Kalisha Madden: Endangered & Missing in Detroit

Kalisha Madden, has been missing since the early morning hours of Nov. 28,2011

She was last seen leaving her job at the Sting Gentlemen’s Club in the southwest section of Detroit around 3 a.m. last Monday. Witnesses say Madden left the club with three men in a black SUV or car. Since then, family and friends have been distributing fliers in neighborhoods throughout Detroit and urging people to post information about Madden on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

There is a great power within our communities to spread the word on those who "suddenly" vanish without a trace. Someone saw something last Monday and with every hour that passes the hope she will be found alive diminishes. And hope, is what her family is praying for until she is found.

I have to also wonder if there were security camera's inside the club. Perhaps the witnesses who saw her leave would be able to identify them on footage captured inside or out of the club's parking lot. Depending on the route taken upon leaving the club, did the black vehicle stop someplace for gas or at a convenience store? These places also have security camera's.

Tragically, Kalisha Madden disappearance will not be mentioned on any of the nightly news or on programs like Nancy Grace or Bill O'Reilly. Why? It is not enough of a ratings opportunity for the networks. Fair and balanced coverage often depends on where you live, what you look like and sadly, the color of your skin.

If she is still alive, Kalisha is likely being held against her will either in Detroit or someplace within a 200 mile radius. She, like any missing person deserves our attention. Please post this information on sites, at your church, community centers, hospitals, grocery store bulletin boards, gas stations, and in your community. Domestic Violence by Police Officers: "Zero Tolerance"

I checked the definition of "Zero Tolerance" before I began this article and it means "any policy that allows no exception."

Private law enforcement Web sites around the country and the Fraternal Order of Police are in an uproar over Pittsburg Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's decision to enforce the zero tolerance policy for domestic violence by police officers.

The case is over the firing of Former Sgt. Eugene Hlavac an 18-year veteran of the police force who back in December of 2009 lost his job for assaulting the mother of his child and former girlfriend. According to court documents, the former officer was in his police uniform and, in my opinion, likely wearing his police issued weapon and oh, should I mention he practically dislocated her jaw during the incident.

Former Officer Hlavac, had been charged with simple assault for slapping his former girlfriend was found not guilty earlier this week by a judge, based largely on the testimony of a lone witness, who said that Mr. Hlavac appeared to strike his former girlfriend in self-defense after she "started to beat on the officer," the judge said. The lone witness who lives across the street from Mr. Hlavac and saw the confrontation from her car parked outside, testified that Ms. Maughan "was in a rage" and "attacked" him, Judge Flaherty said. Mr. Hlavac struck her in what the wtiness described as "an instantaneous push-away," according to the judge. "She said she didn't believe he intended to hurt her, it was in a defensive mode," he said. The witness does not know Mr. Hlavac, nor did she know he was a police officer, the judge said. "She just seemed very credible," Judge Flaherty said. "She did not strike me as the kind of person who did not tell the truth."



Because the officer was found not guilty earlier this week his lawyer will meet with the arbitration board for a hearing in hopes of restoring the officer's job with full back pay. But, this is where the case, in my opinion, gets a little sticky. You know what I mean, like gum stuck at the bottom of a good pair of shoes and you just can't get it off.

The police depatrtment fired former officer Hlavac, not because of the criminal case, but because he broke police policies or rather the "zero tolerance" as per the departments code and failure to follow the law enforcement code of ethics.. Unless, maybe at the hearing the former officer gets "grandfather" " privileges because the policy went into a affect after he was sworn in and given his police commission. Now there is a healthy arugment for his defense attorney "policy immunity."

I also should point out that the city's burden of proof in arbitration is lower than a prosecutor's burden in a criminal case.

According to the newspaper, the Mayor was quoted as saying,"the verdict doesn't mean no wrong was done or that there won't be consequences." I love that word consequences especially when it pertains to the accountability of a sworn officer who abuses their position of authority.

Before I get a lot of nasty private emails from my fan club of defense attorneys and law enforcement officers, let me make it very clear; yes, there are two sides to every story. Yes, the officer was acquitted of all charges. But, in my opinion, he should not be allowed back on the police force.

Again, my opinion is based on far too many of these officer related domestic violence cases that I am involved with on a daily basis (most involve a tragedy after the fact). Chances are this was not the first incident between the former officer and his girlfriend. It is however likely this was the first reported and documented incident of violence. Victims involved with officers rarely proceed and press charges. Most involved with officers who are abusive are in fear for their lives and we read about them after the fact because they are afraid of being killed so they suffer in silence. Women like Charoltte Grahn, Kathleen Savio, Theresa Parker, Sonia Garcia, Sandy Silcox, Lori DeKleine, Jessie Raponi, Tera Chavez, Carli Dennis, Barbara Vanaman, Crystal Brame and Stacy Peterson to name only few allegedly killed by their abusive officer husbands.

