Update:William McQuain's Life Clear and Present Danger Needing Media Attention

Update: This Morning Montgomery County Chief of Police Thomas Manger announced a body was found on Tuesday morning, believed to be 11-year-old boy William McQuain.

Investigators concentrated their search on Tuesday in the wooded area near a Liberty gas station on Clarksburg Road, in Clarksburg

Police said at 9 a.m. , a K-9 unit discovered the remains of an African-American child at the location. Further forensic tests will be run to make a positive identication, but investigators believe it is the body of the missing 11-year-old.

William McQuain age 11,was disovered missing after police found his mother dead in her home.

An amber alert was issued on the same day for William.

In Rockville, MD, it wouldn't be until October 12, 2011, when police made the gruesome discovery of Jane McQuain in the bedroom of her condo. According to the medical examiner she died sometime around the 1st or 2nd of October.

No one has seen the child at school since September 30, 2011. Could he have been at home over the weekend when his mother was killed? The answer is yes.

Sometime on the weekend of October 1st, Jane McQuain's former husband who had been trying to re-enter her life, without success, showed up at her condo. According to news accounts, she was in fear of her life from Curtis Lopez. A tip called in from a neighbor said they saw Lopez loading items from the condo into her car. Lopez was arrested last Thursday, in North Carolina, Jane's car was found abandoned when he was taken into custody and charged with her murder. Now, police are asking for help in finding William. They assumed the child was with Lopez. But, he was not.

We haven't heard much about this case in the news, in my opinion, because children who are African American rarely qualify as rating news in mainstream media. Perhaps in this case, because of the mothers murder, and during national domestic violence awareness month CNN or MSNBC could consider making an exception. As it was, I had to search several different news story sites to piece together a description of the child and a number where people can call if they have any information.

The last time I checked, we all bleed the same color, it is red. This is about a child who could still be alive. This tragedy should, at the very least, be in all of the media's radar list of stories to report.

Montgomery County Police are leading a search effort in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old Germantown boy, who was last seen Sept. 30 and the Amber is still in effect. The child was last seen at Seneca Knolls Condos in the 1300 block of Braircliff Terrace. He is a sixth0grader at Martin Luther King Jr, Middle School in Germantown, MD. He is described as a black male with light skin, 5 feet tall and weighs about 85 pounds.Maryland State Police ask that anyone with information about William’s whereabouts call 911 or 240-773-5070. Callers have the option to remain anonymous.

In addition, Law Enforcement or the family should contact the Cue Center for Missing persons and register the case. Their Website site is www.ncmissingpersons.org. They are a non-profit national organization working with families providing support that includes searches.

UPDATE

Montgomery County police say they believe they've found the remains of a missing boy.

They discovered the remains of a young, African-American boy at 9:11 a.m. Tuesday in wooded area of the county. Police Chief Thomas Manger says officers believe it is the body of 11-year-old William McQuain, whose mother was found dead last week.

Los Angeles Police Fails Child Abduction Case

On April 4, 2009, 10-year old Tomas Betsis-Dunstan from Pacific Palisades, was forcefully taken in what 5 witnesses say was a choke hold from his school by his father George Betsis and Australian businessman. The couple never married but there was long custody battle between the couple.

In addition, there is an ongoing investigation by Los Angeles child protective services are sexual in nature. Considering the imminent danger to Priscilla Dunston's own life the Los Angeles police department are refusing to do their jobs and issue a warrant. This includes the less than dynamic team within the Los Angeles County District Attorney Karen Strickland, who in my professional opinion is treating this case without importance to the life of 10-year of Tomas and his mother. If George Betsis planned and hired a private investigator for several months prior to abducting his son, Priscillia Dunston's life is in danger. This is classic domestic violence 101 and Damn the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for refusing to do their job. Did they not learn from the murder of another victim, gunned down by her husband in January of 2008. Will they wait until blood starts dripping? And where is Steve Cooley hiding, under his official desk? Or is waiting for bloodshed before he writes an inter office memo to cover his Distrist Attorney behind?
Similar to the Jack and Duncan Connolly both taken during a visitation by their father who subsequently murdered the two young boys, the mother was not believed. The police as in this case allowed precious time to pass before finally releasing a missing person's number No. NR09175KS. But yet no amber alert.
In an interview airing early this morning Austrilia Time the father makes his case on television with this interview on the a curent affair exclusive. George Betsis is hiding out somplace an apartment in the Santa Monica, California area.
We will cover this case on Justice Interrupted Investigates, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 10:00 PM CST to discuss the issues that a parent faces when in a relationship and is unable to get police assitance or justice in the safe return of their children.

Honor Student & Aspiring Lawyer Could Have Used The Amber Alert

When an honor student, just fifteen years of age goes missing, is it too much to ask why in God's name someone did not issue an Amber alert for this teenager?

I understand that the Amber Alert system is mostly used for children thirteen years in age and younger, my question is why? Especially, if in the area the teen went missing ,there had been a rash of abductions and unsolved criminal activity in the area, as well.

Maybe, just maybe, it would have saved Brashai Griffin's life. According to friends and family, Brashai dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

The Amber Alert System given the unique challenges we face as a society on daily basis must consider raising the age requirment, especially when a parent contacts authorities in an area where a community regardless, of race, faces unknown predators just waiting for their next victim. Every minute, from the time the call is placed to authorities, is a minute erased from the clock of someon'e life.

Her body was discovered on Saturday. Police are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sauk Village Police Department at (708)-758-1331.
