The Killings in Oklahoma on The Susan Murphy Milano Show: 2-3 PM, October 27, 2011

Thursday, October 27, 2pm ET

Susan Murphy Milano has been appointed the Taylor family spokesperson. Time’s Up! will be discussing these unsolved cases with Ashley Taylor’s father and step mother and an investigative reporter from FOX News, Phil Cross.

On June 8, 2008 the tiny town of Weleetka, Oklahoma was rocked to it’s core when two young girls, Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Placker, 13, best friends, were found shot to death while walking along County Line Rd. The tragic case brought immediate national media attention and an aggressive investigation, OSBI and FBI included. Hundreds of tips and suspects later, the case may be closer to a resolution as agents are honing in on a specific gun purchased at a gun show.

On July 15, 2011, Ashley Celeste Taylor, 23, was reported missing from Okmulgee, OK, a town near Weleetka, supposedly after an argument with her fiance, Kevin Sweat. Sweat was subsequently arrested and confessed to her murder, telling officials that her remains were buried off of Highway 75. In early August, 2011, searchers found human bone fragments, pieces of clothing and glasses consistent with Ashley’s on the property of Kevin Sweat’s father, near Weleetka.

The investigators are now turning a closer eye to the theory that Kevin Sweat could be responsible for the slaying of the young girls along with his fiance, Ashley Taylor. New information is being discovered daily.

Listeners will hear first hand information about the connections between these unsolved cases and the people surrounding them, in the hope that the pieces of the puzzle are fit together to bring resolution.

Ethics Play a Major Factor in the Murder of Sheena Morris

Tonight, August 2, 2011, on the Crime Wire Investigates radio show, as part of our on going flame to justice, we discussed the death and lack of investigation in the unsolved death of Sheena Morris.

On January 1, 2009, the 22-year old was found hanging from a shower in a hotel room located in Anna Marie Island, Florida. Sheena was ending the relationship with her on again off again boyfriend, telling her mother it was coming to an end and things were going to change in the New Year.

It is important to note that a victim of intimate partner violence, never takes their own life as we would learn during the show; often they figure out the best way to move forward minus the violence and live their lives, not take their life! This was not a suicide as initially ruled.  Basically, no investigation was done by Bradenton detectives and the crime scene was mishandled. The medical examiner's office relied on those who responded to the scene, and with limited information and incorrect police reports, each a contributing factor in the initial ruling for this case as a suicide.

It would be Kelly Osborn, Sheena's mother, that would gather evidence and  information, along with hiring outside forensic pathologists Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Michael Berkland, that would allow the Florida medical examiner to change the manner of death in March of 2011 to "undetermined." That should have been enough to re-open the case, but it was not. Public comments in media interviews labeling Kelly Osborn as a mere "grieving mother" are inexcusable.

In addition, 10 months after Sheena's death, the detective contacted the person of interest and informed him that "he is going to contact his alibi" for the evening in question. This action, in and of itself, is a huge ethics issue. It goes to credibility and can hurt future cases within the department, the county, and for the FDLE.

There were other issues and red flags of importance discussed about this case. The FDLE must take the lead and step in to investigate. Until they do, we (Crime Wire) will continue to take appropriate measures in the murder investigation and ultimate justice for Sheena Morris. Below is the link to the Crime Wire show.

Susan Powell's Killer Plays A Game of Catch me If You Can?

Susan Powell's body has yet to be found since she was reported missing by her family on December 6, 2009.

The facts to this case are like so many other women who wanted nothing more than to get out of their abusive marriage, divorce and move forward with their lives. Instead, in my opinion, Susan Powell was murdered.

In November of 2010, Josh Powell the estranged husband breaks his silence along with his father and gives an interview to the Salt Lake City Tribune. I found many disturbing red flags in the interview that I did a three part series on this missing woman and in my opinion an individual who has yet to be arrested for her murder. The links to the series are provided below.

Now, it appears the father-in-law has decided to release a journal written by Susan when she was a teenager. The site these people have created, plastered with photos and other information about Susan is nothing more than a psychopath’s attack on a woman who is missing in hopes of disarming the truth in the case. Frankly, this is the first time I have seen a father and son team up. The smear tactics will change nothing, Susan Powell, is missing. If Josh Powell in my opinion was innocent why did he run like a big coward to another state? Why didn't he cooperate with law enforcement? Why was there a need to hire a criminal defense attorney on December 14, 2009? Why has he never allowed Susan’s family contact with the children?
In cases of intimate partner violence that leads to homicide, a guilty person in my experience will do everything they can to disarm the truth. A guilty person immediately lawyers up. A guilty person in these cases never cooperates with authorities. A guilty person in these cases, never, ever searches for their wife. A guilty person, in cases of intimate partner homicide waits patiently in their world of “catch me if you can.”
David Lohr's article about the journal can be read by going to the link HERE

Created because of women like Susan Powell, my mother Roberta Murphy, or Stacy Peterson who went missing on October 28, 2007, without a trace is the book, or the safety "prescription" as it is called Time's Up: Guide on How to Leave Abusive and Stalking Relationships"

The guide is a life raft providing structure in the midst of chaos and it has kept many victims of intimate partner violence, to date, alive.