Who knows, perhaps if other law enforcement agencies adopted a zero tolerance policy maybe fewer officers wives and girlfriends would not end up being visited by loved ones bringing flowers to their grave sites.

Cowardly Officer Murders Woman For Ending The Relationship

Antoinette Ross was a loving mother of three and a woman” who’d brighten the day of those around her, friends said she always kept a smile on her face.

On Friday that smile would be forever lost as the 34- year old's body was found Friday afternoon in a shallow grave behind the home of a Barry Moore a Chattahoochee police officer who was the father of a 3 year-old child, according Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.

About the same time investigators made the discovery, the officer, Barry Moore, shot himself in his front yard on Mount Pleasant Road. He was taken by helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he died later that afternoon.

Antoinette Ross mother of 3, died from a gunshot wound to the chest fired by the cowardly tin badge officer Moore.

No surprise that she was last seen in with officer Moore by family on Wednesday that contacted authories because the woman had been reported missing and like many women Antionette would never leave without telling someone where she was or leave her children home alone.

The Tuesday evening before she had a dinner date with a man. It is suspected that officer Moore was stalking Antionette and was outraged that she had gone on a date.

Police learned that Moore, dressed in his police uniform, had been knocking on the apartment door and looking into the windows while Ross was out. Ross’ older daughter was home at the time, and she had called her mom to tell her.

A neighbor saw Ross return home, walking into her apartment for just a minute before leaving in her car. She returned 15 minutes later and was seen getting into the patrol car, which drove out of the complex, according to authorities.

According to a local news station “During an interview regarding Ms. Ross and her wherabouts at the police department where offficer Moore was employed, superviors stated "he was inconsistent in some of his answers, and some of his answers were not factual.” Moore was advised of his rights, “and Moore immediately terminated the interview and left the building.” said police. At that point, no body had been found, and investigators didn’t have enough evidence to arrest officer Moore.

Meanwhile, dozens of law-enforcement officers from numerous agencies, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, spent Thursday and early Friday searching the state hospital grounds where Moore had been seen and the area around Moore’s property.

On Friday, a massive search around officer Moore’s home spotted what appeared to be a shallow grave in Moore’s backyard. About the same time, investigators, who were in the back of the property, learned that a neighbor had called 911 to report seeing Moore shoot himself in the chest.

Like so many victims who are in violent relationships she would try so hard to get right and get on her feet, but she just kept getting pulled back into that relationship. And being involved with a police officer who is controlling and abusive women dating these bozo's have no place to safely turn for help. The tools that an abusive police officer have at their disposal places greater risk for victims.

Tragically, until wives and girlfriends of law enforcement officers are offered a safe exit plan, we will continue to see the death toll rise!

As a former police officers daughter, I know firsthand the fear and trauma associated in living with a man that used his badge, ultimately committing murder. In the 5th grade our class was given an assignment to write a poem about our lives. I wrote:

This man who drinks and carries a gun, each night he’d come home it would be no fun.

That badge, that gun, we have no place to run.

Detroit Police Department: Sweeping The Broom With One Of Their Own

Interesting that a Detroit Police Officer who fired three shots with his service revolver at his girlfriend is once again, being protected by the brotherhood of the blue badge. Not a big deal, "his anger got the best of him", according to his Sargent. Wrong response by the police department. The Invisible Cowardly Unnamed Officer should be charged with "A Felony for discharging at an inhabited dwelling." Look it up why don' t you, it's someplace there on the law books.

Whatdoes this say to all police officer's wives and girlfriends involved with those on the force whose "Anger gets the best of them". Is this how the Police Departments in the State of Michigan handle all incidents of officer related crimes?


Here's the Story: Cop facing gun charges after Canton domestic dispute

A Detroit police officer was arrested in Canton Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly fired three shots from his revolver during a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend.
Canton Police Sgt. Rick Pomorski said the officer is in his early 40s and a 10-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department. He got into an argument with the woman at her house in the Glengary subdivision on Canton’s west side when she began to move some of his stuff out of the home. Pomorski said the girlfriend is in her late 30s.

According to Pomorski, the man fired three shots from his revolver into the floor, and that the woman was not hit. The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m.

“I think this is one where his anger got away from him,” Pomorski said.

Police did not identify the officer, pending his arraignment, which Pomorski expected to happen Thursday morning in 35th District Court. As of Wednesday afternoon, he was still waiting for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office to hand down charges.

Charges could range from assault to illegal discharge of a firearm. He was being held in Canton’s jail pending his arraignment.Pomorski said the victim wanted to press charges after the incident.“She’s doing OK, just complaining about some bumps and bruises,” he said. “She does want to press charges and she is adamant of her fear of this man.”Pomorski said the woman refused medical treatment after officers responded at the scene.
