Families of the Missing: In Support of The Journey

The phone rings around the clock at the CUE Center for Missing Persons.. Families from all walks of life looking for someone to listen and help them find their missing child, sister, brother, daughter, mother, grandmother, father or friend. On the other the voice answers "Cue Center, Monica speaking."

If the person's case is not registered with the Cue Center for Missing Persons, Monica Caison or a volunteer explains the process to the caller guiding them to either fill out the forms on line or if they do not have access to a computer, they are mailed directly to the person. Once the forms are completed and the case is registered, the work begins.

Since 1994, this dynamo of a woman has helped thousands of families across the country recover their missing loved ones.

The work of the Cue Center gives families hope. What the public does not see behind the scene's is the care and devotion given to each missing person's case and the family. Before a search, Monica and her team for weeks, pour over maps in the area. They work closely with law enforcement and strategically plan out the area where the person was last known to be seen. Orchestration of horses, specially trained cadaver dog teams along with trained volunteers cover to eliminate miles of ground during each search and rescue. Food and water is donated to feed the workers. Hotel and travel arrangements are made. All prior to arrival. Family members of the missing loved one are not allowed to participate. Instead, they are provided a loving and caring setting by the Cue Center and wait nearby hoping for news that their loved one was found.

Monica Caison and the Staff at the Cue Center is made up of all volunteers. No one draws a paycheck, including its' founder, Monica. During the past several months I have come to know the many of the families registered with agency. The work they accomplish for each individual family of the missing is incredible.

Monica Caison and the Cue Center shows us all that with shear passion and determination for families and their missing loved ones, she is not only their hope, but in my opinion, the brightest star in the universe!

First Segment:

In August 1972, 27- year-old Marine Sgt. William Miller returned toCamp Lejeune,North Carolina following a deployment in Okinawa. But when he arrived at the home he shared with his wife Vickie and Wendy, their 1-year-old daughter, he found that while he was away another Marine, George Hayden, had taken up residence in his house.

On Sept. 16, 1972, Miller received a call from his estranged wife to meet him onWestern Boulevard. Less than 20 minutes later, Miller was found dead in the street, shot twice with rounds from an M-16. A few days later, Hayden showed up at the neighbor’s house and took the alleged evidence Miller had collected against him. Detectives suspected Hayden of killing Miller, but couldn’t gather sufficient evidence for an arrest.

George Hayden, former Belhaven police chief, to be free man after conviction overturned

October 07, 2011

George Hayden, former police chief of Belhaven will be a free man next week. Hayden has been in prison for the murder of the husband of a woman he was living with at one time. The victims was killed on a lonely road in Onslow County late one night in 1972 and Hayden was convicted of the crime on May 26, 2010 and sentenced to life in prison.

The N. C. Court of Appeals ruled in June of this year that Hayden did not get a fair trial because the evidence presented against him was not sufficient to convict him. This week the N. C. Supreme Court refused to hear the state’s appeal so Hayden should be released from prison shortly.

Second Segment:

Gizela Andrade: "Vanished"

Gizela Andrade, 32, hasn't been heard from since she disappeared on Sept. 25 after a fight with her live-in boyfriend, and her digital trail has gone silent as well, according to authorities.

People do not realize the number one leading cause of death to a pregnant woman is intimate partner homicide. So why when a pregnant woman is reported missing do authorities need to wait 24 hours? Isn’t the fetus a life? Isn’t it a endangered child? In these cases an all points bulletin should be issued. If she did meet with foul play with her boyfriend, all you accomplished is assisting a killer with time to allow a trail to go cold. She has had no activity with anyone or anything for 9 days.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that because Gizela was pregnant that she could have crashed off the road because she is a diabetic.

Having said that I am concerned over what police have yet to do:

Have they checked the boyfriend’s cell phone records?
Have they checked his tower ping activity from his cell phone?

Does he have a GPS navigation system on his car they could possibility show
where he was that evening?

Does he have any marks or scratches on him? (or is that a moot point because by the time he was interviewed all visible marks are gone) And did police interview him by phone or immediately in person?

What about her 2010 Toyota Venza, a keyless remote car that comes with a GPS system, this should be fairly easy to locate and they need to get moving on making contact with the dealer as to how to track the vehicle.

The couple fought that night, her last KNOWN call was to her sister. But did anyone think that perhaps the boyfriend called Gizela and said, please meet someplace and let’s talk?

He also could have followed her after their argument.

And maybe, just maybe she never left the residence. Anyone think about obtaining a search warrant and going through the residence?

You cannot start the car with the keyless remote so again, maybe she never left the home to begin with and that is the story the boyfriend is telling because he knew she spoke with her sister.

Once again, if Gizela was a victim of intimate partner homicide and her body is recovered will police have enough experience to look outside the box at what may appear to be the scene of an accident?

I want nothing more then to be Wrong, but, under the circumstances can you blame me for demanding answers? Someone has too!!
