Gail Palmgren: She Needs to Be Found!

As a handful of states experienced Hurricane Irene, another storm was brewing on the Facebook pages of "Bring Gail Home Now" with words of lightning spilling over to the Websleuths.com forum.

Gail Palmgren has been missing from Signal Mountain, TN, since April 30, 2011. As in all of the missing mothers cases, Gail Palmgren is no exception, she would never, ever leave her children, but that is what some would have the world believe. The actions and words of a spouse or significant other speak volumes in cases of intimate partner missing persons cases.

First, it was said Gail was"not stable" according to the Palmgren family. They falsely claim Gail was on medication for mental health issues and she "was" (that is the word used) as crazy as a close relative who suffered from severe mental health issues. My favorite phrase, used in almost every one of these cases by individuals with first hand knowledge, "she took off on her own." The picture painted of Gail prefaced each time with "did you know." Never once, was it said in the conversation, "we are concerned." Never once was it said, "she needs to be found."

The individual with knowledge in most intimate partner missing persons cases seldom participates in searches for their missing "loved one."

If they have pass codes into the missing person's social networking pages they do things like remove photos and take the name of themselves off the pages.

On their own personal pages they remove that they were married to this individual.

They almost never indicate the loved one is missing or they are looking for this person.

So, Gail Palmgren has been erased from many pages, including the individual who should be concerned the most, at the very least for the mother of his children. I fully expect an answer as to why, but it won't float a boat. Gail Palmgren was never listed or mentioned on any page related to this individual, nor his immediate family, from day one. This shows us an example of the importance of actions and pattern of conduct, in my opinion, before, during and after in cases of intimate partner missing persons.

On the social pages, instead of doing what they can to spread the word and look for Gail, there are conversations and attacks towards those trying to help. The focus of discussion has been from goats to property, who was a friend and who was not, to personal attacks of a few close to Gail for doing whatever necessary to bring her home. Bringing Gail home is the goal and focus of the page, no different from any other missing persons site, asking for support, help and information from the general public.

So I would like to remind "Mr. Diarrhea of the Mouth," in case it slipped your mind, Gail Nowacki Palmgren is missing and there is no place in the discussions about her that is more important than that statement, until she is found.

The case of Gail Palmgren still needs to be registered with a qualified agency who handles (without charge to the families) organized searches to look for loved ones. This case needs trained advocates who can work as liasions for the family and for law enforcement, doing whatever necessary to find Gail. To date, no family member has yet to register the case.

No Apologies for Speaking out for Silenced Victims

On The Roth Show we discussed the cases of missing mothers Gail Nowacki Palmgren, Susan Powell and Jacque Waller for three hours. Each hour dedicated in memory and hopes someone will either finally come forward or they will be found.

After the show, Internet sites commented that I was either talking too much or just trying to sell books. Both are true!

I have been silenced for many years, kept in a corner while keeping women alive, silenced like my mother and others who were murdered. When I began my work in 1990, there was no Internet, and other options for victims of intimate partner violence and stalking were slim to none. As it relates to police officers who murder their wives, I was considered a thorn in the side of law enforcement across the country until more casualties continued to happen.

Selling books, absolutely! The book specifically, “Time’s Up,” along with the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit is about saving lives. So, if it saves just one life it is worth it, wouldn't you agree? In fact, it has kept many women out of the national missing persons data bases. It has given more women another chance at tucking in their children every night. It has kept these women alive!

At the moment, these 3 women above, had they had the book, would have been able to preserve their words from where ever they are, saving law enforcement manpower, resources from missing persons groups, and a prosecutor who has more to work with than “hearsay.”

My role is to report on these cases, something that before my own mother was murdered, simply did not happen. Information provided, coming directly from places and sources on these cases, does not always fit into a neat package. It does not always fit into a timeline sketched by those who want to capture information on websites for discussion and dissection. I only owe these families a platform to keep their loved one's cases alive until there is a resolution, and I gain nothing by it personally.

Until you are able to walk in the shoes of a child standing witness, helplessly, watching your entire world turn upside down; until you see the destruction, first hand, and all you can do is stand in silence; until someone from your family member goes missing; until you are threatened that if you do not go away and be quiet you will wind up like that person;
until your worst fears come true and you have to stand before a grave site, you should not be critical of another's methods.