Among the tools and forms, is the procedure of an “Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit”, a sworn statement detailing the facts of an individual’s victimization, preserving the specifics so they are not lost even if the victim is reported missing. It is difficult to think about speaking from the grave, but no different than any life insurance policy obtained in consideration for those left behind.

An “Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit" and video has the additional psychological benefit of being forced to face reality and admit that the potential for the ultimate kind of violence exists…and that if it occurs the perpetratorwill be held accountable.

The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit: A Victim’s Voice(c)
Domestic violence or intimate partner victims now are able to provide information, in their own words, about the fears, dangers, experiences they have had at the hands of their abuser. The" Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit" or "EAA" records victim's stories, histories, and experiences which are preserved and stored on their behalf. These videos will provide answers to the many questions, allegations, and fears that arise when a person has disappeared, gone missing, or been found dead.

Recent cases, such as missing mother Susan Powell of Utah, Kelly Rothwell of Florida, and women likeStacyPeterson, where the victim’s police officer husband is the person of interest, is the classic example of the benefits of this type of evidence. If Stacy Peterson, or any woman found murdered or is missing, had done an Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit, ON TAPE, from following the information in the “Time’s Up" book on a flash drive, they would be able to describe:
- threats made against her life or wellbeing, including details of how the perpetrator would carry out the threat
- incidents of past abuse that the victim has endured
- admissions or comments made to her about other victims or people abused
- where evidence or weapons would or could be located
- possible alibis that the perpetrator would make up in his defense (including identification of people who could be co-defendant’s or co-suspects)
- portray visible injuries or marks
Just think if we incorporate an effective plan and have it available for every prosecutor, law enforcement, church, family law office and social service agency across the country, lives would be saved. And I wouldn't be writing about women similar to Kathy Brados, killed by a man hell bent on power and control.

Gail Nowacki Palmgren: Beyond the Mountain Top

Dr. Gail Palmgren age 44, mother of 2 vanished from Signal Mountain TN, on April 30, 2011. Weeks before she was in the process of ending her marriage. Gail does what I have instructed victims of intimate partner violence to do for over twenty years, tell a trusted friend.

Gail Palmgren confides in Arlene Durham, her best friend. She gives her various items, paperwork to hold for safekeeping, keys to property, along with her verbal and email instructions to pick up a dvr at best buy. Because of various spyware applications on cell and her own personal computer Gail is unable to facilitate certain safety plans as it relates to leaving. Her best friend, Arlene gives Gail her laptop to use.

At the urging by Gail's relatives and Arlene, Matt Palmgren reports his wife missing. Arlene gathers everything given to her by Gail and goes to the police making every effort to tell them what she knows and hand everything over. The police response was dismissive. Signal Mountain Law Enforcement decide to turn a deaf ear.

How many of missing persons cases's involving women and mothers in the process of ending their dysfunctional and often violent relationship have to go missing before it is taken seriously by law enforcement?

The case is now 56 days-cold! Many a missed opportunity, erased by, in my opinion, incompetence in this particular missing persons case. Arlene Durham's only "agenda" is finding her best, Gail. She has important information in this case that I believe is of significance to what happened to Gail Palmgren. Speaking from experience, no one listened to my mother, or all those thousands, like her who go missing each day. The crime of intimate partner violence that leads to homicide is still dealt with in silence behind closed doors. I am one of the lucky ones to have been able to find my mother after searching for three days and take her to what resulted in a final resting place.

I vowed the day my own father murdered her that I would not allow another woman to be a statistic. Arlene Durham is doing the same as she shouts from beyond the mountain top for help in finding her best friend, Gail. That cry for help now includes the media.

Earlier today, on the show "Times Up" Arlene Durham was a guest on the live broadcast along with Robert H. Rarn, Retired Lt and Kim Anklin Criminal Analyst, principals in the firm Management Resources, Ltd., we discussed the missing person case of Dr. Gail Nowacki Palmgren.

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Eleanor Roosevelt"

The only goal is to find Gail Palmgren. If you or I were to go missing, I hope my best friend would do exactly what Arlene Durham is doing, shouting from beyond the mountain top, until we are found!
