Venus Stewart Case: Message to Ricky Spencer "Dude Be a Man!"

Venus Stewart has been missing since the morning she walked out from the front door of her parent’s home in her pajama's and was abducted. That was on the morning of April 26, 2010. She was estranged from her abusive husband. During the divorce Venus took the children to Michigan moved in with her parents.

This past April, Doug Stewart was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to life in prison. The person whom assisted him, Ricky Spencer was sentenced late last week to one year in the county jail for his participation in her abduction. This was a plea deal for his cooperation during Doug Stewart’s trial.

Sadly, the plea dead did not include telling prosecutors or anyone where Venus Stewart could be found. It is a double edge sword for any prosecutor and a continued life sentence in perpetuating the pain for families of missing persons.

The prosecutor did his job and justice was served. He had to weigh his options. A case like this without a body is difficult to prosecute. But, with Ricky Spencer’s testimony the case was made. For the family of Venus that will never give up until she is found.

I would like to believe that Ricky Spencer has a conscious. I am hoping perhaps when he is released which should be in about 6 months, he will be a man and call in a confidential tip to the Michigan State Police on where Venus can be found.

I am not sure if Ricky Spencer has a mother of his own or anything really about his personal life. I do know if Ricky Spencer went missing his family would do everything in their power to find him. I can’t imagine anyone putting a family through such pain when they have the answer. I do know that when he gets out either he will read this in jail or when he does a Google search for his name. I thought about his part in the taking of a life and would ask him to please give the family closure and provide the location of their daughter.

Anyone that provides the location in this case is automatically protected. You cannot be arrested or charged for calling in a tip.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Michigan State Police White Pigeon Post at 269-483-7611 Rockford Regional Dispatch Center, 616-866-6666.

Ricky Spencer, be a man and do the right thing!

  4. I interviewed both DS and RS for two hours each. I also combed through stacks and stacks of police reports and investigative interviews. I have interviewed felons for 20 years. I am pretty confident that RS does NOT know where Venus is. Although I do not mean to minimize RS's involvement, nor excuse him from stopping it, I also believe that DS completely conned RS him into assisting him with his attempts at covering up the murder.

  5. I agree you can tell he doesn't know where she is.

  6. Why would you assume Ricky knows where the body is? He was completely truthful (incredibly detailed testimony), and a HUGE part of why Doug Stewart is in jail now...probably the only reason.
I believe he doesn't have a clue where she is. The detectives who interviewed him for hours do not think he knows where she is.
He was one of the best witnesses I have ever seen in a trial.

  7. I can tell you with confidence if he knew where the body was he would tell. His parents are AMAZING people and are devastated by these events. There is no doubt if they suspected he knew they would have forced him to tell. He grew up in a very normal home with very loving caring parents. How he got involved in such a thing is beyond me.. and beyond them. There is no way his parents would allow him to remain quiet if he had information to her whereabouts.

  9. I believe Ricky has told all he knows.

Doug, on the other hands, holds the key, as do those cell phone pings on Fulton Rd., north of Colon.

It's Doug's parents I'm concerned about. A few days after Venus went missing, Doug's dad's neighbor's daughter who was at her parents' house that day, stated there was a really bad smell coming from the back of the property and encouraged her parents to call the police, but they didn't want to get involved. That property now belongs to a dairy farm.

Doug's parents would have noticed the smell as well, but who are they and what have they done to help find Venus, their daughter-in-law and the mother of their granddaughters?