I offer as a suggestion that people take the time to read an article that goes back to 1993, titled "Life Saver."

Gail Nowacki Palmgren: Beyond the Mountain Top

Dr. Gail Palmgren age 44, mother of 2 vanished from Signal Mountain TN, on April 30, 2011. Weeks before she was in the process of ending her marriage. Gail does what I have instructed victims of intimate partner violence to do for over twenty years, tell a trusted friend.

Gail Palmgren confides in Arlene Durham, her best friend. She gives her various items, paperwork to hold for safekeeping, keys to property, along with her verbal and email instructions to pick up a dvr at best buy. Because of various spyware applications on cell and her own personal computer Gail is unable to facilitate certain safety plans as it relates to leaving. Her best friend, Arlene gives Gail her laptop to use.

At the urging by Gail's relatives and Arlene, Matt Palmgren reports his wife missing. Arlene gathers everything given to her by Gail and goes to the police making every effort to tell them what she knows and hand everything over. The police response was dismissive. Signal Mountain Law Enforcement decide to turn a deaf ear.

How many of missing persons cases's involving women and mothers in the process of ending their dysfunctional and often violent relationship have to go missing before it is taken seriously by law enforcement?

The case is now 56 days-cold! Many a missed opportunity, erased by, in my opinion, incompetence in this particular missing persons case. Arlene Durham's only "agenda" is finding her best, Gail. She has important information in this case that I believe is of significance to what happened to Gail Palmgren. Speaking from experience, no one listened to my mother, or all those thousands, like her who go missing each day. The crime of intimate partner violence that leads to homicide is still dealt with in silence behind closed doors. I am one of the lucky ones to have been able to find my mother after searching for three days and take her to what resulted in a final resting place.

I vowed the day my own father murdered her that I would not allow another woman to be a statistic. Arlene Durham is doing the same as she shouts from beyond the mountain top for help in finding her best friend, Gail. That cry for help now includes the media.

Earlier today, on the show "Times Up" Arlene Durham was a guest on the live broadcast along with Robert H. Rarn, Retired Lt and Kim Anklin Criminal Analyst, principals in the firm Management Resources, Ltd., we discussed the missing person case of Dr. Gail Nowacki Palmgren.

Gail drove a four-door maroon 2010 Rubicon Jeep Wrangler with a black soft top. The wheel cover on the back has the words “Life is Good” and a daisy painted on it. The trailer hitch has a picture of the Disney character Goofy on it, and the Jeep has Alabama tags that read “EAZY ST”.

Gail is 5’8” and weighs 135 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Time Clock in Missing Person Cases

Last week Devin Ivey, 22, disappeared while with her husband from a budget motel in South Carolina on June 9, 2011. Her family immediately contacted law enforcement when they suspected something was wrong.

In many cases, when a person goes missing and they are married or in a relationship, friends and family can be hesitant to alert the authorities. The reason is the person is an adult and if they had little to no contact with the loved one they may wait it out for a few days, or sometimes weeks. In this case thank goodness the family acted immediately. Devin Ivey was a victim of intimate partner abuse that resulted in homicide.

Law enforcement wasted not one second looking for the young woman. The Cue Center for Missing Persons and their tireless volunteers were also called in for the search. The organization, headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, assists thousands of families each year with support on what to do, how to get the word out for their loved one, and a 24-hour access to volunteers who are there for the families of the missing.

Locating Devin Ivey, in my opinion, was because of trained law enforcement working in cooperation, certified and skilled searchers and dogs trained, and also certified, to recover bones and bodies.

Recovery of Devin Ivey was from the Cue's Center for Missing Persons own "Oscar" a certified live scent dog, and certified volunteer searchers, Bernie Thornton and Connie Braddock.

The CUE Center is now in Valliant, Oklahoma where they will search for Hope Meek over the weekend. In part because one hell of a detective with OSBI continued to work this case. The leads and tips provided is why the CUE Center will be searching for her.

Hope Meek resided on Section Line Road in Valliant, Oklahoma with her husband and their three young children. Her husband told authorities that he saw Meek inside their home during the day on February 21, 2002. She has never been heard from again. She not reported missing for five days.

Time on a clock, especially in cases of intimate partner violence, means everything the moment someone goes missing. The success of finding Devin Ivey was because searchers and trained volunteers were brought in immediately.Most importantly, the case was registered with a missing persons organization.

