Kalisha Madden: Endangered & Missing in Detroit

Kalisha Madden, has been missing since the early morning hours of Nov. 28,2011

She was last seen leaving her job at the Sting Gentlemen’s Club in the southwest section of Detroit around 3 a.m. last Monday. Witnesses say Madden left the club with three men in a black SUV or car. Since then, family and friends have been distributing fliers in neighborhoods throughout Detroit and urging people to post information about Madden on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

There is a great power within our communities to spread the word on those who "suddenly" vanish without a trace. Someone saw something last Monday and with every hour that passes the hope she will be found alive diminishes. And hope, is what her family is praying for until she is found.

I have to also wonder if there were security camera's inside the club. Perhaps the witnesses who saw her leave would be able to identify them on footage captured inside or out of the club's parking lot. Depending on the route taken upon leaving the club, did the black vehicle stop someplace for gas or at a convenience store? These places also have security camera's.

Tragically, Kalisha Madden disappearance will not be mentioned on any of the nightly news or on programs like Nancy Grace or Bill O'Reilly. Why? It is not enough of a ratings opportunity for the networks. Fair and balanced coverage often depends on where you live, what you look like and sadly, the color of your skin.

If she is still alive, Kalisha is likely being held against her will either in Detroit or someplace within a 200 mile radius. She, like any missing person deserves our attention. Please post this information on sites, at your church, community centers, hospitals, grocery store bulletin boards, gas stations, and in your community. Below you can cut and paste the information below.

Anyone with information on Kalisha Madden’s whereabouts should contact Detroit police at (313) 596-1000 or Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK UP. People can also leave anonymous tips at Black and Missing Foundation Inc.’s website,www.bamfi.org.

New Handbook: "How To Get Away With The Ultimate Murder"?

Another woman vanishes. This time the young mother of 2 children, ages 3 and 5, while walking to the mailbox in front of her parents home, still in her pajamas, is abducted.

Venus Stewart has been missing since the morning of April 26, 2010. If you have learned anything from this site it is that I do not jump to conclusions. There are many cases of missing women and those found murdered that you do not see written about here because of various information I am unable to obtain about the case at the time. And sticking my neck out without the facts or restricted information is not healthy to the victims nor their families. But, bringing their case,s whenever possible, to the public's attention and those who are in a relationship with an abusive person is the very least we can each do in hopes of preventing another tragedy.

My work and expertise is based soley on 20 years with these cases of intimate partner violence, police officer abuse within the home, stalking, domestic violence and homicide.

The case of missing Venus Stewart has many scratching their heads, with the exception of law enforcement and few others, myself included. The estranged husband was in another state and by car he would have had to drive 13 hours there (maybe he rented a car or borrowed one) and 13 hours back by the time police questioned him after Venus was abducted.

Lets get out my note book on this case-
Fact: the couple was going through a divorce;
Fact: the couple was going through a major custody battle;
Fact: Venus moved out of the marital residence in Virgina and into her parents home in Michigan;
Fact: The couple had 2 children;
Fact: Vensus Stewart had obtained numerous police reports;
Fact: Vensus Stewart had obtained a minimum of 2 orders of protection from a judge;
Fact: She told friends and family she was in fear for her life from this man;
Fact: According to Venus and in court orders of protection she informed the courts her life was in danger.

It is possible that someone was hired by the estranged husband the day Vensus was abducted. This reminds me of another recent case where the person of interest was in another location, a casino, gambling, at the time of the murders. Allegedly, a month before the shooting, Johnny Borizov hired his best friend, Jacob Nodarse to kill Angela and her parents. The evening of the shooting, Borizov was at a Joliet casino, captured on casino video, which he could conveniently claim as an air-tight alibi. According to sealed DuPage County court documents, Angela and Borizov had been scheduled to appear at a hearing a week after the killings. To read the case go here.

Police are looking for a man, in the Venus Stewart disappearance, who people in the rural town saw hanging around the day before and thought it was suspicious. And police have issued a sketch of the man. Could this person have been hired by the estranged husband to help the day Venus was abducted? At this point, no one seems to know that answer.

