News Flash: Stacy Peterson is a Missing Person and Homicide Victim

It would be almost predictable that former Bolingbrook, IL, police Drew Peterson, would have an opinion on the circus like media activity and the tragic outcome surrounding the murder of Caylee Marie Anthony, whose mother Casey was acquitted by a jury, just last week.

No doubt Peterson's defense team watched the trial closely on television along with the rest of the world. But, to give ink as the Chicago Tribune has to Peterson's comment, without providing a photo or any information that Stacy Peterson is still a missing person and that her case is registered with the CUE Center for Missing Persons is a slap in the face for victims and their families across the county.

I said last week on radio interviews and blogs that an individual is innocent until a court of law says otherwise. The Peterson case is no different. And as I have said for months, I would not go to Vegas and bet 10 cents on this case when it finally goes to trial.

In my opinion, much was missed after the body of Kathleen Savio was discovered in a dry bathtub. And the current State's Attorney's office has their work cut out for them when the case finally goes to trial.

But I believe this should also be an opportunity for law enforcement and the media to keep the information out in the public that Stacy Peterson is missing. Every effort should be made until the trial to enlist the public's assistance in finding her. It would have an impact prior to the trial of Kathleen Savio, Peterson's third wife.

To the Tribune staff and editors, I ask that when you get a comment from a man whom has been given celebrity status for in my opinion, practicing on one, and perfecting on the other, include in your story information about a young mother who has been silenced and deserves to be found!

Stacy was last heard from on October 28, 2007 at around 10 AM. She was supposed to meet a friend to help paint a house. She shares a home with her husband, police Sgt. Drew Peterson. He told police that he last spoke with his wife at 9 PM on the day she disappeared but hadn’t seen her since the morning. He claims she called to tell him she was leaving with another man but that story is under scrutiny.

Caylee Marie Anthony : Shining the Light for Justice

From the moment Caylee Marie Anthony's remains were discovered, her young voice silenced, the world stood up and took notice. This child would be recognized internationally in her tragic death and yet seemingly invisible during her short time while alive on earth. Caylee's bright eyes and smile captured our hearts.

As a homicide survivor, moving forward to direct others to safety, shinning a light on their path as it relates to victims of intimate partner violence and homicide was the best way to honor the murder of my own mother, Roberta Murphy, age 47, by my father a Chicago violent crimes detective in 1989. I learned everything I could about crimes within families, from spending long hours in courtrooms to directly helping loved ones at crime scenes and assisting them at surviving every moment of each new day.

Out of my work produced my first book, published by Doubleday books titled "Defending Our Lives: Getting away from Domestic Violence & Staying Safe" in 1996. From there "Moving Out Moving On," Time's Up: How to Survive Abuse & Stalking Relationships" and now the upcoming book scheduled to be released this fall "Holding My Hand Through Hell." Because of my mothers murder, thousands of women and children are less likely to end up from someone else's rage listed on a cemetery headstone.

The same applies to true Crime Author Diane Fanning, whom on November 3, 2009, released the only book on this precious child's life titled "Mommy's Little Girl."

She is an advocate for change. Her voice is often used for those who have been silenced or wrongly convicted. I am sure many of you do not know that earlier this year, Diane Fanning won "The Defenders of The Innocent Award" from The Innocence Project for her true crime book "Through The Window."

Through The Window is more than an investigation into a crime spree that stunned a nation. It's an utterly terrifying plunge into the unfathomable dark mind of a serial killer, and the heart-wrenching story of the brave child who finally brought him to justice.

Fanning's book in April of 2003, was responsible for Julie Rae receiving a new trial. Her conviction over turned because Fanning's book proved Julie Rea did not commit the crime.

True Crime Author Diane Fanning: Casey Anthony Trial

In an earlier post, we examined the first ten items in Dr. Robert Hare's twenty-point psychopathy checklist. All ten could be connected to the personality and behavior of Casey Anthony. Now here are the second group of points for consideration.

Promiscuous Sexual Behavior: a variety of brief, superficial relations, numerous affairs, and an indiscriminate selection of sexual partners; the maintenance of several relationships at the same time; a history of attempts to sexually coerce others into sexual activity or taking great pride at discussing sexual exploits or conquests.

Casey has a long list of conquests including a string of one-night stands around the time that Caylee was conceived. Some she only knew by first names. It is no surprise that Casey cannot tell us who Caylee's father is. She used Anthony Rusciano mercilessly, leaving him feel like dreadful when she rose from his bed and walked out without a word. She had a string of overlapping, serial relationships--still having sexual relations with Rico Morales as she transitioned to Tony Lazzaro.

Early Behavior Problems: a variety of behaviors prior to age 13, including lying, theft, cheating, vandalism, bullying, sexual activity, fire-setting, glue-sniffing, alcohol use, and running away from home.


