"Signal Mountain police Detective James Tizzio said his investigation had uncovered no psychiatric issues with the missing woman."
On Saturday, April 30, 2011, Gail Nowacki Palmgren, age 44, dropped off her 9 and 12 year old children at the marital residence and left (there was a ping signal to the Wal-Mart doesn't mean much of anything at this point) in Signal Mountain, TN and has not been seen or heard from since. She and the kids spent the prior night at the family cabin near Montgomery, AL, after police responded to a domestic related call, not the first time. Law Enforcement also provided a few safe telephone numbers for shelter services.
I have to admit, this case has me stumped. After receiving emails since the weekend asking for attention on her disappearance either via blogs or my radio shows, not a lot is making sense.
Law enforcement is being restrictive on their information and activities as it relates to an investigation or developments.
What we know:
We know the mother of 2 is missing.
We know the couple was in the midst of a legal separation.
We know that she received numbers to a shelter service from law enforcement.
We know the husband has a mistress who also is a co-worker.
We know the husband filed court papers for temporary custody of the children after mom was reported missing.
Some Questions:
Why isn't the husband cooperating with law enforcement?
Why is he claiming she has serious mental health issues?
Why is he claiming she changed codes to the bank accounts?
Why is he claiming she took jewels?
Why is he claiming that he received a change of address from the post office dated April 30th?
And why isn't he searching for his wife, the mother of his children?
Why is he setting the tone of details (his version) that have nothing to do with her needing to be found?
I always find that when a person provides this type of information it is to disarm the truth of what is really happening. Especially in cases of intimate partner violence.
According to a news interview her sister gave : "She was nervous. She was anxious. She sounded scared," says Diane Nichols. Palmgren wouldn't say why she was scared but the Nichols made out this much, "She just thought she was being followed." If she was a victim of intimate partner violence this has significance.
Question: The night she and the kids spend at the cabin where was the husband? I would, if possible, check his gas and credit card activities as well as his cell phone pings. Perhaps even locate his associates or friends and do the same with them.
To Gail's sister and brother, I suggest that you immediately contact the CUE Center for missing persons. Register the case with the organization so they can provide you with assistance in your sisters case. The number to call is 910-343-1131. The website is www.ncmissingpersons.org
I will also offer the family media to spread the word on radio shows this week to help get the information out. Just email me at murphymilano@gmail.com and provide a contact number if you would like to do so.
I would provide more details and insight but at this stage why give the criminal defense attorney a heads up. Focus should be directed on finding her, now.

And please don't forget the fact that local media is barely reporting her diappearance. There have been a couple quick blurbs here and there or a quick mention on the news, but not much. Most people in town have never heard of her and have no idea she is missing. The Sunday paper had absolutely NO mention of her disappearance. Meanwhile, the media and whole town are foaming at the mouth unable to control themselves over the fact that Lauren Alaina has been in town. You better believe media was ALL OVER that. I haven't heard of anything else all weekend. It is sickening that a town is more concerned with American Idol than a missing woman.

ReplyDeletei agree samuel. the fact that her neighbor is the ceo of the tfp has me scratching my head at the lack of coverage. i am crossing my fingers that this is due to a request from local LE. i am reading websleuths.com but can't post b/c it won't recognize my email to register. and there are no emails posted for me to contact a moderator. (the link also doesn't work for me) i spent a lot of time w/ someone close to gail and her children last week and we are both just confused. i didn't know her at all but the info out there is all so contradicting. also just an fyi, the info on this blog isn't 100% correct and/or fact. the biggest one is the statement that gail went to walmart after dropping off her kids. i'm under the impression that walmart came into this due to a "ping" from her phone at the tower near walmart. however that ping has been reported as having happened two days after she was last seen, i don't recall anyone saying she said she was going to walmart nor that there is any sightings of her there.
ReplyDeletewbsleuth@xmission.com email them...I had the same problem...they said something about high volume...and not registering ppl with FREE EMAIL addresses... but I have aol....and they finally registered me ...good luck

ReplyDeleteGail was seen driving away from her house by a friend and neighbour. She was not seen leaving the Mountain, nor at the Wal Mart. There have been no reported sightings of her even leaving her subdivision or anywhere for that matter. She has a striking vehicle that would be easily recognised. Somebody somewhere saw something and just does not know to report it, hence the need for publicity.
ReplyDeleteI checked the local news media websites and they really ARE "foaming at the mouth" as samuel said over lauren alaina's visit. WOW. If this is how they act over lauren alaina PLEASE dont ever let a REAL celebrity enter that town or the town itself will implode.
ReplyDeletethank you, i have emailed them. i too can't figure out how her jeep hasn't been spotted, other than the lack of coverage and the delay in reporting. tho i don't find that particularly suspicious considering he could have been given info that would lead him to believe she would be back (heading back to lake house, going to a friend's etc)
ReplyDeleteI saw this comment on one of the local news media's facebook page. I think it's fantastic:
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it have been nice if all the people who flocked to see Lauren Alaina volunteered to search for Gail like the community in Parsons, Tn did for Holly?
I've been following this and just saw today's "press conference"
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad I don't live in that town. I fear for anyone's safety who does. No one looking for this woman. No one gives a d@mn.
The town is probably like the place in Deliverance and people dont care that shes missing, because theyre all demented and evil.
ReplyDeletei live there. i only heard about this today. apparently, 2 1/2 weeks after the rest of the world heard of it. signal mountain chattanooga police look bad in the eyes of everyone whos been watching for the past 2 1/2 weeks. they realize this now, so theyre scrambling to make themselves look good and like theyve been doing something = press conference. im glad theyre finally getting the word out but why the heck did it take 2 1/2 weeks? in a case like this, time is of the essence. too much time has been wasted while they were sitting on their twiddling thumbs!
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know the girlfriends name?
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of the distraction from media attention is due to the horrible devestation experienced in our area just days before her disappearance. I live within walking distance of the neighborhood but had never met her but she looks familiar and I know I have seen the vehicle but not since she disappeared.
ReplyDeleteWhy has the family not asked for the FBI to get involved? I have a relative that works for FBI who states that the local law inforcement always screw up the initial investigation in missing persons cases.
And yes, DuelingBanjos, there are some outlying areas up here that are like Deliverance but those people would report anything unusual. Now would they be taken seriously? Probably not.
I hike on back roads and trails and I can assure that within a five minute drive you can be in the wilderness where a vehicle and a person could be hidden. Has everyone forgotten the Signal Mountain ATV murders?
The family HAS asked for FBI's help. I know her brother did. Tornado devestation distracts media/community from endangered missing woman, but no tornado or any other other natural disaster will EVER have the power to distract this community from American Idol.
ReplyDeletelast night the top story on one of the local news stations was how the community was gathering at CICI'S PIZZA BUFFET to watch american idol. UNBELIEVABLE! I hope the community gets off their pizza eating bums to search for gail this weekend!
ReplyDeletethe signal mountain murders. havent forgot those. gail's husband matt palmgren, has obtained criminal defense attorney bryan hoss. THE SAME MAN who defended the man who committed the signal mountain murders.
ReplyDeleteWho has the most to gain by Gail's disappearance?
ReplyDeleteMatt, of course. The family needs to be more aggressive and less warm and fuzzy in getting The word out. All roads lead to Matt. Sorry but if it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, it's a duck. Why does an innocent ma,n who's wife has vanished hold up behind a Criminal Defense lawyer, doesn't PLEAD, BEG, for the mother of his children to come home? Why wait 48 hours to report her missing? No assistance to family. Offer to take a lie detector test. What will it take for them to stop searching anywhere but where the road leads? To Matt
All roads lead to Matt.
