Sheila Deviney was a single mother of two and a recent college graduate who lived next door to her parents in Maysville, Garvin County, Oklahoma. On Tuesday, January 6th, 2004, after she had dropped off her children at school, Sheila was brutally murdered in broad daylight by a group of persons who  subdued her, packed flammable material around her in her trailer home, doused her with accelerants and burned her alive.

Six years after Sheila’s death,in 2010, the Office of the State Medical Examiner threatened to incinerate portions of Sheila’s remains kept following her autopsy for potential future forensic tests, citing storage space concerns. These remains amount to small samples of tissue and blood roughly the size of a deck of playing cards or smaller.

The Devineys have joined other families from all over the state in demanding our tax dollars be spent wisely in reforming the Medical Examiner’s Office into the kind of separate, capable and forthright agency that Sheila Deviney, and all Oklahomans, deserve.

Trisha Stemple Justice Served as the State of Oklahoma Executes Her Killer

 

In the early morning hours of October 24, 1996, Trisha Stemple, was brutally murdered. Her body was left on the side of U.S. Highway 75 in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

Her husband  Timothy Shaun Stemple was charged and convicted of the killing of his wife.

At trial the prosecutor's case was strong proving to a jury Timothy Stemple concocted a plan to terminate the life of his wife, Trisha Stemple, and to collect her life insurance proceeds. Stemple was having an extra-marital affair with Dani Wood. Dani Wood had a sixteen year old cousin, Terry Hunt. According to Hunt, Stemple offered him $25,000 to $50,000 to help kill Trisha (if they collected the insurance money).  Hunt recruited another person, to assist in the plan. Nat Helm and Hunt went to Wal-Mart where they purchased a baseball bat and plastic wrap. The
plastic wrap was wrapped around the bat to keep the bat from getting bloody.
On October 10, 1996, Hunt and Helm went to the designated location on highway
75 and waited for Stemple and his wife to arrive. A while later Stemple drove up and
told Helm and Hunt that Trisha was ill and he could not get her to accompany him.

Two weeks later, Stemple arranged for Hunt to drive Stemple’s pickup to a particular
location on highway 75 and leave the hood up. Stemple and Trisha arrived in their
black Nissan Maxima. Stemple began working on the truck and Trisha stood next to
the truck. Hunt came up behind Trisha and hit her in the head with the bat. The blow
did not render Trisha unconscious, so Stemple took the bat and hit her several more
times.

Stemple and Hunt then placed Trisha’s head in front of the front tire of the pickup
and attempted to run over her head, however, the tire would not roll over Trisha’s
head so her head was pushed along the pavement. After this, Trisha tried to get up.
Stemple grabbed the bat and hit her several more times. The pair then placed Trisha’s
body under the truck and drove over her chest. Trisha rose up on her
elbows, so Stemple hit her again several times with the bat.

Stemple then went back to the black Nissan and drilled a hole in the front tire to
make it look as if Trisha’s car had a flat. One expert testified that the hole in the tire
had spiral striations consistent with drilling. Stemple and Hunt left in the pickup, but
decided to turn around to make sure Trisha was dead. When they got back to the spot
where they left Trisha, they noticed that she had crawled into the grass beside the
road. Stemple then sped up and ran over Trisha as she lay in the grass.

Trisha’s body was found later that morning, after Stemple called reporting that she
was missing. The autopsy evaluation revealed that Trisha had fractures to her arm,
ribs, pelvis, vertebrae and skull. The medical examiner concluded that Trisha died
from blunt force trauma to the head.

After years of unsuccessful appeals, today, at 6:00 PM Central time Timothy Shaun Stemple will be executed by lethal injection for the murder of Trisha Stemple.

On a Website called FreeShaun.com a letter written by Stemple on March 5, 2012, claiming his innocence  posted for the world to read.  A jury sent a message when Trisha Stemple, mother of two was brutally murdered.  Trisha's voice silenced, as so many victims of intimate partner violence leading to homicide are, across the county by those who profess to love them.  The Governor of Oklahoma as of yesterday, does not intend on issuing a stay of execution for Stemple.

Today, Trisha Stemple has the last word as the angels sound their horns for justice!

Tara Johnson and Daughter Allison and the Million Dollar Question

On Tuesday, mother and daughter were found dead in Oklahoma.  And by Wednesday,at a hotel room in Las Vegas, the husband and father was found, he'd committed suicide.

Tara Johnson, 29 and her 16 month -old daughter Allison were murdered.  The couple "appeared loving and happy."   There were no financial issues and no signs of any trouble or abuse in the couple's marriage.  Yet, David Johnson murdered his family.

In cases of intimate partner violence leading to homicide, the silence of not telling their shameful secret to friends and family can be common.  In many relationships, a victim is embarrassed, refraining from disclosing to anyone, even their closet friends they're being abused. A victim can falsely believe they can handle the abuse.  The victim loves the person so much she has a false sense of safety, thinking the situation will never escalate to the point the person will actually kill them, or their own child.