No known evidence of these problems in Casey Anthony.


Lack of realistic, long-term goals: an inability or persistent failure to develop and execute long-term plans and goals; a nomadic existence, aimless, lacking direction in life.

Casey couldn't even manage to stick it out long enough to graduate from high school. She expressed an interest in photography and her father tried to help her get into school to study, she dropped that ball without looking back. She hadn't worked for years and led an empty life filled with parties and sex without an apparent thought for tomorrow.


Impulsivity: the occurrence of behaviors that are unpremeditated and lack reflection or planning; inability to resist temptation, frustrations, and urges; a lack of deliberation without considering the consequences; foolhardy, rash, unpredictable, erratic, and reckless.

She murdered Caylee without having a plan to dispose of the body. She hid her pregnancy without a thought for her ability to conceal it forever. She lived her life one day at a time, making up one lie after another to buy time before the inevitable revelation of Caylee's death.


Irresponsibility: repeated failure to fulfill or honor obligations and commitments; such as not paying bills, defaulting on loans, performing sloppy work, being absent or late to work, failing to honor contractual agreements.

She lost her job by not showing up. She didn't not graduate from high school by being absent. She did not work to pay her bills, preferring to steal from others including her parents, friends and elderly grandparents.


Failure to accept responsibility for own actions: a failure to accept responsibility for one's actions reflected in low conscientiousness, an absence of dutifulness, antagonistic manipulation, denial of responsibility, and an effort to manipulate others through this denial.

It was always someone else's fault. It was the high school's fault that she did not graduate. It was George, Lee and Cindy's fault that she lied. It was an accident that Caylee died. It was Roy Kronk's fault for dumping the body in the woods. She was a victim, she insisted, not a perpetrator.


Many short-term marital relationships: a lack of commitment to a long-term relationship reflected in inconsistent, undependable, and unreliable commitments in life, including marital.

Casey bounced from one relationship to another, although engaged, she'd not ever been married. Her interpersonal relationships with her family members were mercurial, more like that of a 13-year old than that of a young woman in her twenties.

Juvenile Delinquency: behavior problems between the ages of 13-18; mostly behaviors that are crimes or clearly involve aspects of antagonism, exploitation, aggression, manipulation, or a callous, ruthless tough-mindedness.

Casey Anthony did not have a juvenile record. Her manipulation of others, however, was clearly evident as was her habit of lying about everything and nothing at all.


Revocation of condition release: a revocation of probation or other conditional release due to technical violations, such as carelessness, low deliberation, or failing to appear.


Casey Anthony did not violate conditional release when she was out on bail on the check theft charges. She did not have the opportunity to do so after she was charged with murder because she was never released on bail.


Criminal Versatility: a diversity of types of criminal offenses, regardless if the person has been arrested or convicted for them; taking great pride at getting away with crimes.


Repeated theft from parents, grandparents and friends. False statements to the police. Suspected homicide of a child.

Casey Anthony easily meets the definition in seven of these final ten points. That gives her a positive response on 17 out of 20 of the items. However, taking it a step further, scoring each point on a scale of 0-2. By my calculation, that would give her a total score between 32 and 38. A diagnosis of psychopathy is met when the subject scores 30 points or more.

I am not a mental health professional, but it seems clear to me that Casey Anthony fits the diagnosis. It explains why Caylee Marie Anthony is now dead.

Lisa Stebic, a mother of two children who enjoyed her job at an elementary school in Plainfield, Ill., disappeared on April 30, 2007. According to her husband, Lisa left their home around 6 p.m. while he was working in their backyard. Lisa sometimes went to nearby Plainfield North High School, where she also worked in the school cafeteria, to work out on the track — but she did not go to the track that night. Lisa’s husband told police and reporters that she was a good mother who would never just walk away from her children. But as the days went by and more details about Lisa’s life started to become public, police found that they had more and more questions that needed answering.

Case 3 – $100,000 UNSOLVED CRIME REWARD – THE SHORT FAMILY MURDERS
Michael and Mary Short were found slain in their Oak Level, Va., home in August 2002. The remains of their 9-year-old daughter, Jennifer, were found six weeks later under a bridge across the border in North Carolina. Each person had been shot once in the head.

"Mommy's Little Girl"

The Caylee Anthony Case still gives me chills each time I hear a new development on CNN or Nancy Grace . It makes me wonder how the world we live in has become so cruel and heartless that a mother would murder their own child?

When Author Diane Fanning told me she agreed to write a book about the Anthony case I thought to myself why write a book when you can watch the news coverage? But I was wrong.

After receiving an advance copy from the publisher and with spare time on my hands I was pleasantly surprised by St. Martin's Press of "Mommy's Little Girl." Fanning writes with heart, soul and truth, about a little girl that has not only grabbed national headlines, but our hearts, leaving us all asking: how could anyone, especially a mother, murder their own child?