Each day we hear or see missing persons cases involving wives, girlfriends and mothers, husbands, boyfriends and fathers. The families are frozen with trauma and the fear of not knowing what steps to take; especially as it relates to a spouse or significant other. They are often afraid to rock the boat with that person. A family does not want to believe the person with whom their loved one is in a relationship with could be capable of harm.

If you want to find a missing person, allowing the trail to go cold without trained searchers is, in my opinion, a crime. That is your loved one. Aside from making a missing persons report, if you are a family member, either register with a missing persons agency or request that law enforcement contact an organization immediately so you, as a family member, know what direction and steps you need to take. They will work with you and law enforcement to combine efforts on your behalf. Gail Nowacki Palmgren: Follow the Money Trail

The case of Gail Nowacki Palmgren, 44, and the mother of two children who went missing from Signal Mountain, TN on April 30, 2011, is still without answers as to her possible location. Her case continues to be categorized by law enforcement as a “missing person’s case.” This is disturbing to me when you factor the events or “pattern of conduct” prior to April 30, 2011.

First and foremost, it is important to note, Gail Palmgren is not here to defend herself. When her husband painted a picture of a wife and the mother of his children as having serious mental health issues and taking prescription drugs, he was using the same offender playbook as Drew Peterson did when Stacy Peterson vanished on October 28, 2007. This speaks volumes to the actions and statements of a boyfriend, spouse, or former lover in all intimate partner violence and potential homicide cases.

The husband, Matt Palmgren, worked for Blue/Cross Blue/Shield as the director of pharmacy programs. He was having an affair with a woman who also was employed at the company as a director of governmental product development by the name of Tammy Helton.

Blue/Cross Blue/Shield has since terminated both Helton and Palmgren. I found it odd that the girlfriend has consulted with a criminal lawyer. I can’t recall anyone, so early in a case doing this before, just because they were having an affair. In my opinion, it sends up a red flag. Hopefully the powers that be within the company have taken their computers and are holding them waiting until police come with a search warrant to retrieve conversations and perhaps information that could be important in the disappearance of Gail Nowacki Palmgren. This also should apply to cell phones and any other electronic equipment that was turned in to the company after termination. Expenses, receipts for gas, car or truck rental, and possible toll booths they could have used from the beginning of March thru May 3rd need to be captured. If they had company cars was there a GPS system on the car?

The police department in Signal Mountain, TN, should consider bringing in a more experienced team within the State to help them with this case. Time and potential evidence are all but vanishing. In cases of “intimate partner missing” you have to set aside professional egos. If Gail was in continuous contact with detectives by cell phone as she returned from the cabin in Alabama, why didn’t they meet her at the house? Why did detectives believe it was important to provide Gail with numbers to a shelter if they did not feel she was in danger? Gail allegedly reported to detectives from her cell phone on the road with the kids still in the car that she was scared and being followed.

When she dropped off the kids at home the husband was suppose to be there waiting for them. That did not happen. So she allegedly makes the appropriate call and leaves the home knowing an adult will be with them within a few minutes. But, with whom does she leave when she returns to her jeep? Is the person in the back seat of the jeep? Is it possible that someone is in the home waiting at the time she drops off the kids? Is she threatened?

When the neighbor tries to see how Gail is doing, she speeds off quickly. Was someone in the vehicle with her?

Detectives knew she was in fear, why didn’t they do a wellness check on her, or ask that she meet with them at the station or another location? Clearly someone dropped the ball.

The fact that the private investigator hired by Palmgren is a former law enforcement officer from Signal Mountain adds up to, in my opinion, smoke and mirrors for this case.

This is about money. If you follow the money and property at stake, the affair, in my expert opinion, you have motive.

So far the only ones acting responsibility have been Blue/Cross and Blue/Shield. Perhaps they would consider offering a reward for, what I feel is an individual and family member, if you will, of a company that insures millions of lives across America.To offer a reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible is important.

Law Enforcement needs to obtain a court order and go through 60 days prior from the date Gail vanished of cells phone records, including work and the kid’s phones. This also should include anything that could have been accessed during while they were employed at BlueCross and Blue Shield. Go to the post office and check the change of address done on April 30, 2011. Interview the private investigator hired by Gail.
