: ”My Loved One is Missing”, Susan Murphy Milano
Susan Murphy-Milano is a non-fiction author and violence expert and a defender of victim’s rights. In 1989, after the murder of her mother by her father, a Chicago violent crimes detective, she vowed to change the way intimate partner crimes and homicides are handled and investigated. She is host of the national radio show, ”Time’s Up!” which addresses real-life unsolved and missing person’s cases featuring family members searching for justice. Susan has appeared on numerous shows including Oprah, 20/20, American Justice, A & E, Sunday Today, E True Hollywood, A & E Biography, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN. As a nationally recognized women’s advocate, Susan was instrumental in the passage of the Illinois Stalking Law and the Lautenberg Act.
Psychics & Missing Persons: Help or Hindrance?, Kelly Jolkowski and Robert Cooke
Robert Cooke and Kelly Jolkowski each have a missing child, have researched and have personal experience with persons making this claim. They’ll share their stories as well as accounts from other families who have worked with psychics.

Deputy David C. Desso, Project Life Saver – New Hanover County Sheriff Office
Deputy David Desso has spent the past three years with the New Hanover County Sherrif’s Department. Prior to joining, he was with the UNC-Wilmington police department for a year, and was with the Somer, CT police department for thirty-three years. Deputy Desso enjoys working with Project Life Saver because it allows him to work at risk youth, and the elderly.
Jane Bradley, Author of “YOU Believers”
Jane Bradley’s latest novel, You Believers, is based on the true story of Peggy Carr who went missing in Wilmington, NC, and on the ensuing seven-month search for her led by Monica Caison and CUE. It is a cathartic story of casual evil and of how the worst things can be faced so that we might not only survive, but grow. Bradley is the author of two acclaimed story collections, one of which, Power Lines, was cited as a “Notable Book” by the New York Times Book Review. She’s also written a novella and a screenwriting text. She has won numerous awards for her work, including an NEA Individual Artists Fellowship and an Ohio Arts Council Fellowship. Originally from Chattanooga, she currently is a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Toledo.