Now, if I am an angry abuser, not wanting the person with whom I am in a realtionship with to leave, and I have a violent temper, I am going to boil over like hot liquid on a stove. And, as an abuser, I have a lot of time to think out a plan of action. I am going to threaten the person where no one else can hear me. I will make a victim's life unbearable in mediation meetings with mental health evaluators, while sitting dressed neatly and showing the world what a wonderful person I am. The moment the session is over I will shoot those looks of "now you did it" and "you are going to pay for this." Next, as custody is being determined, as an abuser I am outraged and say to myself, "she is not getting away with this alive."

I then, as the abuser, figure out where to get that "handbook" available to members only in an e-book format that the recently formed "secret society of abusers" are all reading titled, "How to Get Away With the Ultimate Murder," author unknown.

For some abusers, in my expert opinion, the "handbook" has worked in cases where the victim has vanished without a trace. There must be a chapter in the "handbook" on how to correctly lawyer up, as you will notice each "person of interest" no longer cooperates with authorities, often hiring a fairly skilled defense attorney, almost immediately. The legal hired gun acts as the shield or the mouth piece for the only person, once again in my expert opinion, behind the vanishing act of their loved one.

Isn't it rather strange that the victim is often the mother of their children, estranged wife or former girlfriend. And, more often than not, they are going thru a divorce or custody battle. And, yes, I need to mention that a person is innocent until proven guilty.

Every single one of these cases has a common theme, the person has been erased from the planet. And a common theme does not make one guilty of the crime. But, it is highly unusual that the person with whom the relationship has ended does not have a motive. The facts, although circumstantial, do carry a lot of weight, but, often not enough for a grand jury indictment unless you have a body.

So, I offer the following suggestions to law enforcement in this case where the "handbook" has obviously been downloaded:

  • First obtain a search warrant for all computers both business, personal, close friends and perhaps those of a relative, too.
  • Gas receipts, credit cards used within that time period must be gathered.
  • Unusual purchases at hardware and drugstores.
  • Where was the person 72 hours prior to the abduction? Were they at work? Did they call in sick?
  • Bank withdrawals within a two week period prior to her being taken.
  • Cell phone activity needs to be captured between the time of the abduction and the following 36 hours after the abduction.

I will close with the words I copied today from a post at  Websleuths  following this case:

"I think that many women who've had an abusive spouse in their past may somewhat identify with Venus. She left her abuser, did what was RIGHT, and yet she's currently missing and her abuser is the only named person of interest in the case.
I give Venus kudos for, against all odds, leaving her abuser and getting her children out of that environment. There is no telling what her poor daughters have witnessed in the past. Worse, it can't be as awful as what they're experiencing now and will in the future...everything that we know about spousal abuse has come to fruition in this case. And as a result, these two girls will probably grow up motherless, but at least knowing that their mother mustered the courage to get them out of an abusive situation, even though it cost her life."

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Michigan State Police White Pigeon Post at 269-483-7611 Rockford Regional Dispatch Center, 616-866-6666.

Ashley Ann Sullivan: Another Tragedy

Ashley obtained a court order of protection because her former boyfriend was violent from a Michigan court in December. Four days before Christmas Shaun Eric Haugen who had a no-contact order prohibiting any contact with Ashley from the court was re-arrested for violating the very judge's order that was 'suppose" to protect her on January 5, 2010.

On January 14, 2010, Haugen was released from jail, again. All authorties could do was warn Ashley this human trash was being released onto the streets. Just hours before the slaughter Shaun wrote one final entry on his face book page " Hey I need to say goodbye..hurt is too much to bear. " Within an hour after that final entry on Sunday morning, January 17, 2010, he broke into a home where Ashley Sullivan was living. He killed her and her step-father before turning the gun on himself.

Ashley Sullivan did everything in her power to keep this violent criminal away from her by filing police reports, having him arrested and obtaining a court order of protection.

How are women like Ashley suppose to be safe when another persons rage and control cannot be bound by a piece of worthless paper? Yes, in my opinion an order of protection will not prevent murder. And in many cases it will only enrage the abuser to beat, rape, hold hostage, torture and murder the person with whom has ended the relationship.
How did this man have access to weapons? Why didn't police obtain a search warrant and look for weapons in his home? Did he have a foid card for the weapon he used? Did others know he had guns? Did anyone think to place a GPS monitoring device on this bozo the first time he violated the court order?

