Remaining neutral in cases where a law enforcement officer's wife is murdered under suspicious circumstances is often difficult.
A Georgia Deputy Sheriff arrives home early one afternoon to his very own crime nightmare.
His wife Linda Yancey, dead. According to the Deputy, it was an intruder.
I am not trying to single out this particular tragedy. Rather I am using it as an example into these similar types of crimes with a law enforcement officer's home.
Reports indicate the deputy killed the man. When emergency crews arrived they found a man and a woman murdered.
In any murder investigation, the truth is not always so simple. Especially, when both people involved in the crime cannot talk. Sometimes during an investigation when it involve's a law enforcement officer and their spouse, chances are the truth is likely reinvented.
It is important when the investigation spotlights a fellow "brother of the badge", proper procedures are carried out. Perhaps the DeKalb County Prosecutors Office can step up this investigation and involve the Detective's who investigated the death of Atlanta Police Sgt. George Parker's wife, Theresa Parker.
My strong opinion in all officer related crimes, an outside source must be brought in and investigate the tragedy. Not the same or neighboring police department with whom an officer has established a history, relationship and "silent code".

DeKalb County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man in his Stone Mountain home Monday after the deputy said the man shot and killed his wife, DeKalb police said.
The deputy was not immediately identified, nor were the victims.
Police received a 911 emergency call at 1:10 p.m. that there were two victims at the home at 5515 Mountain View Pass.
Derrick A. Yancey and Linda A. Yancey are listed as co-owners of the home where the shooting occurred, according to
DeKalb County Tax Assessor records. They have owned the four-bedroom home since 1998.
Mekka Parish, public information officer for the DeKalb police department, said the deputy told investigators that the man shot and killed his wife, forcing him to kill the man.
"At this point, it is unclear if the man (the deputy) or the woman knew this unknown man," Parish said. "We are trying to ascertain two questions. Why was this man inside the home, and what are the details of what transpired?"

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Two bodies have been discovered at a sheriff deputy’s home on Mountain View Pass in DeKalb County.
Police said an off-duty DeKalb County sheriff's deputy was home when he said a stranger entered his home and killed his wife, forcing the officer to shoot and kill the stranger.
DeKalb County police said they are trying to determine a motive and put all the pieces together. Like them, everyone in the neighborhood wants to know what happened inside the Stone Mountain home.
VIDEO: Two Bodies Found At Sheriff Deputy's Home "Once our officers arrived, they did find two people deceased inside, a male and a female," said DeKalb County police spokesperson Mekka Parrish. "According to the homeowner, an unknown man shot and killed his wife and he was then forced to shoot that unknown man inside his home."
Family members could be seen trying to console each other and had very little to say. "We have no comments, none at all. We don't know what's going on at all," said one woman on the scene.
Both DeKalb County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were on the scene.
Names have not yet been released.