We see this pattern in cases of intimate partner homicide over and over.  There is no making sense of these cases, especially when a father who participates in the upbringing of their own daughter, takes her innocent life.

Everyone who knew the couple will always wonder and then ask my least favorite question in cases of intimate partner homicide; what drove David Johnson to commit murder?

Tonight on Murphy's Justice case of Sheila Deviney, found burned to death in her Maysville, Oklahoma home in January, 2004. Her death was originally categorized as an accident, but later deemed a homicide which is still unsolved. Through the years the family of Sheila Deviney have tirelessly sought justice, all the while meeting obstacles along the way as her case has grown cold.

Sadly this case is all too common. Victims of intimate partner violence who seek custody of their children and have taken steps to end a relationship before, during or as in Sheila Deviney's case after a divorce are silenced by their abusers.

There is a $50,000 reward being offered to anyone who comes forward with information that will put the killer(s) behind bars. But first, the good people of Garvin County need to start demanding answering because as of now Sheila Deviney's homicide case is not being investigated.

Confirmed Connection and Arrest to a Cold- Blooded- Killer in Oklahoma

Earlier today the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations held a press conference. Officially announcing Kevin Sweat has been charged with two counts each of first degree murder, and two counts each with intent to kill for the murders of Skyla Witaker, 11 and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13.

Police are still asking the public's help in locating the gun used in the murders (info in the poster). The District Attorney is also going to seek the death penalty.

Taylor Family Statement: "Michael Taylor extends his heart felt prayers to the families of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Pascal Placker. Today, a community can rest a little easier tonight in knowing the -killer- at- large has finally been named and charged in the girls murders."

The 3 photo's above are of Keven Joe Sweat. On August 3, 2011 he was arrested and charged with the murder of Ashley Celeste Taylor, 23. Police recovered her remains on August 10, 2011 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Ashley Celeste Taylor went missing on July 15, 2011, as in most intimate partner violence cases Sweat told numerous stories about his fiance' search teams combed various areas until her remains were finally recovered.

But this may not be his only murder. The activities of Keven Sweat begin with a forum he is a member of under the name "Deviant" below is a partial journal entry dated April 14, 2011.

Well america, what can I say? World's gone to shit and when you look at everything, it was only a matter of time.

Anyway, back to me, I got in touch with one of my friends that I haven't spoked to since a bad confrotation between her and my 'fiance', which I probably shouldn't of talked to her, cause she has had feelings for me, which I don't feel the same way, she's trying her damndest to get me to come to California to be with her.........NO! FUCK NO! She's trying to get me in trouble. *sigh* Guess I had it coming, but it won't matter in a few months, I'm taking every step I can to make sure I can start over in life whether people like it or not, it's my fucking life, not there's!

Remember Tabby? The Tabby I've had a crush on for damn near a year? Well, I was gonna tell her how I felt before I left, least I could do even if Im not coming back. Well....she's now seeing someone...I kinda feel like an idiot cause I thought I had a chance even before all this shit...maybe I was lying to myself, try to find something to make me feel more real instead of a ghost who can only be seen on the web (no seriously, I try to speak and get cut off by someone else, even when I try to push it).

I'm not gonna lie, I fucked up alot over the years, but how many people do you know is willing to admit it. If I could go back, tell myself it ain't worth it, I would...but we both know I can't. When my brother died...well...part of me really did die, and I don't like myself even more than I did 10 years ago. Guess you can say that's why I'm leaving, to in a way...ok, not actually kill myself, but kill off Josepi. Go something, change my name to something I like (come on now, who wants the last name 'sweat'?........exactly)

People might think that what I'm doing is extreme, but how far will you go to change? To break away?

I don't know if I said this, so I'll say it now:

Last year I was at Petsmart, I was looking at the birds, and saw a lone parriot in a cage. I was just staring at it, and it stared right back at me, and that's when I realized we are all more like birds in a giant series of cages. In our own cage, looking out to the 'outside' world, and into everyone elses cage, expecting each other to do the same thing in our cage: eat, sleep, walking around, fly (if we could).

We must allow ourselves to continue this pattern, to be kept as birds in a cage. Whether we live long and 'fulfilling' lives isn't as important as the media makes it out to be, but what matters is that we choose to be free, break from our cages. Fly far...fly high...never be captured again...

Is there a connection to Keven Joe Sweat in the unsolved murders of Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, who were found dead in Weleetka three years ago on June 8, 2008? There is an aggressive investigation and according to sources law enforcement are piecing together what could possibly result in Keven Sweat being charged for the girls murders.

Would it take Ashley Taylor's murder for OSBI and the FBI to see the connection between Sweat and the girls murder(s) in 2008? We will never know if in someway Ashley stumbled onto information and Sweat could not take the chance so he killed her.

An award for information is still being offered in the girls murders that brings an arrest and conviction in the slaying is up to $160,000.