We will likely never know because those who could speak have been forever silenced.

Family and friends have created a tribute to Ashley Ann Sullivan, age 25, on HERE on face book.

Charging Ahead or Failing to Charge

After a family discovers a crime scene or reports a loved missing in cases where the spouse or former boyfriend is the likely the individual responsible for the murder or vanishing act it often creates an additional burden on law enforcement to follow through and properly investigate the case as a possible homicide.

In the case of Kelly Currin Morris, the 28-year-old mother of two, missing since September 3, 2008, police located her remains in a heavily wooded area last week. William "Scott" Morris (the husband)has been charged with first-degree murder and for burning a dwelling, shared by the couple and their children. It was burned down the day after Kelly was reported missing. He is being held without bond and likely will remain where he belongs, behind bars.

The law enforcement community did a remarkable job, otherwise William Scott Morris would still be a free man as we have often seen in other cases. It is not easy to investigate a case involving "intimate homicide."

Renee Pagel Case Still Unsolved

Still unresolved, and frankly outrageous, is the unsolved murder of Renee Pagel ,found stabbed to death in her bed recovering from surgery, (after donating aa kidney to a complete stranger) just days away from her divorce being finalized. According to close friends and relatives the grade school teacher and a registered nurse told others she was in "fear for her life." A week before her murder she changed the beneficiary of her life insurance policy from her estranged husband to a close family friend.

Her estranged husband, Michael Pagel, is the only person who has not voluntarily cooperated with police, nor has he provided an alibi to police for the night of Renee's murder. He retains custody of the couple's children.

As many women say when they are married to an abusive spouse, "if something happens to me, make sure people know it was not an accident." And, yet, in Rockford, Michigan detectives assigned to the case, in "name only," appear to have dropped the ball and the case file is sitting in a drawer collecting spiders, cob webs and dust.

Are cases like this more difficult because they already have the body, it's not that important, and no one is around to put pressure on investigating and ultimately charge the person responsible?

I realize a good defense attorney would attempt to kick a case like this to the curb. There would be media and a lot of mud slinging. But, a seasoned prosecutor would be able to win such a case and get a conviction.

Isn't the prosecutor the one who represents justice for the victim?

"Cowardly Killer's Club"

This past Monday on the associated press wires from columbus township, Michigan beings like this:" If Phillip Parsons was having financial or other troubles, he didn't let on to his friend, Russ Whittaker, as they cut trees or talked about high school sports.

"Great people. Great people," according to a neighbor who knew the now slain family, while shaking his head in disbelief.." Then the article goes on to say "People can say whay they want he was good with the kids"

Please, somebody send me a case of vomit bags! That is what I feel like doing each time I read that a parent, spouse or estranged human being from a relationship that has ended or when a marriage is on the rocks. The story is about a tragedy of yet another family slaughtered. And an abuser's last act of control is to kill what they believe they own. Similar to owning a car, house or weapons.

Such a fantastic all around guy that he shots his wife Gina Parsons, 34, was shot multiple times and found in the couple's bed. Parson's son, Sean, and his wife's son, Andrew Davis, were each shot once and found in their bedrooms. The boys, both 14-year-old high school freshmen. And the wonderful husband and father then killed himself.

Then hours earlier not far from where Gina, Andrew and Sean were disovered in another town over, in the upscale Lakes of Milford subdivision in northwest Oakland County,Michigan police found the bodies of Joseph Peter Valentino II, 61 who killed himslef after murdering his wife, Lucille Champoux Valentino, 60.

When I read a sheriff's comment on both cases, I did not agree with his remarks:
"It would appear that, with the tough economic times, people are desperate and resorting to things such as this," said Macomb County Sheriff Mark A. Hackel. "It's an act of desperation."

In my opinion it is a premeditated act of cold, cowardly power and control. Tragedies can be spun in all different directions. But, the fact remains these cowardly killers had a choice to walk away regardless of what ever they may have been facing in their lives. Or they could have simply taken their own life. It is when they kill the wives and innocent children that defines them as the cowards they were while masquerading as "good loving individuals" on earth.
